Tried a Ram 1500 Crew cab outdoorsman edition a while ago out. I have to say, they're really nice trucks, they ride great and they feel like they have more room in them than even the F150 supercab model.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that THERE IS an instant fuel economy reading on these trucks. At the bottom of the Fuel Economy display screen, there is a bar graph that fluctuates as you drive. It has "10, 20, 30" at the top, along with a carrot "v". The Carrot is your average, and the end of the graph is your instantaneous. When stationary, your instantaneous is "0," so many people overlook this feature, but it is there!

google for "dodge ram gas mileage", there is a long chart for mpg , you see in city most are between 9 to 14 miles per gallon....my question is this , do really all the owners need such big pickups ?! Or just they buy it as a status symbol ,even though they can't afford the cost of gas for them ,and consequently don't drive them actually so much !! Can we call it a mental problem ?!

@austinman1995 yeah, but the hemi comes with that HEMI badge which lets all those high school punks driving hondas know they will get their ass kicked if they try to race. sure, the 4.7 might be ENOUGH, but I don't want just enough. I want the respect of being/having the best!!

@austinman1995 yeah i got a 4.8 in my 08 sierra 4x4 and i got plenty of power but i got k and n cold air intake and flowmasters so im pushin 345hp but i get 15 in the city and 21 and 22 on the freeway.

While the ram does not offer an extended cab, the quad cab is the equivalent to an extended cab because of it's size. The crew cab is comparable to the crews on ford and gm, but the quad is like the extended cabs. But it is a little more convenient die to the four car type doors.

Dodge is building some good trucks these days. Some of the older dodges wasnt up to ford and chevys standards But they always have built good engines.

Finally, a review with a 4.7. The hemi only get better economy because of the MDS. Off MDS; the hemi will slurp fuel like a pig.

If I recall correctly, don't the 5.7 hemi's get even better mileage? My brother has one, and with the MDS he gets around 22mpg highway at 65 mph... soo... :|

@fenixans I beg to differ. With it disabled, he got around 17mpg on the highway. Every little bit helps when you have a truck and drive on the interstate often.

@lightsy2010 Typically, yes. The Hemi offers MDS, and is rated higher by the EPA. The Hemi is a performance motor, though. And it will use lots of fuel if you push it. Don't hot rod it and expect great fuel economy. But, keep it in MDS and your averages will shoot up quickly.

Ill say the Ram. I want to buy one of those trucks and seen couple of reviews and videos. Here in canada, a Ram Laramie full full equipe is like 40 000$. A freakin F-150, lets say Lariat one to compare is like 45 and more. So, you got a great 5.7 engine, truck look much more great ( to me ) and ill save more than 10 000$

I dont know where you would hear that, the Ram is the most awarded truck out there, shit my 80s Rams with over 600K are sitll going strong. Theyre built great. Gms are ok trucks too but Fords are just pieces of k mart cheap shit

Oh I see. I never owned either I cant really say first hand. I guess there are fans of both sides of it. I hear the Tundra is nice too though. I rather stick with American made if I was to get a pick up truck. I wish Dodge would have still continued the extended cab versions. I hate that they make you choose between regular and quad cab now. Also Dodge and Chrysler are going out of business I think so I'd rather have a brand that's going to be there in the end.

I do really like the Ram tho.

The new Rams are certainly nice, you can't knock the coil-sprung rear suspension for a pleasent and smooth ride! I can't help but notice the configuration of your test truck, though. Is that a 6.4' bed, mated to the regular cab? It looks great!

Coils are actually great off road too! the Ram would keep up with the Raptor maybe for not as long but it would! the Power Wagon is a much better truck with more capabilities than the Raptor.

the Raptor is ok but kind of pointless, a production Baja truck that doesn't even have as much torque as the Ram, and just goes fast on dirt roads, i think Raptor owners are going to piss off their neighbors that live on the dirt roads haha, I prefer the Ram, I own Fords too, GMs as well.

It took a real light foot. A lot of stop-and-go will bring the numbers down, but that's par for the course.

Thanks for the input on the gauge brightness ... I'm not sure if I had the dash dimmer turned all the way up, or not. MPGs are what they are ... America needs a light-duty diesel ...

@mpgomatic the only light duty diesel we're getting is the 4cyl mahindra from india. butt ugly truck. They still haven't released the mpg figures from the v6 ecoboost f150 which i've been waiting for.

@theclipper505 What do you expect for mileage from a V8? Especially from a midrange 4.7l V8 that doesn't have the MDS system that the 5.7L Hemi has. I would say 20mpg is pretty good for a truck.
