He didn't promote because the tests were racially bias. He (Sherman George)told the city not to use the test and the city disregard his opinion after they asked him. So the chief did it right. The people who took the test and didn't get promoted who are white is connected to the mayor somehow so the chief did the right thing.

I'm white and Irish. I took the city fire exam on July, 19 th 2007, to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a city firefighter. I know I passed the exam with flying colors and mine got tossed out with the rest. It's not race, it's test scores. If you are not smart enough to pass the test, reguardless of race, then you do not deserve the position. Firefighting is too important of a job to have racial issues in.

It's ashame these issues are tainting the fire service.Whatever happened to studying?You pass the test then get the job or a promotion.If they can't, Fuck em!They don't deserve it.I've been in Union halls throughout the country and you don't see this kind of behavior amongst black and white FF's.They actually call each other brother. Sherman George destroyed the SLFD.
