Can anyone let me know why Sebelius is liked more than Finale. All my friends say I made a mistake in getting Finale PrintMusic instead, but the instrument sounds in Finale are at least remotely real, these all sound like they're from some 80's keyboard, escpecially the trumpet. Can someone fill me in?
Is there an easy way to write scales using notes without stems. I find Sibelius is not user friendly when it comes to writing extracts for a music book. It insists you write according to a time signature and dictates how many notes will be in a line. is there any way to get round these standardisations?
@bzeliotis Yes, there is. First, House Styles > Engraving Rules > Barlines > Default Barline Type and then check out Plugins > Composing Tools > Draw Free Rhythm Barline.
There is nothing clear about this screen you need to up load this video in higher detail if you wish to educate people. All I can see its a blury image here.
I have not yet found ANY software to have one simple feature that a very old software like cakewalk happens to have: the ability to move from FULL SCORE view (like the one on this video) to SOLO PART view, so I can print the solo part for the musicians!
Oh, but you can in Sibelius! There is a drop-down menu, seen right in the middle of the toolbar at top of screen, with which you can select any part in the score to view on its own.
I know your post is 6 months old, but just wanted to reply. I've yet to see a program that didn't have that feature. You just have to know what to look for. In the version of Finale I have, you have to click "File" and "Export Parts" or something like that...can't remember right off the top of my head. Anyway, like I said, you just have to know what to look for. Features can have different terminology in different programs.
Yes thats just what I mean, almost every other program has THAT feature: "export" or "extract" where you can aislate one track from the hole, but then you end up with that one track ONLY and cant go back to the full !
What do you mean you can't go back to the full? In Sibelius and Finale you can. I can't remember how in Sibelius right off the top of my head, but I know in Finale (well...Finale 2003 since that's the one I have) when you isolate one part, it just opens it up in a new sub-window. It sounds like you haven't tried any of these programs and tried out these features. Because you can do all the things you are talking about. I know because i've done them all throughout college.
Can somebody help me by telling me how u get the thing which tells you to play an octave higher in the score using sibelius. this thing: 8va_________|
hi can anyone help me? i don't like using sibelius that much because i find the interface to write music not that good compared to cakewalk home studio (as it's drag and drop with the note sound but sibelius doesn't do). but i am having trouble configuring the midi software with the music program (i use vista) but midi software (roland) is definately there. i obviously went to midi configuration and all that but it doesn't even show on the list. recommendation?
You can individually edit the velocity of each note in the Live Playback properties. Also Sibelius 5 is a VST host so you can use any VST easily by simply directing Sibelius to your VST folder on your computer.
Guitar Pro can only do what a guitar can do. For example a standard triad chord on a keyboard cannot be wrtten in musical notation on GUitar Pro because those notes have to be played on the sme string. Which is impossible obviously. Sibelius is the ultimate scoring software.
Yes I've encountered those problems (after I wrote the first comment) and others too, you can't choose what clef you want to use, and you can't even use double clefs for one instrument!
Hi, pls can you rewrite text under "Witch hunt" .... i want to listen this song in original version. Thank you for future :-)

It's still possible to get Sib 4, but it's the same price as Sib 5, so you might as well get the latest version.
