It was a time that did not allow for women to play any role other than extremely traditional ones. As our understandings of culture and society evolve, so should the religions to a reasonable extent without sacrificing what they truly believe to be the crux of their religion.

First of all, there's ZERO evidence that what she is saying is the truth, besides her word. Quite, frankly a lot of people have a lot to gain by fabricating news stories like this and it would be better for everyone if the media was more critical of this than they are now.

@greg357159 Obama did not "invade" Libya. Obama agreed to participate in the implementation of a no fly zone that was implemented after a unanimous vote of the UN Security council. The United States isn't even supplying the majority of the aircraft. France is. And the responsibility of the entire operation has now been handed over to NATO. Obama did not invade Iraq or Afghanistan. Obama hasn't appointed himself a dictator and he'll be up for reelection next year. The dollar isn't "worthless"

@tinjarir While I do agree that this seems to be a fairly common trend with most religions, that message was also geared towards the culture at the time (Think about when these religions emerged - 1600 to 2000 years ago). It was a time that did not allow for women to play any role other than extremely traditional ones. As our understandings of culture and society evolve, so should the religions to a reasonable extent without sacrificing what they truly believe to be the crux of their religion.

I don't doubt that there would still be people with the ideals that women should still not hold any roles but an oppressed traditional one. @MissTeenPregnancy in Islam you can never hit a women ! our prophet while talking to his son told him that a woman can be so fragile like a bottle that can be broken so easily so don't ever hurt a woman not even with words ! Islam means peace .. and in Islam both men and women get stoned if they committed adultery,they're equally punished.. its very hurtful to hear such hateful words about my religion specially when they're not true so please spread love not hate .

@devilishR91 islam is like a kidnapper who enslaves his girls. Then he says 'i will treat them well, but they are my property' I am aware that not all muslims are bad. But the very problem with islam is that an out of proportioinal larger % of muslim men ARE BAD. And the very reason is because of what i've written, it's not because they are all horrible human beings, it's because almost ALL muslim men follow the strict rules of the backward religion -including you.

@MissTeenPregnancy lol alll muslim countries allow women to drive, only in Saudi Arabia they don't , ONLY because of the SAUDI costumes not the Islamic ones, our prophet's wife has ridden camels and it was her own, since back then that used to be like cars now =) so in Islam women can drive and our king has said that women can drive whenever people in here approves, im a Saudi girl and i have my own driver XP you might not understand it because our cultures differ,but im perfectly happy with it.

@MissTeenPregnancy and do you think women in here would just shut up and keep quite if they didn't feel like they're getting their rights? back in the 50s when women weren't allowed to go to college, they fought for it and now 5% of Saudi women drop out of college because THEY WANT TO, we're very happy living the way we're living, i wouldn't expect you to understand that because simply our cultures differ ! but unlike you i respect your culture and any religion you're following=)

@devilishR91 Some Western men hurt women, you'd have to be a fool to think that crime does not occur but the difference is that western societies do not condone subjecting women to basic slavery -which is what most of them are in muslim societies, even muslim areas in Europe

It would be like saying all Black Americans are gang bangers, or all Hindus throw acid on their wives, etc. Life is nuanced; embrace it. And read some books.
