  • this kicks a s s! wish i was half as good as trucks

  • is there anywhere I can download an MP3 or something of this?

  • @nattyb3 archive.org

  • Download FireFox. It will find any YouTube video and convert it to MP3.

  • nice sonny boy cover coupled with the alvin homage

  • You played where?? Wish I was there. I remember watching falling pines in Wendell State Park in a snowstorm. I lived at the Popcorn Farm next door in Millers Falls in the 70's where jobs and home heating were scarce. The area held magic between them there hills. People worked together to build the soul of a community. Hello to the Diamond Farm, Annie, and Jake & Eli and the Popcorn Farm. Katey

  • They played in where??? Why didn't they play back when I lived next door at the Popcorn Farm in Millers Falls!...a fine town where jobs and home heating were scarce, but the people were building soul from an area from bare bones. Hello to the Diamond Farm.

  • "Good Morning Little School Girl" that title sounds a little pervish

  • @sagittariusbaby0750 so does sagittariusbaby. kind of.......

  • @sagittariusbaby0750 Listen to the words, pinhead. Also, when this was written, the title wouldn't have had the same inuenndo attached to it.

  • @sagittariusbaby0750 that was a teenager song,it was a differente time.

  • Weak version...If ya wanna hear a good version check out Alvin Lee.

  • @TheBluesguy62154 it may not be as energetic as you'd like, i can imagine alvins is at a million miles an hour, but this is cool, and i love the second keyboard solo, thats the nice thing about derek trucks, it does'nt all have to be about his 'big solo', he's happy to sit back and let everyone else have the spotlight.

  • @TheBluesguy62154 Weak? think not. this IS the good version.

  • cool cover

  • Damnit this solo is the illna na na

  • nice early footage of Derek Thanks for posting And nice work mixing audio & video

  • great early footage of Derek Thanks for posting it

  • I'm sure the little Yoda is thinkin': Good God , force be strong as hell in this one ..

  • @awesomewelles90

An amateur? Perhaps that is why Mcoy Tyner worked with him. If you listen Derek's work on Greensleeves with McCoy you might come away froma different opinion.

  • @awesomewelles90 YOU ARE AN IDIOT Just goes to show how much you know about nothing.

  • awesome

    trucks!!!!

  • fantastic...

  • well there goes a perfectly good pair of boxers god damnit

  • @wavybuttsack We really didn't need to know that.

  • Holy shxt, this is how blues is suppose to sound. 100% feeling=)

  • I have a slight suspision that Trucks isnt human

  • And I have a strong suspicion that you can't spell.

  • Good for you....whats your point?

  • haha, brilliant y-tube converstaion! love it.

  • That somebody needs to go back to school!

  • lol

  • I have a slight suspicion that your mom's ass hurts

  • Yeah, it sound like a pretty small town by the sounds of the applause - lke 2 people. LOL. Man that Trucks can play that fucking slide! Such a sweet tone too. I didn't care much for the negative FX in there though. What was that all about? LOL. Thanks for the video though. Pretty damn awesome!

  • Closest thing to Sky Dog you folks ever gonna get hope u appriciate it,

    Country

  • He's blindingly good. If he had the creativity he has in his solos in his image, physical expression and most importantly- songs, he'd have Hendrix knocked off all those top spots

  • Dodlemcno

"most importantly- songs, he'd have Hendrix knocked off all those top spots"

Yeah. Right. And If I were 3 inches taller, could shoot, dribble, and jump, I'd be Michael Jordan.

  • He doesn't sing

  • 7:51 - 7:54

Nicest sound to ever come from a guitar?

  • Yep so sick. One of my favorite solos, its just filled with nastiness

  • No, I meant in the past. I lived in that area most of my life. Hippie central! Not much there at all, a general store/gas station, a church and a commune LOL!

  • I think they did them from 1998-2001. There was one in 1996 in Amherst. I dunno about 1997 off hand. In 2002 it moved to New York.

  • Why were there no Ho-Downs when I lived close to Wendell, in Shutesbury?

  • Probably because there was some "trouble" at the last one they had there.

  • Ah, yes!!! GREAT music!!!!

Thank you, Leslie, for sending me to

    cleantones' page! Wonderful video!

    5*. Love the blues!!!! Whew!

  • and it aint Pigpen RIP

  • derek trucks is awesome.

  • 8:16 XD

  • that classic derek trucks phrasing. this man is a master at what he does, makes me wanna pick up slide guitar.

  • the vocalist looks like bob weir...whats his name?

  • it aint bob weir

  • best i seen on u tube who ever did the close up of Yoda, your great, and he dose not always play and open e, he plays in e also...(ha)

  • The lyrics are hysterical.

  • that was nice!

  • this is pretty darn good, i love derek's playing

but it still doesnt beat having pigpen singin this tune

  • Got that right. Did you ever have a chance to see the Pig? He was the coolest cat who ever took the stage. I have never seen anyone more committed to the blues.

  • don't be fucking stupid.its a blues classic.

  • Does anyone know his tuning...open E tuning?

  • Ya, Derek always plays in open e

  • why do people always compare other bands versions ? then slag em off cause "there not as good as the original" it would be a sad world if nobody copied anything would,nt it...

  • :-)finally a voice of reason.

Great to have more than one version of a song to suit my state of mind :-)

  • i prefer the Greatful Dead's version myself.

  • Why the thumbs down for Nurfacebish. The Dead rule!

  • I don't get it either. Hey, i dig Derek Trucks especially since i grew up listening to his mentors! the Allman Brothers Band.

  • Yeah, man. I saw Derek in Boise just a few weeks ago and the band was smokin'!

    Gotta love the Allmans too.

  • I watched him in Jackson Hole at The Mangy Moose. I stood about 3 feet in front of him the whole night...fixated on his guitar. It was amazing.

  • To hell with the Grateful Dead.

    Allman Bros for life! Lol

  • @freerunninfrog13 To hell with the Dead?! To hell with you!

  • sick and also sweet @ Yoda on Kofi's clavi. Speaking of which, interesting to see the small frame of dTb history with Kofi & that white guy both on keys

  • the whole band is sick

  • As old school "long hair" remember Ten Years After" in this tune

  • Johnny Winter!!!

  • DITTO!

  • gibson sg i like it i like it alot

  • cool version

  • I'm a huge Derek fan and I can't help but be curious if he's any good at regular playing, without the slide.

  • Derek's actually very good at "regular playing" without the slide. He doesn't do it very often, but, when he does, it's nice. He does some in this video, but he's real good on Clapton's "Crossroads 2007" DVD.

  • hes unreal with and without slide. i once saw him on BET jazz on this show studioi jams tearing up jazz changes. hes a prodigy.

  • Derek does actually quite a lot of "regular playing" i.e. fretting, as you can observe on both the "Songlines" and the Allman Brothers DVDs. The secret is that Derek plays slide in standard tuning (i.e. EADGBE) unlike most slide players who use an "open tuning" (i.e. the guitar is tuned to a chord, e.g. Open G: DGDGBD). That way, Derek can blend both playing styles within the middle of a phrase. Another guitar player who is good at this is Warren Haynes

  • Trucks uses nothing but open E (EBEG#BE), you ought to read up on him before you make a statement like that. Any interview he does someone asks him about his tone and tuning and he always says open E and nothing but.

  • tjfitzpatrick, you are absolutely right! In the meantime, I have checked on Derek's website and found it confirmed that he plays everything in Open E. Which is quite shocking considering how fluent he is in any key (even the uncomfortable flat keys such as Bb), in minor keys and even in the jazz tunes. I had watched the beforementioned DVDs and the chord voicings SEEMED to look familiar, that's why I was mistaken. I apologize for being a dumbfuck smartass, then ;-)

  • No big deal, you're completely right though when you say stuff like that haha, he baffles us all with his fluidity in that tuning. It's ridiculous.

  • i actually did read in a guitar world interview that he CAN play slide in standard tuning...but maybe he doesn't anymore? not sure but he definitely at least USED to play in standard

  • so he plays most of his songs in open E? Even the ones that are not in the key of E and C sharp minor?

  • yeh. joyful noise is in G, for example, but he plays it with open E tuning.

  • he plays everything tuned to open e.

what he's tuned to has nothing to do with what key the song is in. this in in g.

  • You can play in any Key in open E tuning. Its just hard sometimes because the open strings, E,B,G# are not notes in other keys, so you have to work around it. But that definitely shows Derek's mastery of the instrument as that's exactly what he does.

  • Comment removed

  • it would just sound the same with out that beautiful tone

  • How bout Pigpen's versions?

  • any one have this song by plesh and friends if so message me pleaze

  • Wow! Derek Kicks ass.

  • derek trucks is soooo amazing

  • best ever

  • not even close to Alvin Lee...Alvin's really embodied that driving sexual intent...The rest are amateurs

  • Then you make it better

  • that's not what he's saying dumbass.

  • alvin's version is great in that sense but instrumental wise it can't touch this

  • You mean not even close to Muddy Water's version. Alvin Lee was cool but he like any other white rocker dude can't touch muddy.

  • skin color doesn't mean anything.

  • You'd be surprised when it comes to stage presence and style.

  • I'm pretty glad they dumped this singer for Mike Mattison. What a hack.

  • True that i truly think Mike was the missing piece. Derek Trucks Band is THE band nowadays there really isnt ne thing good left around. Not to mention Derek Trucks is the closest thing ive ever seen to a guitar literally crying in my lige

  • keeping the blues alive!

  • "Schoolgirl" = written by John Lee 'Sonny Boy' Williamson(#1) 1937. AKA: Me & My Chauffeur Blues(Memphis Minnie) & Airplane Blues by John Estes & Muddy Waters.

  • Psychedelically blues!! :)

  • Great musicianship trumps fads and trends every time! A cat like Derek Trucks will be in demand as long as he chooses to play! (practice those instruments you kids out there.....)

  • A feel from the 70's has been retained, great B3 and Brit style blues combined with some Allman Bros. Also shades of Keef Hartley band in the mix!

  • Derek and the Dominoes? Awesome display of musicianship.

  • What year is this??

  • The date is listed in the description. It was 7/8/00

  • bone chilin good.. everyone eat a peach for peace

  • GOD! That line at 7:50! That's pant-wettingly good!

  • hope you were with youre better half during that experince. eat a peach for peace

  • Cool!

  • i love how he even phrases when he plays rhythm

  • SWEETNESS
