@monkeetime lol Ur internet and youtube ya..u know what u need a job. it's ur vacant mind making u mad...come to India i will give ur work to scare monky in Delhi...
Facts are Facts..., if it hurts tht only means its true, we need to wrk as a nation learn from it, try to fix the issues(constructive criticism)..., EGOs are running high here again, jst chill lads...!
If you dnt listen to facts and realize how well off you and me are we will NEVER change, as you can see nothing much has changed, we r all talk but full of shit... and Change is easier said than done, especially in India ! Jai Hind yea right...! lol
@goo7ma7 dude chill out a bit... i live in mumbai... and dont see anything drastically wrong with the views of monkeetime.... had it not been the political corruption our country, India would be in a better state than what it is now .... have u forgotten the 2G scam running in to Rupees 176,000,00,00,000 i.e 176,000 crore and the other uncountable scams... and, not to mention how things work around here ! even passing he lokpal bill is taking so much time !
the alternative? housework and a life of poverty. the inevitable debilitating illness? beg in the streets! ugliness is here to stay and you're an integral part of the equation, so stop getting high and mighty about it. don't turn away and hide behind your elaborate system of smoke and mirrors. face the problem, get used to the mess, and find a way to help.
they'd rather learn how to make bombs and steal from the rich than recite our hugeass alphabet on an empty stomach, sweating in the sun. the standard practice for poor kids is to attend on mornings when the parents weren't able to procure victuals, collect the midday meal, leave, and share it with the family. they'd settle for that rather than getting an education AND enough food to feed them all. too boring and unprofitable.
you know what one of our biggest problems are? most kids in my mom's villiage don't WANT to learn. seen those ads of kids begging for enlightenment? lies. those who are are often saved. as for the rest, the government keeps trying various incentive programs. they offer generous quantities of rice for the whole family if the kids would just come to school, but they simply don't WANT to.
calcutta reveals the faces behind these generalized abstractions who magically do your work for you amidst a civilized, or to most americans, semi-civilized setting. how do you expect us to help these people? what would you have done? we've tried everything, from extensive charity programs to state-wide communism. the poor still remain poor. so you know what we end up doing? same as you people. we leave.
you know why calcutta is really offensive to some americans? it destroys their illusion that they are these really awesome, morally upright people. in america, you don't get the poverty of the world shoved into your face every day. it is hidden behind a truly magnificent interface immaculately designed to keep the slaves who make all the superficial glory possible stowed away in lower tiers of the overall architecture. like house elves.
india sucks, but tagore is still the world poet. calcutta may be a shitty hellhole, but neither shakespeare nor the french stylists can hold a candle to tagore's literary genius in the original bengali.
@humza101 Tickets were sold out for next 5 days. We WANTED to, totally gave ourselves extra time to do it on the train, but it didnt work out. Oh, well.. Next time!
@gog3tass4 depends on who you are. it's actually pretty decent for the middle classes compared to some parts of india, especially places like pune and chennai. plus, the communists almost completely did away with the last vestiges of the feudal system, so nearly everyone is a landowner in the countryside. abandoned colonial capitals tend to be full of disadvantaged classes. calcutta is not even an indian city. the british created it from a clump of villages for colonial administration.
India is utterly primitive in so many areas ... Unbelievable Poverty, Lack of basic Education and health care to its people, pathetic Infrastructure, mistreatment of women and most of all persecution of fellow humans in the name of caste. And they boast about their 'call centers' and call themselves future super power !!! Incredible India! ... LOL ... It should be FCKED UP INDIA.
@pcermomb you are basically right. India's problems were huge at Independence but over the years expanded as a result of rampant corruption on every level, incredible illiteracy (which contributes to poor voting habits and more corrupt officials in place), and horrible discrimination based on gender and caste. The country needs to face the facts and change, instead of its current wave of denial and unbridled optimism.
@monkeetime he is not even marginally right. you are just an ignorant prick who thinks he knows India because he spend a few days backpacking.
only a moron of the very highest order would say that India's problems have expanded since independence. before independence we had non existent industry and negligible literacy, we had major famines every decade that killed millions. since 1947 there has been not a single famine and millions upon millions have been lifted out of poverty.
@MauryaSenapati Why so angry? My point is: if there are no problems, then why is China leaving India in its dust? Obviously a free, democratic country should be kicking ass by now. Instead, politicians are busy stealing, lying, cheating and scheming, and nothing is getting done. In my books that is a seriously debilitating problem. Obviously foreign occupation is bad, but self-imposed one is just a bloody shame. Have a nice day.
@monkeetime angry ? nah,I'm bored with stupidity. India lags 6 yrs behind china with far better vital signs. India's gdp now is where china's was in 2005, 2 trillion, with a lower population than china.we grew when we opened up our economies, china in 1978 and India in 1991, we have already wiped out 7 yrs of difference .yet there's less than 1% of the hype. china's economy is built on a massive property bubble that is heading for a major financial crisis. do educate yourself.
@pcermomb Yeah but call centers and Lakshi Mittals wealth hide the poverty, the filth and other problems....the Indians are jelous of the Chinese as they are ahead.
@am1966ath nope, we honestly believe we're better than the chinese. just as the west believes it's better than us because we make use of western sciences, indians are convinced the chinese are inferior because they converted to buddhism several millennia back. remember that? hinduism is obviously > buddhism, so india > china.
@nactan The wests belief of superiority comes from colonialism, and bad publicity. European cities like London and Paris were as filthy and full of poor ,200years ago as Calcutta is today. The chinese smashed religions, traditions and history during cultural revolution..they all became alike in Mao-costumes. Why do Indians always compare themselves to the chinese? development must take place according to the traditions and conditions of each culture..it took many western societies 100years
@am1966ath we don't. we don't even think about the chinese. our national consciousness is focused on indians, muslims and westerners. the rest of asia, excepting japan, is sort of relegated to the status of backward asian provinces that have seen a lot of development lately. the relative successes of china fill us with pride because, un-aryan as they may be, they are nevertheless Asians Just Like Us. just my impression.
@nactan to reach the development and prosperity that parts of China is enjoying today. Buddhism in China is mostly dead, as are the chinese traditions..thats why the chinese are so rude and ruthless..they are also ruled by a communist party that would/could make a profit in Aushwitz conditions, look at their co-operation with North korea, khmer rouge and Zimbabwe.
Yea being an indian I agree with most of the things that you said...
most of the people from india will simply try to bash you since they just can not accept the truth...
anyways but I guess buddy this video was meant for something else, y do you always need to be angry on something... India is a good place... not everyone is corrupt and not everyone likes the caste system...
@sodatta11 how do you know I am one dear ? people like you who get all understanding and sympathetic to foreign bigots just because they are foreign disgust me.
I disgust you .. perhaps its not me rather the negativity that attracts you more.. often you ignore such posts that are in line of your thoughts and do not "disgust you". anything that does not abide by your inept point of view "disgusts you"... and the keyboard is all you have to help you out... :)
well, whatever makes you happy... an attempt to denounce your judgmental view on me will never convince you that I'm not the way you think i am.. if I had to go your way I'll start responding to you in the same manner as yours and that will disgust you even more.. and you know the easiest think to do is to vouch for your phony presence on a youtube channel insipidly where you are not answerable for your words or views... :)
@pcermomb well census 2010 of education shows that 95% of children under the age of 5 attend school and 87% pass high school....our adult literacy rate which stands at 78% now will touch 85% by 2015 and above 90% by 2020 as india is basically a young nation with 40% of people not adult...there no mistreatment of women in india..who told you that...any1 who surfers here is because he is either weak or accepts to be so...a smart lower caste or woman can do wonders with the help of powerful media!
