i just came back from the beach at hilton head island and i just saw a loggerhead lay her eggs...there were 4 other ppl and we were telling everyone to turn off there flash lights because it was late at night...the light will disturb her.i wish i could have gotten pictures but u couldn't see anything and i def. didn't want to scare her with a flash.

Isn't it an amazing experience? You did a really good thing to turn off your flashlights. That small gesture makes you a part of a global conservation effort. Too cool, huh :o)

Did you see her actually lay the eggs?

Yes. We saw her dig the hole and drop the eggs in. It was very tough to see this b/c we wanted to keep our distance and a crowd gathered close to her, but we were able to see most of it through the crowd's legs.
