That's called " 筆 (Fude)".

When Japanese use India ink to write (or draw) something, they use "Fude" to write with.

its a japanese statue of a monk... its called (O-Ji Zou) similar to Angels in western civilization and those things on the bottom are the petals of Lotus flower and the post cards supposed to be comical...its a traditional japanese humor.

what is the difference between a japanese paper and chinese paper?

There is not the difference of "japanese paper" and "chinese paper".

Both are made with the peel of a tree.

However, a Japanese paper is smoother.

When "a Japanese paper" is not available, please use "chinese paper".

However, "a Japanese paper" is not rice paper.

The paper which I use is "a Japanese paper".

"The Japanese paper" is Japanese traditional paper.

"The Japanese paper" is made with the peel of a tree.
