I have used the pg solution for about a year and have had great results. It is very inexpensive and is a great product for people that have a hard time regulating their humidor.
Hey everyone! We're already in week 10 (can you believe it?!), but there's still a lot of time to go! Check out this week's StogieBoys Pigskin Pick 'Em Preview video where Paul and Glen discuss their picks for the week, some nice stogies, and beautiful women. Don't forget to head on over to StogieBoys[dot]com to join our FREE NFL pool--free to enter, free to play--and you just might win one of our weekly prizes (thousands of dollars of give-aways!)
Anybody interested in cigars ought to check out this deal thompson cigar has going on right this moment, for $20 I just now received a bunch of variety of cigars which was entirely worth every penny! Thompsoncigar-PH16.Co.Cc
I also don't understand the point of using PG/Water solution with humidity crystals. My understanding is that the crystals themselves regulate the release/absorption of water so what is the purpose of adding PG to the mix?
I've never fully understood using the PG/Water mixtures for continually refilling humidification media. It doesn't evaporate which means more will be left behind in each refill regardless of what the ratio is to begin with? Does this not eventually saturate the media with PG only and prevent it from absorbing water? Seems after the first fill you should use distilled only.
If 50/50 PG and distilled water is bad then what is the proper mixture? I think the guy from XIKAR just wants to sell XIKAR solution instead of tell us what is proper.
@stabnshoot You're absolutely correct! XIKAR has done numerous lab tests, field testing and research. The best PG Solution on the market today is XIKAR. Our proprietary solution mixture is specially formulated to be the best and will never be disclosed. Ask your local retailer for a recommendation and find out what retains 70% RH the best... it's not distilled water.

after the salt test, why would it read 75%? shouldn't it be 70%?

@Donrobosa The solution of salt and water gives a pure 75 RH thats the point to calibrate it
