  • This was the US theme. I wonder why they used a different theme in Europe? I like the European theme much better. watch?v=gsJ4pALlbEM&feature=related

  • This brings back memories :)

Then were was Colombo.... Peter Falk, classic understated style.

  • @hampshireman65

    Amen.

  • THE BEST THEME SONG!

  • :58 Seventies version of Pookie from New Jack City!

  • :32 that sweater must weigh 90kilos wet!

  • damn, season one opening theme is kinda dark lol, season's 2 "Gotcha" FTW!

  • @SmartZOMBIEbug

Oh yeah, it sucks! "Gotcha" would serve as the shows defining theme and rightfully so. Tom Scott had to work hard to even MATCH Elmer Bernsteins ROOKIES theme- I take both of these as apples and oranges, of course but they are BOTH outstanding charts.

You should check out the original theme from MAGNUM P.I. before the producers of the show had it changed to the one that would live forever.....

  • Nice work. Click on my channel to see my 80's nostalgic collections; "80's TV Show Openings", "80's Saturday Morning Cartoons", "80's WWF Wrestling" and a "John Hughes Tribute".

  • Watched this every week religiously on ch 7 WABC in New York when i was a kid

  • I'd rather have that Lincoln Continental

  • i like the other theme better

  • WOW! - '70s kitsch at its finest.

And kind of "gay" in some spots, too.

  • Both David Soul and Paul M. Glaser have said that they hated using their car for the entire run of the series, because they knew it was a scene-stealer. It ALWAYS got the most attention anytime it was on screen. The producers might as well have given it an actor's name as "That Torino" in the opening credits.

  • gotta love the facial pauses lol

  • so they were being chased and then decided to just stop and arrest the dudes chasing them?

  • Brock Landers and Chest Rockwell LOL

  • Nice red&white Torino

  • STARSKY

  • Did David Soul crack his spine in that stunt or did I just imagine I heard that?(0;47)

This is the best theme for the series ,not that crap they used from series 2 on.

  • The game is awesome

  • if my memory serves me S&H actually had 2 different theme songs!

  • @AusJackal actually 3 completely different ones....season 4's theme was a re-vamp of season 2's

  • @Eddie62070 thanks mate... =D

  • Did you know David Sole actually hurt his back doing that car roof stunt?

  • Comment removed

  • haha i like how the car stops at the end and just blows up....lol

  • I loved this show...they roughed up the bad guys and were always getting yelled at by their Captain. But they were honest cops and you could admire them.

  • I loved the show but why the sweater?

  • @crysjumar1 The sweater that Starsky was wearing was very popular back in the 70's-it might look a little girly but a lot of men wore those sweaters-to me its always looked to girly -especailly for a cop to be wearing

  • @curtisjones400 Oh, I know. I had one and it was very nice. But it was bulky and very warm.

  • Best S&H theme music of the series. When they changed it to that other crappy music, I was ready to go picket ABC until they changed it back! The music after that was even worse! They should have stayed with this 1st season theme.

  • @VIKINGxDNA What is wrong with you?

  • as a 7 year old kid, i love this!!

  • @ClinchFighter911 she was married to Peter Horton from thirtysomething.....now she is married to David E. Kelley,

  • When I worked behind a badge,I never got my ass chewed on a weekly basis by the Commissioner nor did I ever hang from the little things under the helicopter. You know the little things under a helicopter?

  • when I was a wee boy i tried the hutch move over the bonnet, it didnt work i just dented the f lol.

  • Starsky and Hutch can be seen on the RTV network Mon- Fri Nights, they currently showing the 2nd season in order.

  • I hate to say it but people are are still re doing the Starsky and Hutch style now and trying to make out like it's something new, Knobs

  • the name of the song

  • classic cop show..I always liked the clubs they went into..dark with no windows

  • lalo schiffrin masterpiece

  • Too Bad We Don´t Have Good T.V. Shows Like This Today. I Don´t Even Watch T.V. Anymore. All the Shows That Are On Today Are Nothing But Crap That Caters To A Fucked Up Teenage Audience.

  • @darrenmiriam I couldn't have said it better myself. AWESOME post man.

  • @darrenmiriam And most of the crap that is on today is those so-called "reality" shows. Reality my ass!!!

  • the best of all theme songs... period!!! especially Hutch when he was clearing the window... he looked like he was really ready to kick someones @#$%@!^&

  • A plus show!

  • Straight Gangsta Shit!

  • and the Torino is not a 1974 it a 1976.

  • @DeWina512 1974, 1975 and 1976 Torinos were used for the show.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE i guess u r wrong cos i know my Ford's.

  • @DeWina512 If you did "know your Ford's" then you wouldn't say that only 1976 year model Torinos were used for "Starsky and Hutch." As I stated previously....'74, '75 and '76 Torinos were used. Yeah, Ford did specifically build the special car in Spring 1976, but the show painted & used all three model years of Torinos, means as they are identical. Show made the cars popular with just a paint scheme on '74 and '75 and '76 models before Ford built them. There went your "know my Ford's" theory.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE if im wrong look on the website called imcdb.org and search starsky & hutch and prove im wrong.

  • @DeWina512 Don't need to look on any website to get any information about a Ford Torino. I have owned a Starsky and Hutch Torino and already know absolutely ALL of the history of the cars used on that show. You on the other hand, need to get educated on whats what before you spout off about something you know NOTHING about. Last time I checked, no episodes were made in Australia and they were made before you were born. '74, '75 and '76 Torinos were used on "Starsky and Hutch."

    Case closed.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE You had an S&H Torino? I was a teenager when this show came out. I liked Glaser and Soul, but to me, the car was the star! Out of all of the cool TV cars I grew up with, I think I wanted the Torino the most.

  • 0:46 that's gotta hurt :S

  • @MrZay333 it was written in the scripts

  • Miami Vice was cool, but S&H kicked their azzes.

  • @cosmicdingo Miami Vice seemed like a Starsky and Hutch of the '80s. Two hip cops fighting crime in the underbelly of a glamorous city. Driving hot cars and makin' it with hot girls. BTW-I believe Paul Michael Glaser directed some Vice episodes.

  • @kurtb8474 Yes you are right, PMG directed some Miami Vice episodes. Met him once precisely while he was in Miami Beach (1984), to direct one episode. He was a very nice and down to Earth guy. We chatted just for a few minutes and gave me his autograph but he asked that no photos be taken. Very polite dude.

  • @eurodishco I believe it. He is on Facebook.

  • @kurtb8474 I did not know about his FB page. Will check it out. Living in Miami Beach

back in the 80's allowed me not just to have fun but to meet (if not briefly), quite a few people that were

popular in the 70's and 80's and whose shows I used to watch as a kid and teen, ncluding PMG, David Soul and of course both Miami Vice main characters (also Olivia Brown and Saundra Santiago). Nice times!

  • From what i remember the reason they are being chased is the bad guy (might be Stryker) gets his men to keep an eye on them, so Starsky & Hutch notice and play a little game of cat and mouse with them before turning around and confronting them.

  • lalo schiffrin is a genius

  • This show looks sabotaged

  • You guys are taking the opening "chase" scene out of context...Watch the episode (pilot, the best episode of all), and it's clear why things unfold like that...

  • I remember when santa hooked me up with the david starsky sweater hes wearing at 0:21,i was the hit of my neighborhood. Thanks Santa.I haven't forgotten.

  • Dont understand the logic of the car chase. Bad guys chase the cops. Then the cops stop, run over while the baddies stay put in their car, waiting to get arrested. If you were the baddies chasing the cops, when you corner the cops, u dont do it to get arrested like sitting ducks. Otherwise, what's the point in chasing them in the first place?

  • @rahejaarcade It was explained somewhere in past comments ages ago by someone, but the car chase in the intro was linked to the story of the episode.

It was something on the lines where S and H werent supposed to know they were being followed etc.

I havent watched the episode in question, but i expect the chase scene makes sense if you watch it :)

  • @Urko2005 They stop to "confront" the following car.

  • All the rubbish about cardigans. Starskey wore it in ONE episode!!!!

  • starsky & hutch had many title theme songs but for me ,this had to be the best i think it was composed by Lalo Shifrin who also done the soundtracks to Bullitt, Dirty Harry

Magnum Force,Enter the Dragon and Mission Impossible ,peace out

  • Class show 70s cop shows were the best

  • Is 522 Club a street sign or what? It appears to be rather humongous.

  • Why do serials like these show the criminals dressed well in suits? On any cop show, you always find them getting caught wearing hooded sweatshirts or tank tops which reveal many tatooes.

  • best cops ever....

  • I must be sad then; I thought this show was FAB...it just goes to show you dont need excessive swearing and violence!! Besides, I LOVE the theme tune :)

  • Ford vehicles were commonplace in Aaron Spelling shows, like this one.

  • I loved this show, but anyone have any idea why at the opening of the song the bad guys are chasing Starsky & Hutch, and why they sit in the car and let them pull them out and arrest them ?

  • @irishjohn831

Lincoln Town Car. Probably has a 460 Cubic Inch Big Block V8 under the hood.

  • 0:47 say goodbye to your ballz

  • @jimbobhk2009 -__- No

  • @SharpeyGotTekkers i wasn't talking to you i was talking about hutch landing on the car.

  • I had a Torino. What a piece of shit. Nothing would prevent it from rusting out. Slightly damp pavement would cause the engine to stall--very dangerous at highway speeds. In winter you had to perform CPR to get it started. The only successful police car Ford built was the Crown Vic--and that was because they were the size of friggin' boats.

  • luv it

  • oh my God, I'm 15 again!

  • I LOVE STARSKY AND HUTCH X X :)

  • this was way more fun to watch then "cops" the tv series with real police officers.

these guys were like little kids always getting into trouble and being yelled at by their captain. but I liked them because they were tough and honest.

  • This is the best tune and god bless P.M.G no one should of had to gone through what he did amazing man ;-)

  • the US opening sucks, i preffer one thousand time the french one!!!

  • This was the BEST!!! Easily the BEST!!

  • more real then reality!

  • How could anyone dislike this theme,or show;what's wrong with you?

  • My blood pressure just shoot through the roof! Damn!!! Where are all the freakin' real cop shows these days??? We lost the battle of television. To much freakin cable TV. No imagination, no sense, no concepts, no creation, no nothing but trash. Uggghhhh.

  • It's better not to make these two angry, or else......

  • this version is far more sinister than the other one

  • @klisher you right.this one was the better of the three theme music

  • @eleesmith too right

  • Huggy Bear for President! Oh wait a minute...

    :-P

  • @BuzbyWuzby Not quite...Almost though

  • rofl lmao

  • I can't watch this without thinking of Morecambe and Wise's "Starkers and Krutch" sendup.

  • Best theme version of the series. Can you post full episodes?

  • I want to buy this tune without the sound effects. Anybody know if it's available?

  • such a funny opening sequence - the guys in the lincoln are chasing starsky and hutch, then when they catch 'em, with no explanation, somehow starsky and hutch are pulling THEM out of THEIR car and jacking them up

pretty cool to see this, made me feel young for a minute

  • 1970s 7,000lb 20 ft Lincoln...the original drifter...

  • a mans type of show..

  • This was the best Starsky & Hutch theme tune

  • I so loved this show. Have great memories of my childhood

  • I could never figure out why they dumped the first season theme music for that pathetic music they replaced it with! The theme for the first season was the best. It was edgy and exciting and is still cool to this day. The music they used in season 2 and beyond was a terrible and, unfortunately, is more identifiable with the series these days.

  • just a pitty that the torino didnt really have that engine tone and four speed manual box .

  • These were shows that had a plot that was well thought-out (meaning good writing!). The actors could deliver too ! And without excessive violence or without the need to resort to vulgarity, they were extremely entertaining. I miss those times -- when television was actually WATCHABLE !

  • @eurodishco You and me both. Nowadays it seems that all of these so called writers care about is who can include the most vulgar language. And there's no real plot to any of these shows either now. No acting either. They just go pick up whoever they can find on the street and call it a "reality" show.

  • @ridgerunner721601 I agree and actually I have my theory about why this is so nowadays . . . but everything has turned so vulgar, low, pathetic. Reality shows are disgusting and low; television sitcoms are incredibly stupid and vulgar too and not at all funny. And television police dramas or medical drama, etc. are so overly DRAMATIC and violent that they leave nothing to the imagination. That is besides their bad acting. Then there are the movies: every time more fantastical and (cont.)

  • @ridgerunner721601 (cont.), and filled with special effects that take away from any and all possible plot. Computer generated everything. And those atrocious comedies (romantic as they calle them), are simply vulgar and pathetic. I guess that is why I no longer watch regular television and I stay away from new movies (except independent film, foreign films with substance).

  • @eurodishco You're absolutely right. And I think a lot of us feel that way too. I've heard too many people besides either of us, both in person and on youtube type opinions complaining about the garbage coming out of Hollywood nowadays. Unfortunately, Hollywood keeps on cranking out low class garbage mainly because it's cheaper to produce than the older shows that were written better and with better acting and none of that stupid computer generated mess.

  • @ridgerunner721601 In total agreement with your views! I've also read such comments like those you mentioned. People do seem to be tired of all this garbage. I am one of them and I can see you are too! This tells me there are some people with common sense left in this world -- but are we in the minority?

  • @eurodishco I think a lot of us feel this way. But I've always heard when any product starts going down the tubes, whether it be entertainment, light bulbs, toilet paper or whatever just follow the dollar. These Hollywood idiots nowadays are making a fortune on poorly written and poorly produced junk. And they're still making money hand over fist because sponsors are paying for their ads to be aired every few minutes during the show. I've gotten to where I watch the good ol shows on hulu.com

  • @ridgerunner721601 Yes it is true -- and terribly sad. Where I live there is a channel (Retro TV), that broadcasts some good old shows (Kojak for one), but I cannot stand the commercials. So, I guess hulu.com is a good alternative. It is incredible the level of stupidity on television that people seem to like and "appreciate" nowadays. The other day, I was at the supermarket check out lane, and I saw the cover of People magazine. There I discovered that one of the best (cont.)

  • @ridgerunner721601 (continued) one of the best and most talented actresses of the past 40 years, Jill Clayburgh had died. Yet, she was not on the cover but rather her small photo was at the bottom of the three that were to the right of the COVER PHOTO. And guess who was the actual COVER PHOTO? The talent-less Kardashian trash. That says it all to me !

  • @eurodishco That doesn't surprise me. I didn't even know Jill Clayburgh had died. But everytime one of these stupid Kardashians walks out of the house, they have to report it and make a big deal about it. And I agree. They're talentless. Just what do they do to make the news? About the only thing I've seen is they sleep with pro athletes. They come across as gold digging trash.

  • @ridgerunner721601 Sorry it took me a while to reply! We concur about the sad reality that vulgarity and lack of talent are celebrated in all media; thus becoming the norm rather than the exception -- and what is worse, the "icons" that reflect this mentality become sensations and are emulated by the young and the not so young!

  • @eurodishco Very true. And it's not only the TV shows. What passes for music nowadays is the same as the garbage TV shows in recent years.

  • @ridgerunner721601 I am in absolute agreement with you. I guess we are living in planet Vulgaris Trashis.

  • @eurodishco You sure have that right. Things have changed so much for the worst in only 30 years. I was watching an old rerun of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' awhile ago and those old shows were funny and had a goofy plot and were entertaining without all of the cursing and political correctness garbage that Hollywood strangles itself with nowadays.

  • @ridgerunner721601 Hello again. You are right, all those shows were not offensive at all. Maybe like you said, they had goofy plots but they were harmless and they did entertain us. And those other shows that were more serious, they surely were not vulgar and surely they did not use any bad words. So the question is: how did everything go so wrong? It is beyond me !

  • @eurodishco I don't know Euro, but I'd love to see not only the TV shows, but the music and even the commercials go back to the way they were 35 years ago. Even though I quit smoking a couple of years ago I'd rather put up with the Marlboro man than have to explain what Viagra is for to my 5 year old.

  • @ridgerunner721601 Yes I totally get your point. I also enjoy everything that "was" versus what "is" today. I find today's films and commercials, tv shows, etc. idiotic, vulgar, disgusting! It is not about being fixated in the past, which I am not and I am sure you aren't either, it is about having standards and principles. I do not support smoking but I get your point about the Marlboro commercial and it was not offensive. The Viagra one , Cialis one, etc. gross me out.

  • @eurodishco Very true Euro. I really don't think any of these pharmaceutical companies should be advertising. These drugs are supposed to be prescribed by doctors and they advertise them like they would soft drinks or hamburgers. I just hit 50 last June so I'm not exactly a kid, and maybe I'll need something like Viagra one of these days, but that doesn't mean I want to see the stuff advertised every few minutes on TV. LOL

  • @ridgerunner721601 Totally agree! The pharmaceutical companies make a mint by pushing their drugs for every conceivable pseudo condition (they make up). I am absolutely disgusted about the idea that a human being would need pills for everything! Please!! And people believe them too! And the way in which women are portrayed too: they need pills for every bodily function. Because truth be told, they do not use men for certain commercials which is a double standard. Tragic.

  • I watched this show every week. I always wanted Starsky to be my Dad.

  • did that car have a badass 351 Cleveland engine in it? anybody know? awesome!!

  • Really brings back memories. I was about 14 or 15 when this show first came on the air. I remember telling my little brother "hey I remember that blonde headed guy (David Soul) used to be on a western called 'Here Come the Brides' when I was a kid". It had only been about 3 or 4 years since he was Joshua Bolt on Here Come the Brides, but to a teenager it was a lifetime.....LOL

  • @ridgerunner721601 Plus, David had a small speaking part on Star Trek in the episode "The Apple."

  • This show was badass

  • It's doc from everybody hates cris!

  • That opening scene was alot for those big cars of the 70's,that Lincoln Continental chasing that Gran Torino wighed about 4,300 lbs and the Torino weighe about 3,600 lbs so thats alot of weoght behind that wheelbase. I had alot of cars that size when i was a kid (Caddy's, Buicks, & Olds) and i used to do spinouts and 360's. those cars were strong and tough and they didnt have the sophisticated suspensions like the cars of today. Those were the days when big American automobiles ruled the road!

  • :28 turkish bath house scene? :46 dude jumps 335 feet onto his ass! 1:07 when was the last time you saw the 70's "two handed swing punch" huh? 1:10 WTF is all I can say for that.

  • I don't get it? The opening scene, S&H are the ones getting chased.....then they do a few signature burn outs....THEN they turn the tables on dudes and jump out of the car and take em down. Someone explain please!

  • My favorite part was :01 to 1:24

  • this theme is great but the 30 second end theme even better.

  • Most kick-ass theme of any show so far. The fuzz-bass and drums are like a Danko Jones cut for God's sake! Lalo Schiffrin = Da Man. The Season 2 Theme was okay, but this one just hits you in the gut. This, Hawaii 5-0, Dr. Who, Mod Squad, Mission Impossible, Space: 1999, all with amazing themes. I think they helped form music tastes for a lot of kids who grew up to play music later. (Wish the noisy open and close tags were gone!)

  • Cut the crap ads at the begining & end for f's sake!

  • this is the proper theme, the later one was rubbish, thanks for uploading

  • This is more exciting that Law & Order

  • The tennis shoes!! I wore starsky shoes with a skirt....yes a skirt, with knee highs. but I was STYLIN'

  • Lalo Schifrin theme is far superior.

  • Damn! 35 years ago and a different world. I still watch the reruns and dvd.

  • loved this show. when i was a teenager, way back when, we even called our local narcs "starsky and hutch".

  • @treasa2 LOL!

  • Happy 67th Birthday to DAViD SOUL aka 'HUTCH' from STARSKY & HUTCH ~ TV series running from 1975 ~ '79 (28 Aug 2010)

  • Natural acting unlike these days. Nothing better than the classic ol' skool.

  • you dont f**k with starsky & hutch

  • Was it too much to ask for them to pick nice freeze frame shots of the cast members?

  • I think the S & H movie haters are missing the point. The movie was a tongue-in-cheek homage to the series! There was no objective to best the original. Everyone knows that is futile. What it did, and succeeded quite well at it, was to renew everyone's interest in one of the best cop shows to come out of the 70's! Here's to Starsky & Hutch!

  • it was ok then, but crap to watch now..

  • @sammysole i agree women on tv are amazing but in real life they are more likely to say i cant lift this or its too hard for a woman please help me. they want equal pay but they dont want to have to do any hard work.

  • @wavejump1100 '..they want equal pay but don't want to have to do any hard work.' Well said brother!! Couldn't have put that better myself.

  • The Lincoln is chasing them around in circles..Starsky and Hutch have had enough of this bullshit, they jump out of their Torino, run at the Lincoln and pull the bad guys out from both sides of the Lincoln with one hand, gun in the other, without a shot fired!..Oh the good old days.

  • This choon kicks some ass

  • This is my favorite of the 3 or 4 themes the show used.

  • Those were the days. The music was funky. The cars where cool and had excellent roadholding. The sheet metal in the cars where obviously thicker.

  • @rabola55 .....excellent road holding? I hope your being sarcastic? The chase at 0:13 - 0:17 is like watching two sumo wrestlers chase each other across a swimming pool lol

  • The baddest cats working the streets.......these were good times......tv today doesn't even start to compare. S&H forever

  • I had shoes just like Starky's. got them at K-Mart. LOL!!!

  • great male shows

    men ruled the roost

    no fake female heros

  • @sammysole1 "No fake female heroes"?? I enjoyed S&H, too, especially the first two years, but do you REALLY see them as "real heroes"? They're fun, but cartoonish...

That said, I don't like the "too bitchy" female cops of recent years, where their gender somehow justifies the way they talk to their male co-workers... Give me Angie Dickinson in "Police Woman" any day over today's bitches with a badge.

    Givb

  • @scorpio888 Im feelin that LOL!

  • Piece of trivia:-

The bit in sequence (according to Soul himself) where he lands on the roof of vehicle he was meant to crouch on it but slipped.

  • Even as I kid, I never liked that horrible red Ford Torino - the worst "undercover" cop car ever.

  • @ilovesexilovenaked Why would that even enter your head?

  • @Vana1970 just watch the show and you'll know easily.

  • @Vana1970 people see what they want to see
