It's all about MONEY here. The league is set up to make it more competitive with the salary caps and everything because that's what draws casual fans, and the league knows that's where the MONEY is. Look about 15 years ago and you had an awesome rivalry between the Cowboys and 49ers, Steelers and Cowboys in the 70's, etc ... but casual fans get pissed off seeing the same teams every year.
