Do people even know what a sellout is now-a-days? If musicians stuck to the same old same old stuff, it would become distasteful. Ill give you an example, and kinda a weird one, so bare with me: Look at Call of Duty. The game sells like hot cakes, but its still the same game from 7 years ago. Madden? Same thing. People have lost interest in these things because its the same old shit. Mastodon is evolving, just like any other musician would.

Someone has to say it; Hunter is a sellout. I don't care what the lyrics are saying, and Mastodon just walked away, like cowards, from the way their lyrics sounded/blended with that chaotic mad fury of their music. This is all distilled watered down pablum so more people like it, is all this is. A thumbs up for this effort is a thumbs up for mediocrity. The art kick ass as usual, so that's a good sign at least.
