  • I bet is the same casing as for the Jv-1000....

  • hey studio f would this be a nice workstation for use in a metal core band i am also looking at the xp30 and xp50 can you recommend me one thanks

  • Does anyone know if the lowest "e" on a 76-key keyboard is lower in tone than the lowest "c" on a 73-key keyboard..???

  • @divinelykeyed with octave control and coarse tune does it matter?

  • @LaughingOTI80 no but i just want to know

  • @LaughingOTI80 well i know now still...the lower e on the 76 key is lower in tone

  • Which patch is the one at 1:15 ? I love it.

  • ello ... I need to know how and where to connect the pedal to sustain or depht roland xp-80 ... thanks ...

  • im sure this has been asked but are these all sounds straight from the roland?

  • @ETSJoshVoxx Yes.

  • This comment does not represent the true power of my comments.

  • Do you or anyone know which program to connect the synth roland xp 80 to the computer or where I can find on the Internet?

  • I'm buying mines tomorrow from "Cash America Pawn Shop for 300$. is that a good deal?

  • Whats the difference between an xp 80 and xp 60

  • @Digital18Devil just more keys

  • @Digital18Devil 80 = 76 keys. 60 = 61 keys. Xp 50 is the same as Xp 60, but with a reduced display. Just this.

  • @Digital18Devil Actually nothing. If the xp60 was first, they wanted to make a 76 weigthed key version and if the xp-80 was first, they wanted to make a simpler, more compact version.

  • I have also a Roland XP-80! I know the music at 2:10 and 8:56, that's from Jean Michel Jarre :-)

  • wow i want one! beautiful synth

  • ARE YOU SELLING IT BECAUSE I HAVE ONE ...BUT THE PINK GLUE THAT HOLDS THE WEIGHT IN THE KEYS ARE COMING OFF SO SOMETIME THEY STICK ANY SUGGESTION ON HOW I CAN CLEAN IT

  • @LIBERTIN20 No i don't sell it. and how to clean it.... i really dont know. i don't have that problem with my XP-80. i'm sorry that i can't help you

  • @LIBERTIN20

I found using claustic soda/ diluted in water removes the glue. Here's what to do:

    1. Remove back cover, backing plates then the key screws and unclip cable connectors on the XP-80.

    2. Put keys (all taken out including springs) into boiling water then gently prise weights out (with a screwdriver etc).

    3. Then soak weights AND keys into the claustic soda dilution.

    4. Reinstall with proper glue then put synth back together.

Hopefully this will help, and sorry for a 7 month late reply!

  • Spectacular demo you demonstrate here!! Years ago back in 1996 i remember the two: XP-80 and XP-50, i like it and the worse is....i never had one myself, i bought a crappy Roland E-500 in 1997 instead that you only can store and edit chorus, DSP effects on 128 sounds out of 270 it has in total. Well this is a arranger keyboard i bought that i'm not satisfied since day 2, didn't have a lot of money at the time and wish i had a sinthesizer with 16-track sequencer. I like your XP-80!!

  • Hi there, What sound and bank is the preset from 1.11 I love the Jarre phazed sound. I have had my XP80 from new ...1999 and still love it !!!

  • hi dude, does the XP-10 have the same sound engine? or similar?

  • @chelok77 Yes it has.

  • @StudioF Not at all do some research before making a statement. If it was it could take expansion cards. Xp30 and up are the same.

  • Comment removed

  • @chelok77XP-80, XP-60, XP-50 and XP-30 share the same engine (also modules JV-1080, JV-2080, JV-1010). All above mentioned synthesizers and modules are compatible.

XP-10 has completely different engine, based on cheap Sound Canvas modules, used in many low priced products.

  • hi dude, does the XP-10 have the same sound engine? or similar?

  • If u have a whole song programmed in the xp how do u get a good mixdown? i cant figure out how to apply seperate EQ settings for each channel, everything sounds muddy cause i can not figure out how to eq each instrument without changing all the others (using stereo eq efx) is there another way???

  • the best way is to record all the tracks seperate from eachother, only then you can mix every track the way you like it

  • @bonusbmusic that's the problem with the old workstations...can't do independent tweaking for each track...

  • The XP-80 is a great Keyboard!

  • 64voice Piano | West Coast | Film Octaves | Fly Waltz | Waterhodes Patches

  • Great demo!! It helps a lot! But I have a question, does the XP-50 have the same sound engine? I mean does it sound the same?

  • yes it's the same engine, they sound the same.

  • Is there a weighted key version of the keyboard?

  • heje chronologie :)

    very nice demo performance

  • it was hard not to play chronologie 2 with that cathedral organ. one of the best sounds in the XP-80 :-)

  • 7:05-7:22 patch is freakin massive!

  • Sound like "Film Octaves" patch :)

  • Sure it does, I googled it!

I'm looking for this in my JUNO-D LE right now :)

  • yes it is

  • Netherlands... the home of Maggie McNeal , Shocking Blue, Annie Frank... good times.

  • This is the sinth I still use in my home studio. I pre record by using its own sequencer, them I transfer the same song to the computer.

  • hey milkwayusa, can u tell me how u did that? im trying to learn but i just dont get how the sequencer works

  • go to the mode section : perform= band style: part = single instrument. Press PERFORM , press SEQUENCER. Move the cursor to part/track select a track and an intrument. . pres RECORD, play and press STOP. press PLAY and listen to it. Repeat with others instruments. You will hear previous material while recording other instrument. the UNDO is valid only 4 the last recording.when you're done, Insert a disket, formatt it and save the song. Others functions you'll learn by handling it.

  • hey thanks that helped alot, but the only thing wrong is that i cant seem to hear what i recorded :(

i can see it playing on the screen when i pres PLAY but i still cant hear it. do you have any idea why this could be?

  • You can't hear XP 80 unless you plug a headphone or a speaker to it. . In this video, it's plugged to a speaker.

If you hear the sound when playing or recording but can't hear what is recorded, something is incorrect. One question: Is English your native language ?

  • I must say this xp80 is far more easy to use than my korg triton.... Many sounds are better too.

  • If anyone wants to buy one, I have a mint condition one for sale

  • i like the yamaha dgx 630 way better

  • girls

  • 1:14 that I liked.. :)

There's a many question belove. XP-80 was the top synth on that gatecory. XP-50 was same synth but smaller and weaker keys.

In 1998 it cost in Finland about 1200 today euros. I still have of ;)

There's a 4 place of memory card bottom of the synth. I have one Techo and Dance card which was taken off the after sales cause pricacy problems.

    8:57 Jarre............

    Great stuff!

  • so... these sounds are the basic sounds on this keyboard?

  • yes

  • really beautiful. how much did it cost?

  • this keyboard has about 4 banks, each bank with 128 sounds ( patch ), morever, there' are still sliding controllers to modify the sound, and an amazing sequencer.

  • muy bien..

  • Comment removed

  • it sounds ok, if you compare it to some soft synths, like vanguard, or analog factory, its not as good, but totally useable.

It's way to big imo, I would rather get an xp 30 which sounds bettr, and in a smaller package.

  • Those were the dayzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • It would help if i could see both hands playing

  • What is the best Keyboard for today?

  • yeah you could pay about $1500 more and get a much newer model.

  • what sound bank are you going through right now?

  • Very nice demo of the XP-80. You clearly have a broad knowledge of music. Love the glorious organ finale! I have an XP-60 myself, which I bought new over 10 years ago. It is still my primary workstation. If someone offered me a brand new Fantom workstation in exchange for my XP-60, I would say "Thanks, but no, thanks."

  • I also love my XP80 but have to sell it. Can anyone suggest a selling price?

  • I've seen it going for $425 to $450

  • what about xp60

  • Oh wait, I was actually referring to the XP60. The XP80 must go for a lot more money.

  • My best keyboard....

  • hy.You want send me some sound for roland xp 80? pls. I need some piano tones PLS. my mess id is "vassyhd" Thanks

  • A true class A musical instrument. You make a rare presentation: demonstrating the timbres, not playing futile pieces in a single sound.

The XP-80 have sonic jewels, like that in 5:20 - Flying Waltz.

  • what is the guitar at 5:40 sorry not 1:40?

  • what is the guitar at 1:40?

  • Man, this synth is really powerfull machine! I'm going to buy Roland JV-2080, which has simillar sounds like your beast here! Nice presentation!

  • Hi there, I wanna know if you can tell me something about roland hp 1800e, I wanna buy one and I would really apriciate your opinion, THANKS!

  • Hi there...I also have XP80..Brilliant keyboard. What is patch number starting from 1.12 and have you altered it...I love the Jarre phased strings sounds.Keep up the good work !!!

  • new order plays xp 80

this only thing says that it's one of the best synths ever

  • The XP80 is definitely my work-horse (expanded with the orchestral boards) :D ! Such joy and simple to use,yet powerful and lush sounds in it ! Never get rid of it (only expanded with Techno,60/70s keys & Vintage boards ;) ) !

  • roland Xp-80 is a GREAT keyb.. maybe with expansions (Orchestral, Orchestral 2).. it's 12 year old and is still a great synth.

i consider the "Loud SynLead" patch the best (with solo on, portamento on, a little phaser effect..)

  • ahahaha LOL loud synlead is my favourite too, I play a lot of song with that patch!!

  • Nice demo. Thank you. Levels are alittle high though. Distorted a couple of times. I had two XP80's in the past and I think I might get another one. I miss it!

  • What a great synth this is! And and an awesome presentation too. Keep it coming!

  • Amazing sounds, thanks a lot for your demo my friend !! :D
