  • See I like east coast style, the westcoast style, and the dirty south style it's all good to me. The only thing I dont like about commerical rap (nonhiphop) music is that there is little to NO variety.(every song you hear sounds the same.)

  • The south did not destroy hip hop. Jealousy did. First the ny came out.(bronx created) then the east coast came out... Then the west coast came out (with their own style) and west coast rappers stared going platinum. Then came the ny haters. Then ny stared going platinum, then west stared hating. Then while they stared hating the south emerged.

  • who killed hip hop is the ones who rap about money hoes and jewely and for the record rappers from west to north to east and down south do this so the means everyside did their part in killing rap stop blaming a coast/side punks

  • music has gone down the drain due to these clowns the record companies promoting

  • He said it right exactly Hip Hop is one style now. When will it end? Arrested Development were unique and always have been. Classic group.

  • South Hip Hop had Brainwashed Black People PERIOD from Chicago and All over Michigan. I'm from Detroit and I'm a HUGE East Coast Old Hip Hop/ Underground fan 4 LIFE.

  • Newyork rappers yall done fell off! yall don't have it no more.So I keep it southern punks!

  • @1xoirc wtf????

  • @heartboy86 Thats right,Newyork rappers are not hot no more.TRUE or False?

  • @1xoirc lmao so jay z,busta, nas, freeway, beanie segal, fab, true or false, alot garbage has came out of the south lately right.like they guy mentioned earlier some of the south stuff isnt hip hop...

  • @heartboy86 Yes,I agree the South has some lame rappers. But its whats getting airplay. You can have your say on what you feel. But they can care less. The South took over.

  • @1xoirc also joe budden, immortal tech, jadakiss,so i'm trying to figure out how did it fall out,let alone the underground because mainstrem is full of shit, and that's when "southern' rap got really famous, outkast and scareface are among the best from the south but the south has produced some horrible rappers

  • @heartboy86You going back in the 90's early 2000's man.And yes I agree that music has changed.Southern rap is not what it was when "Goodiemob","Outkast"were doing feel good music.Newyork hip hop was king back in the days. Was,past tense but now its quiet.

  • @1xoirc how? all of them are still active in the game, the north has and still are producing the best rappers period, whether its underground or mainstrem,im not the biggest of jay z fan but the boy is still doing his thing.

  • @1xoirc lol south took over what??? im sorry bro but the south didnt take over NOTHING,if anything the midwest is the hottest right now with tech nine, kayne,em,royce 5'9,lupe,common,kid cudi, the south got some play no lie but take over???naw

  • @heartboy86 EM,Royce??are those artist getting any attention?Who really talks about those people?Idk maybe because I dont listen to their music.Yes artist from the south made an impact.

  • This is what all hip-hop should be. Hip-hop with real instruments. It's fucking awesome, man.

  • i mean you can blame the south all you want but i really don't think that's the problem in my eyes hip hop started to sound like shit after the 90's now granted their are a few rappers today people always look for someone to blame but really it just this era's fad blaming a certain region is just dumb their alot of talented southern rappers their just not mainstream follow the underground you tend to find alot of talent.

  • dumb southerners........

  • tha south cant get a bad rap cuz of solja boy thats fucked up we still got zro trae bun b chamill

  • Where's part one?

  • oh man i haven't listened to Arrested Development in years let me get some of their shit on my ipod.

anyways for every 1 good south rapper you have 10 completely trash ones.

  • 2010 lil wayne, soulja boy, plies etc...southern rap has not only destroyed rap but it has destroyed black people mind. I call southern rap black face music or bojangles music

  • hip hop is not the only form of music thats dead. i here country and rock singers saying the same shit we saying about hip hop. think about it. when was the last time you seen a real rock group? or a real country singer that wasnt like taylor swift thats really a pop artist?

  • Hiphop is party songs to that's how hiphop stared out or have u forgotten that we need tha party songs hiphop was created from the youth and if your ova 27 i feel u need to start with tha old school shit hiphop is for the youth please say song Internet thug shit to me cause I love that

  • @Playatbone85 Dont be biased just because you live in the south. I have lived in the south too. Yes it has went from regional to global. I have seen plenty swag surfing stanky leg videos. Not to say that I dont turn the channel when I see them. But they're there. But the corporate world has magnified this crap. Hip-hop or rap rather is unconscious these days. Compared to what I grew up on.

  • i'm panamanian i grew up afro latin beats reggae and african music i like averything from hip hap to blues i dont want to start none but i always had more respect for the southern music i like their beat better but some of the words in the music today is like i can't listing to it at home i have children peace

  • Truth be told arrested development was the first hip hop group i connected with. Being from a rural area in the south, I never thought that hip hop was apart of me until they cam along.

  • Someone needs to flood the Internet, Radio, and TV with this interview. Southern Flip Flop has truly brought Americans (especially Af. Americans) down a few notches in terms of taste in music. The majority of the music has no depth and relies on chanting jibberish throughout the entirety of the song. Also, might I add the production is usually terrible.

I don't even classify it as Hip Hop. It has morphed into something of a class of its own. Hip Hop is Art. Waka Flaka Flame is not Hip Hop.

  • you damn right you damn mothafuckin right couldnt agree more

  • The southern rappers are the most prominent now. So.... Nas gets no play. Common gets no play.. Dont be biased. Be real. Since the south took over rap it went even further down hill. Minstrel show stanky legs, swag surfing, rapping like run away slaves. That's what sells. Let's be real. We are dumbing down our youth with this crap. Your shucking and jiving along with it. BE REAL!! Name on conscious rapper from down south. Maybe Jay Electronic and he just came out. Shit sells!!

  • we rappin about dancin but at least we aint killin. mattahfact, what were the first rap songs about? we dont have alot of conscious rappers, but we got some of the best rappers. The whole Screwed Up Clicc go hard, Geto Boys went hard, Outkast went hard. How you gonna diss the south? You just talkin shit about your ancestors. I remember when the South didnt get NO play at all. Now that we do, niggas hatin. The South aint kill Hip Hop. We changed ourselves to get played. YALL killed Hip Hop

  • The south didnt kill hip hop because what they doing isnt hip hop.

  • @HipHop226 PREACH ON BROTHER. THIS NEW SOUTHERN RAP IS NOT HIP HOP. THE SOUTHERN RAPPERS IN EARLY & MID 90'S WAS ALOT BETTER

  • @HipHop226 wat i'm doing is hip-hop and i'm from the south. check me out and comment

  • @killervjh That was nice. I can tell you like Eminem.

  • @HipHop226 yea i do. and thanks

  • @zgeez How it take over when its never on tv I aint never seen a stanky leg video or jerkin video which is west coast by the way and Have you forgotin about the UGK Geto boys Scarface Outkast TI Zro smy

  • crappy music just isn't coming from down south. this trash rap movement is global, lol.

  • It's not just southern hip hop. It's all corporate sponsored hip hop today. It has been purposely watered down so that there is no transfer of any meaningful knowledge to the listener anymore. As far as the record execs are concerned, the dumber the better. They continue to make billions while the average hip hop fan emulates the fabricated images of the coonin rap artist. Real hip hop has gone underground. I long for the day that it returns to the surface.

  • true true true

  • @madefrom9. The issue is the mainstream market. Once hip hop began expanding to the white community, the shit went sour. Mos white kids seem to prefer a stereotypical and regressive sound due to the nation's value systems.

  • @raptorkiller2k5 Agreed.

  • @madefrom9 Thats real Talk yo!! I totally agree with your post.

  • @madrecka Thanks bro. I wish it wasn't but unfortunately it is. Peace.

  • it ain't southern hip-hop thats bad ...its main stream hip-hop........old school H.H. is real hip-hop south ,north ,east ,west

  • Co-Sign

  • true

  • that's word fam...speech is definitely one of those south brothaz I love and respect in hip-hop mann, he's real..

  • There is a thousand miles difference between the "Southern rap" of Speech and that of idiots like Soulja, Gucci Mane, Flo-rida and the like. Arrested Development, including the rhymes of Speech, were meaningful and soulful, unlike the new breed of rap-destroyers

  • Amazing Performer. Organic and real!

  • they are one of my all time favs

    screw corp run media....

    free the artist"s !!!!

thanks for all you do DaveyD

  • I agree with Speak. I'll be glad to see the music change again to its original gracious quality. The music has run aground these days and the media has everything to do with it. Young, aspiring artists have no idea of what the history of the music is. They are concocting combinations of music modeled by what the streets and the media tell them to make. These are timely comments Speak has made.

  • @ msweetie.... It's "Speech" fam, not "Speak" ! Either way, you're right on point. Cheers. If you never did, check out Arrested Development's "3 Years.." album and, most definitely, their "Zingalamaduni" album, which I think contains some of the best music ever made.
