This is deceiving ..it sounds like their original style which had very much a POP feel. Elvis infused the song with his maniacal energy intensity, abandon, energy we associate with Rock...Elvis was the one who infused this song with what knocked the world on it's ear and set it on fire. Just listen to Bill Haley's, Big Joe's, and Elvis's versions. None wrote the song and each infused their style. E's style rocked the world..and everyone learned from it incl. Bill Haley I see!

I knew John (Bam Bam) Lane for 37 years. My father played with the comets from the time John started the group. John, Spider, Chuck, Reed, and Dave (my father and Lead Singer). This group was the best. Sadly my father passed awaw in 1998, I don't know these new band members, But what I do know is that John put his heart and soul into the group. The problem is all these other comet groups are upset that they can't use the name anymore. GET OVER IT.

My dad played with this band he sang lead and played guitar. Bam Bam was a band member of the comets. I never heard him say he was the orginal drummer. John and the rest of the band even came to my dads funeral. dad died back in 1998. I have a video that a guy who was a big fan of dads music recorded over several years. atleast I have that to remember him by. thank you David L

This is John Bam Bam Lane's version of Bill Haley's Comets with Lenny Longo on lead vocals. Lane was Haley's drummer from around 1964-68. He died in February 2007.

Three of the original Comets JOey Ambrose (sax), DIck Richards (drums) and MARShall Lyttle (bass) left and formed JODIMARS (work it out) who were a fantastic band. Any rock 'n' roll fan should have a copy of their album (It's still available). Some new members came in who were also pretty damn good, but I don't know who this bunch of piss-takers are. The original Comets/Jodimars are still touring (I saw them a couple of years ago and they were fantastic.

First off--these AIN'T the Original Comets, no matter what ANY piece of paper at the county clerk's or the Trademark office says...they STOLE the name, because Haley's "managers" didn't have the horse sense to obtain a federal nor international Servicemark--so the day he died there was a "Comets" band on a live late night TV show...before his body even got cold!

None of the band members are original Comets. Dick Richards was the original drummer, and he's playing in Branson with other surviving members of the original group. This bunch is a joke. Go to Branson and check out Joey Ambrose on the sax, and Marshall on the slap bass.

Looks like Bam-Bam's gone on a diet. Just to be straight, YesMan has it right -- these aren't the originals. The original band is playing at Dick Clark's theatre in Branson (as of summer 2006). That said, not a bad performance. Too bad the vid has gaps in it.
