JavaLessons-----So far I have not seen any negative effects but it does disturb my radio TV signal slightly if they are in the near proximity. The cell phone does not seem to be effected. This broadcasts in the mega hertz frequency range I don't have any pets so I don't know about cats and dogs. If it got rid of rodents and insects that would be great. lol
Awsome your using the earth as the single wire! I wonder what distance you can achive if you grounded the transmitter.

Does the circuit cause discomfort ? Physical, device(cell phones etc) functioning, do animals flee the scene, haha ?

diode in series with a resistor and capacitor,
resistor is a load , (10kohm would be good). then measure teh output voltage. might give us youtubers an idea of how many watts.
