Some one said to me that "You must know celebrities, it's how the world works." and my response was "That's not how the world works, that's how the western world works. I fact, less than that. It's how a teenage enviroment works."

You could be seen as implying that even someone brought up in the most progressive environment imaginable, with maximized freedom, opportunity, health, happiness, longevity and so on has been subjected to value these things only as a result of brainwashing. Otherwise your point is valid, if rather painfully obvious.
Every single Human Being on this planet is a "Miracle!" We are all born from the sperm and the egg we cannot even see with the naked eye; and we are all born with an innate feeling of love... it is only when we start to be dictated by culture, religion and society that this natural feeling becomes controlled. Please read: wake-upbeforeitstoolate(dot)com and understand how we have all been mislead and lied to for total control over this innate feeling of love and freedom.
@einrib4truth Atheism preaches many lies and one of them is that your local church is going to control you. But they don't. They don't even know where you live. So its God you are running from, and since He made you, He wants all of you back willfully on your part. Willfully and obediently to his moral code. And he wants you to develop higher ethics and virtues than you could naturally, by building up and obeying the Spirit of Truth. Whats so hard to understand about that?
The maker of this video is an atheist who is telling viewers he is brave for having shaken off the natural brainwashing effects of society to enter into the free thinking of Atheism where he has indoctrinated himself with their brainwashing, so now folks; you too must step up to the plate and take a swing for Atheism and the freedom to brainwash yourself with the most ignorant dogma of them = unbelief with no moral code and an inbred hatred for God and his people.
@MegaSage007 Hilariously ignorant comment. Atheism is the *lack* of belief but which also implies a respect for evidence over dogma; this is why the overwhelming majority (90%+) of scientists are atheists. Also, atheists don't "hate god" because *we don't believe in god*, get it? We're not crazy about *religion* and what it does to people, and in turn what those people do to us. As for morals, they have naturally evolved as a consequence of living in social groups - think about it.
@hznfrst Sure I'll ask Lenin and Stalin and Pol Pot and Trotsky and Madalyn Murray Ohare about evolving morals and each one will have a wonderful statement for you to consider just how wrong you are about making up presumptuous truths, you and your friendly godless atheist scientists whom you boast about who cannot prove where the supremely intelligently designed universe came from or why it is here. I don't teach religion by the way. I represent your Designer who knows you perfectly.
@hznfrst Your continued arrogance and use of derogatory terms proves you have no moral code, no virtue, no ethics and are very close to become a reprobate if you are not already one as St Paul said would happen to those who choose the Atheist path. Romans 1:28/32
@MegaSage007 I see, disagreeing with your god delusion is "arrogant." I guess the truth hurts when you've been brainwashed. I happen to have very good morals, by the way, and it's quite insulting for you to claim otherwise. We can see what happens when people use 'holy' texts for their 'moral' guides, and that's a neverending series of wars and hatred against the 'infidel.' Ethics arise naturally from evolving in social groups: parents naturally love their children, neighbors, etc.
@hznfrst You mean for us to understand morals originated in an amoeba and developed in our species and we evolved into the highly intelligent beings we are now?
@hznfrst The reason so many theists assume atheists have an ulterior motive is they have been taught that, deep down, everyone knows God exists. So when anyone expresses a lack of belief they assume that person is lying, even to themselves.
There is no point in trying to have a rational discussion with someone who doubts the sincerity of your position. They must first accept you genuinely belive what you claim to belive before any meaningful exchange of ideas can take place.
@studentofsmith You can't have a ''meaningful exchange'' with someone who has never studied science [Evilution is a religion] or understands logic. [You can't prove there is no God]
we must change the way we think. we must act as one, we are not separated nor divided. we are all the same under the lavish clothes we wear and the pride tat burdens us! WE MUST CONNECT TO ATTAIN THE COMMON GOAL OF KNOWING THE ULTIMATE TRUTH!
Different thoughts on all issues is good but realize that the mainstream media plays off of these stereotypes to get you divided....keep this in mind and you'll do fine
And what faulty way of thinking do People arrive at? In a word Liberalism. Believe it or not Nationalism in its truest and purest form is the most righteous form of Government and would actually do the best job of solving problems. Europe today has far more problems under the European Union than it did in the year 1935 when several European Countries had a Nationalist form of Government which is just about the opposite of the EU. Careful analyzing of facts shows this to be true.
@SimplyStupidNews That is the "open minded" theory and well intentioned as it may be what it really amounts to is the empty headed theory. People should look at both sides of an equation that is both sides of an issue on the other hand it should not take forever and a day to know what the facts and truth are. Misguided emotionalism and complete misinterpretations of the Bible and what morals are as well as brainwashing by the news and entertainment industries lead to a faulty way of thinking.
I was a christian at one point in my life but I relised I felt oppressed and restricted individualy and intellectualy. The idea that to be a good christian is to give up your autonomy and freethought and to reject ratinal scientific view for traditinal creationist theology! Thats pretty much dogmatic. I also never liked being told how to think, christians tried to tell me listoning to metallica, megadeath, slayer, and anthrax is evil! Christians= The PMRC
Ron, you speak the truth. In German, there's a word for what you describe: Feindbild. It's hard to overcome the way we percieve what we consider to be our enemies, but it's something that's worth working on.
Perception is key yes. As you percieve your surrounding and your role you play in it, so shall you walk it. All mans illusions of ditraction and indulgence is power to the insanelly wealthy few. Beaurocratic Capitalism just aint democracy.
My mind was opened a couple of years ago and I saw that we (even me) are all deceived about what influences us. There is no to avoid it if you think it can't happen to you. Once you see that it can and does, you begin to see truth. The truth is, as hard as it is to reach this group, Jesus is the only hope we have. There is no other name under heaven by which men are called to be saved. I'm older than dirt and I've got of life behind me; it makes perfect sense, Jesus is Lord of all.
The great thing about being an atheist is that you can say, "If I were born in India, I'd be an atheist. If I were born in Ireland, I'd be an atheist."
Anyway, I agree with the video 100%. "Question everything" is my middle-name. Well, not literally, that would be weird.
Well, everyone's born an atheist. There are pitfalls along the way, some of us are subject to certain attempts at brainwashing by parents, society and some of our contemporaries, but generally atheists end up where they are regardless of their upbringing.
to a person who can separate bad ideology from good people, your video looks like an episode of south park trying to tell me the answer is somewhere in the middle.
Very observant, but IMO a more important question is to ask why? Big bang theory says we are all fractions of a singularity/related, but government says "out of many, one". "Separation of power" was part of the uncodified Constitution of the Roman Republic. Could it be the hegemony used to manipulate us is a continuation of the same Byzantine empire philosophy? Colonisation through citizenship... "America, it beats living in China!" , that's how it works. Separated we are weak, and subjugated.
@Cynthia95ish what constitutes an extreme? what's a middle-ground? why not just examine the merit of the given data? just because something is considered extreme does not mean it is false. facts > some knee-jerk notion of an illusory "middle ground."
"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.
A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."
I agree with this video, social environment is sure what makes us who we are. Now I also think that, on a political/ideological point, some are wrong and some are right about several issues, finding a "common ground" is, in my opinion, not a solution for everything. Examples : global warming or other environmental issues are scientific facts, denying it is useless and won't help progress. The US is a secular country, religious argumentation is irrelevant to condemn homosexuality, I could go on..
WOW,I GUESS I'M THE MIDDLE GROUND,WHICH LEAVES ME IN LIMBO!!!COOL VIDEO,IT'S STRAIT AND TO THE POINT AND DOESN'T BEAT AROUND THE BUSH,NOT MR.BUSH!!! LOL
The only thing you left out of your video is the fact that small details related to your general classifications that create conflict. For example, morality of liying to childern about mythology, and how generalization of parties or groups prevent proper resoulition of issues. And to top it off you lack refference to teaching the processes of critical thinking.
Nice video, but this begs the question "so where is the middle ground these days", and the answer is that some of the arguments put hold a lot more evidence and a lot more logical weight than others. There are still correct answers and wrong answers, there are still correct opinions and wrong opinions.
@formless777 Exactly. It's pretty pointless to state that "we're all indoctrinated". That's almost a tautology, but it completely ignores the important question of how we go about determining if something is true. Here, the scientific method is a good starting point with a demonstrable track record. As is the "question everything" thing mentioned in the video. Also, there's no reason that truth is a middle ground.
@formless777 In general, where middle grounds are a desirable goal is where you are not dealing with questions of what's true(Almost everyone will agree that believing true things are good and false things are bad), but rather when you are simply dealing with differences in subjective opinion. If I like chocolate icecream and you like vanilla -- there's no reason to force a single choice on both of us or fight wars over which flavor is actually the superior one. It may be for truth claims though
The middle ground is generally bad ground. It is the compromise that nobody really wants but will tolerate if the alternatives seem worse. Cowardice doth make a conscience for us all.
Far right and far left will hopefully be a thing of the past soon. I think most people who are willing to remove the mental labels they've been trained to attach and look at an individual's view one at a time will often find that we all have about 95% of our values being the same. The 5% that we may not agree on represent the items we must tolerate. How important to you is this 5%? Is there no way to tolerate it? If you continue to disagree will this 5% change? If you let it be...??
@NotSoOldHippy The architect of the matrix would like to thank you for continuing to support the 'us' vs 'them' mentality. We can only continue to control you if you choose to control each othoer. There are many people who question everything and transend what they've been taught. Your point is well taken but still limited in understanding and knowledge.
Interestingly enough, this is how you view all of these different positions from what you think each point of view you listed is.
I fit several of the labels you used, but I've never fit the perspectives you listed for them.
I understand your intent with the video, but it just seemed overtly wrong when I thought about it personally. I guess I think (hope) people are more complex than that. I like to think (again hope) that I am
At 21 you have firm opinions based mainly on your upbringing, if you are indeed a "free thinker" you will disagree with many of them by time you reach 50.
@gladItooktheredpill well that went horribly wrong for you then 0.o. On a more serious note where are you from - it's as much your community as your parents that cause this mentality.
I'm from the Greater Vancouver area of B.C in Canada. It's certainly not a bible belt by any stretch of the imagination, but at the age of 20, I made my way through the bible starting at Genesis 1:1, and became a Christian somewhere in the middle chapters of Romans. It was the most life-changing event I've ever experienced; everything changed, and I immediately knew that somehow I had been changed. I later discovered I'd experienced the new birth.
@gladItooktheredpill so you randomly picked up the bible for no reason? no friends or anyone you knew were christian? hard to belive - unless you were depressed or lonely or something that caused the irrationality of christianity to make you happier.
No, I picked it up because I had nothing else to do at the time. Who in the western world doesn't know someone who is a Christian? That's a silly and irrelevant question.
haha I grew up traveling around im athiest dont support any sports team dont have any patriotic crap in me at all lol iv lived in city and countryside so idk im fairly open minded i guess
Perhaps But do you buy any 'PRODUCT' like a brand name item. chances are because of a mild form of brainwashing called Liminal, and subliminal advertising.
Me I but whatever Is cheapest not because of the ads, and whatever's useful, or if food or drink, that supports my palette. Not because of the product placement
Remember "Brainwashing" is not just a cult like a church
@graffffik well I do have brand items but not for the brand and tbh its usually my mum that buys the brand items I usually complain about there prices being too expensive that u can get a similar one without a logo for way cheaper etc
Yes but do yo ubuy at places like McD's Taco Bell, etc instead of eating your own, chances are because of the jingles. These things like religion become engrossed into every day life. Still it's a mild form of Brainwashing, yet still it's there. I highly doubt anyone is not susceptible to it today
@graffffik eating my own? well im still just a teenager i have eaten at mcdonalds and other fast food places but only occasionally like maybe twice a year ill admit the ads do make me wanna eat there but i hardly ever watch tv so only adds i see are soundless adds that i can easily ignore
Is your thoughts your own? or what is bread into you by society and religion. We do know religion orders you to think as they do and obey the laws they set forth.
We also know you buy products based on Liminal and subliminal advertising
While I was brought up on a religious base (loosely) I actually went and reviewed said origins and found it complete bull crap.
Try thinking outside the SQUARE, or CIRCLE - look at everything objectionably
Great video. Now if only everyone has the courage to think deep and hard on this video and ask themselves these important questions. Alot of truth can be uncovered through debate, research, critical thinking and/or just talking about the issues. The best way to go about this is not to stereotype the other side and make careless assumptions, because in the end, we are all human and we should try to be humble when we begin the search. My 2 cents.
This is not tribal at all. It is caused by the prevalence of intellectual thinking as opposed to genuine intelligent thinking. The intellectual thinker takes what he sees and makes a blanket statement that he holds onto even in the face of obvious discrepancies. The intelligent thinker on the other hand considers himself above no one and is willing to change his opinion constantly. Intelligence is the great leveler, intellect is but a mimic of greatness.
Wow, don't know why I never saw this before. Great video. One of the major beefs that I have with other atheist is that that seem to ignore that people are a product of their genes and environment. This video also conceptualiises the whole "we're completely right, you're completely wrong" that ideologues of any side seem to take, like the world is black and white with nothing inbetween.
Some positions are wrong. For example, the idea that the continents are stable was replaced by tectonics. Tectonics may be elaborated on, but the other idea was just plain incorrect.
Insulting my question doesn't make you right. It just suggests that you don't have an intelligent answer.
Some people seem to be missing the point of this video. I don't think he is stating any one viewpoint here. All he seems to be doing is pointing out that we take our images of those with opposing viewpoints from our own, as being cookie cutter archetypes. Not all christians pray all day, and not all environmentalists are tree huggers. Yet i do it myself, i seem to see those who oppose my ideals as the worst of their group. It's the tribe mentality that he is pointing out.
@NoBSTV Is it likely that perspectives like in this video will also be taken absolute? Like say that a creationist concludes that he must be right because he is indeed not the way the atheist sees him. That he might conclude from now on that every time he debates an atheist he rationalizes that 'oh what I do isn't wrong it is just that the atheist sees me as a stereotype'.
Ofc this is not a problem with this video, but with people in general using good logic for bad rationalizing.
@NoBSTV I guess my problem is that the image you used of what to a creationist see an atheist as, is VERY far from reality. However the image you used of how we atheists see creationists might be only be slightly off and there is a BIG asymmetry there.
I find this to be somewhat like we are all abit brainwashed by society, but this video in no way explain the fact that people are brainwashed in very different degrees. It seems abit black and white here
@NoBSTV An open mind? You have pointed out that people of all kinds, (all people) stereo type in the extremes.
An open mind would be where you recognize that "conservative" and "liberal" are productions of a culture based on self deception. This is why religion lives on after men proved that time and space are interdependent. No space, no time. Before creation there was no time. Yet God always was? No he was not. Just as there is no God, there is no such thing as a liberal or a conservative.
@NoBSTV Beautiful work your doing here, Your videos really do radiate well, and I think that more people should watch them, just because each one of us thinks the world is out doing evil, where we could all be One, united in more than just being from somewhere, but as people, as individuals that really wanna give each other a foot up and see this world and hold precious the metal capability we have evolved into.
And everyone should be outside more, and no one should be in an cubical.
@foobee2 thats the way i seen it aswell .division seems to the enemy ,(and he looks like this)..sorry no im joking but division is wrong imo so together we move forward still questioning everything and re-evaluating aswell ....
The only thing I question in this video is that you say "almost everyone", this is definite and goes for everyone. You're indoctrinated or "brainwashed" by your predecessors' way of thinking, whether you like it or not; whether you choose to except it or not; there's no way around it. Which is also partly the reason why "freedom of choice" is such an empty statement, truly not worth much.
I was brought up as a realist. None of your stereotypical stereotypes really fit me. There are people who were raised to not stereotype, or trivialize those with whom we disagree. So, have you considered that you may be a bit audacious in accusing everybody of stereotyping?
@quosmo1 So this video's admonition to avoid thinking in terms of prejudicial stereotypes necessarily means that it's 'actually' asking you to treat flawed and/or untrue positions with undeserved credibility?
@TheNeocatZone but the examples used in this video to make the point are completely biased, there are more that don't work to support the argument than do : proving either the argument is false or that its irrelevant.
@quosmo1 I'm sorry, quosmo, I re-watched the video just now and I just do not see any kind of bias on the part of the videomaker. You're gonna have to elaborate a bit more on how you see his examples as being biased.
I was brought up religious and dropped it when I got to college and took some biology classes and then started reading about stuff on my own time. Then I was a hardcore atheist (like, kind of disgusted by all religion) until I found Alan Watts videos and started researching eastern philosophy (which isn't really a religion and isn't necessarily incompatible with atheism). Views and ideas are always changing. I have since stopped labelling myself because labels indicate a lack of change.
OK, so maybe all the "opposites" were not the best examples.... but it is still a BRILLIANT 2 minute video that those with ears should hear. Great Job! I posted a link on my FaceBook page.
Good one! The Buddhist is a little distracting yeah, but in general the video has a good point on how far peoples minds can be blind... I liked it and cant wait to see the new one "Don't take yourself so seriously". Checkout my channel bud...;-)
@NoBSTV ...it's pointing out the sort of archetypes we receive by movies and news.... :) so well nevermind what anyone points out what's correct or not as a the slideshow goes on. it's about getting the idea of archetypes or prototypes what ever we describe them
Yes i very much agree with your whole video and very often i am saying to my friends family even people i dont know at my job question EVERYTHING. Trust no one.
Now i know you dont say that but to trust people on there say so well i dont think i need to tell anyone what can then happen.
So yeah This A kick ass video and only if more people where open to real trying to think for them self things would then be better for all people everywhere.
My dad gave me a book called "of gods and men" I lost all belief because I saw their belief was contradictory, But my grandfather had total belief and i loved him and never argued with him.. We need to move beyond faith and believe in evidence.
So true.

@hznfrst Your continued arrogance and use of derogatory terms proves you have no moral code, no virtue, no ethics and are very close to become a reprobate if you are not already one as St Paul said would happen to those who choose the Atheist path. Romans 1:28/32
MegaSage007 6 months ago
@MegaSage007 I see, disagreeing with your god delusion is "arrogant." I guess the truth hurts when you've been brainwashed. I happen to have very good morals, by the way, and it's quite insulting for you to claim otherwise. We can see what happens when people use 'holy' texts for their 'moral' guides, and that's a neverending series of wars and hatred against the 'infidel.' Ethics arise naturally from evolving in social groups: parents naturally love their children, neighbors, etc.
hznfrst 5 months ago
@hznfrst You mean for us to understand morals originated in an amoeba and developed in our species and we evolved into the highly intelligent beings we are now?
MegaSage007 5 months ago
@hznfrst The reason so many theists assume atheists have an ulterior motive is they have been taught that, deep down, everyone knows God exists. So when anyone expresses a lack of belief they assume that person is lying, even to themselves.
There is no point in trying to have a rational discussion with someone who doubts the sincerity of your position. They must first accept you genuinely belive what you claim to belive before any meaningful exchange of ideas can take place.

"if you lived in India, you'd be Hindu"
Hindu is the Arabic word for Indian. This would amount to saying if you lived in India you would be Indian. Not even worth saying.
So the point is we should give up our individuality and submit to the totalitarian authority. That itself would be brainwashing.
Regardless of the intention of this video it's a waste of bandwidth. Opposites do exist. Peace is impossible. This is only an atheist cop-out.

The only thing you left out of your video is the fact that small details related to your general classifications that create conflict. For example, morality of liying to childern about mythology, and how generalization of parties or groups prevent proper resoulition of issues. And to top it off you lack refference to teaching the processes of critical thinking.
CanyonLakeTX 1 year ago
Nice video, but this begs the question "so where is the middle ground these days", and the answer is that some of the arguments put hold a lot more evidence and a lot more logical weight than others. There are still correct answers and wrong answers, there are still correct opinions and wrong opinions.
formless777 1 year ago
@formless777 Exactly. It's pretty pointless to state that "we're all indoctrinated". That's almost a tautology, but it completely ignores the important question of how we go about determining if something is true. Here, the scientific method is a good starting point with a demonstrable track record. As is the "question everything" thing mentioned in the video. Also, there's no reason that truth is a middle ground.
Gnomefro 1 year ago
@formless777 In general, where middle grounds are a desirable goal is where you are not dealing with questions of what's true(Almost everyone will agree that believing true things are good and false things are bad), but rather when you are simply dealing with differences in subjective opinion. If I like chocolate icecream and you like vanilla -- there's no reason to force a single choice on both of us or fight wars over which flavor is actually the superior one. It may be for truth claims though
Gnomefro 1 year ago
@Gnomefro
The middle ground is generally bad ground. It is the compromise that nobody really wants but will tolerate if the alternatives seem worse. Cowardice doth make a conscience for us all.
formless777 1 year ago
Far right and far left will hopefully be a thing of the past soon. I think most people who are willing to remove the mental labels they've been trained to attach and look at an individual's view one at a time will often find that we all have about 95% of our values being the same. The 5% that we may not agree on represent the items we must tolerate. How important to you is this 5%? Is there no way to tolerate it? If you continue to disagree will this 5% change? If you let it be...??

I'm from the Greater Vancouver area of B.C in Canada. It's certainly not a bible belt by any stretch of the imagination, but at the age of 20, I made my way through the bible starting at Genesis 1:1, and became a Christian somewhere in the middle chapters of Romans. It was the most life-changing event I've ever experienced; everything changed, and I immediately knew that somehow I had been changed. I later discovered I'd experienced the new birth.
gladItooktheredpill 1 year ago

Great video. Now if only everyone has the courage to think deep and hard on this video and ask themselves these important questions. Alot of truth can be uncovered through debate, research, critical thinking and/or just talking about the issues. The best way to go about this is not to stereotype the other side and make careless assumptions, because in the end, we are all human and we should try to be humble when we begin the search. My 2 cents.
ILevitesI 1 year ago
This is not tribal at all. It is caused by the prevalence of intellectual thinking as opposed to genuine intelligent thinking. The intellectual thinker takes what he sees and makes a blanket statement that he holds onto even in the face of obvious discrepancies. The intelligent thinker on the other hand considers himself above no one and is willing to change his opinion constantly. Intelligence is the great leveler, intellect is but a mimic of greatness.

@foobee2 Thank you! You watched my video with an open mind, and got the point.
NoBSTV 1 year ago 13
@NoBSTV Is it likely that perspectives like in this video will also be taken absolute? Like say that a creationist concludes that he must be right because he is indeed not the way the atheist sees him. That he might conclude from now on that every time he debates an atheist he rationalizes that 'oh what I do isn't wrong it is just that the atheist sees me as a stereotype'.
Ofc this is not a problem with this video, but with people in general using good logic for bad rationalizing.
stiaa04 1 year ago
@NoBSTV I guess my problem is that the image you used of what to a creationist see an atheist as, is VERY far from reality. However the image you used of how we atheists see creationists might be only be slightly off and there is a BIG asymmetry there.
I find this to be somewhat like we are all abit brainwashed by society, but this video in no way explain the fact that people are brainwashed in very different degrees. It seems abit black and white here
Some things are not real.
stiaa04 1 year ago
@NoBSTV An open mind? You have pointed out that people of all kinds, (all people) stereo type in the extremes.
An open mind would be where you recognize that "conservative" and "liberal" are productions of a culture based on self deception. This is why religion lives on after men proved that time and space are interdependent. No space, no time. Before creation there was no time. Yet God always was? No he was not. Just as there is no God, there is no such thing as a liberal or a conservative.
