I assume you're talking about "Thievery" during this video. I remember doing so much stealing that I maxed out the ability so it would do 9999 damage meaning I had an attack that did instant max damage for 7 MP, could never be blocked, and completely ignored enemy defense. This technically made Zidane the strongest character in any FF.

And the name he meant at 5:55 was Dagger, primarily cause she goes undercover to avoid being captured. Not really a spoiler since this game been out for 11 years and is stated through many online websites and cause it isn't vital to the story.

Now as far as I'm aware, those are the correct way to call them for the game BUT other languages does say those names differently as you pointed out(french way). So In this case you're probably right with how it's said using french but I'm speaking of the how the name was intended by Square Soft and that's how they intended it from what I know. :)

One small nitpick, but if his name was pronounced Zidaaaaan then it wouldn't have an "E" at the end. Ban and Bane sound totally different, Dan and Dane sound totally different. So it should be Zi-dane, unless you're intentionally using Japanese pronouncation, which would be kind of weird. Otherwise, great video so far. ^_^

When we take Japanese names into English we have to transliterate it into our alphabet, so our spelling would reflect English grammar. In FF12 we have ヴァン which is transliterated Vaan. If they'd wanted ジタン to read Zidaan then they wouldn't have spelled it Zidane.

@chrizz1500 Me. Other characters deal more or less the same damage as he does later on in the game without spending MP, rendering him useless in the long run. And in the short run, constantly healing him makes him a liability. I always leave him on 0 HP. More EXP for everyone else, and by the time elemental weaknesses actually matter, Garnet is capable of summoning. I just don't find Vivi, or black mages in general, useful at all.

I'm not a fan of the trance system, mainly because its power is uneven on characters. Zidane can become unstoppable with it while some other characters hardly benefit from it. I preferred FFX in that regard, where everyone's limit break was a distinct gimmick that was also really useful.

I heard people talk shit about FF8's battle mechanics and junction system and all that long before I actually played it. It wasn't until I did play it that I realised HOW awfully bad it really was. I totally despise all that, having to draw magic and select different abilities and do all kinds of crap with your GFs. It was way too complicated, which is the reason it's my least favorite of the main series, except for 13.

FF9 is a masterpiece though, and the battle system is brilliant.
