Actually he does... this is not a normal PSP, it is a testing tool unit. Sony can trace these by MAC address.

The MAC Adress is not(!) equal to the IP-Adress

They keep of record of all hardware details on these, in case a unit is stolen for example. Knowing the MAC address they could look back at who they sold it to and then go from there.
