I guess Scalia didn't have much of a choice, after all, going duck hunting with Cheney can be very dangerous when he has a shotgun to your face! So, it may not have been ethical but you can't blame the guy for being a survivor.
This topic is important, but tragically, this comes off like a liberal hit piece. Shame on AFJ and Edward James Olmos.
Would have been nice if the video had mentioned that Ginsburg and Breyer are both multi-multi-millionaires with extensive investments and have failed to excuse themselves in cases where they had conflicts of interest due to their investments.
Or that Ginsburg, like Thomas, also failed to disclose spousal income.
I have to agree most wholeheartedly with the African American Civil Rights lawyer who says that these judges have created a belief among the people that they're nothing more than political whores and and the notion of being "wise" men is now a myth. IOW they have destroyed their own credibility as being the "highest" court in the land and people now look at them as nothing more than political idealogues and opportunist.
I had no idea that Supreme Court judges do not have to take the oath of conduct like all other judges do!! That is simply staggering. Why is there such an outlandish omission? Is there some sort of belief that they are empowered with a higher form of ethical DNA? That they are exceptional? Because apparently, they are not.
Great job by Alliance for Justice on raising critical questions about ethics and SCOTUS, especially why the judicial code of conduct does not apply to Supreme Court justices.
To kazoolist: The reason the video did not mention Ginsburg forgot to disclose spousal income is because it is NOT true.
