You can if you want, but more times than not, the pressure you use while on a flat pannel, becomes focused on the raised area, it removes all the paint. You can use some painters tape, and lay it right on the line of the raised surface, and sand right up too it, change sides, and repeat, when you pull the tape off, you won't even see the lack of sanding on the seams. Jarred from Rad Rides also uses this trick, and his body work goes too SEMA.
Dan want to say 1 thing it's also a good plan i think 2 place your garagedoor on the side in the shade then the heat dont don't dry's u out the son is gone and looks dam hot the blazer make a dark flame paintjob in dark blue or black into the red then it's perfect

if you wanted to do the design on the hood to blend, mehaps you could enlongate the pointed end so it could wrap around and up onto the hood, so you would have twin "v's" to complement the raised portion of the hood while still stickin to the initial design. looks good though and always keep it up
