@JDrymon88 Little River, close to the Pond Creek Bottoms area, Im trying to hit some other areas there to, just finding the time to do it all,,,whew! lol
In the 1980's the state of Arkansas thought alligators were extinct in the state and had 2 gamewardens go to Lake Charles Louisiana to capture gators for restocking Arkansas. The gamewardens were ERNIE and Tim. Tim went on to become a USFWS Special agent, a good guy, unlike most of them. Both are now retired. So those might be some offspring? The big ones might be the origional stock?
I've seen gators 15-17 foot in Central Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas N of Houston near Midway, TX. But the biggest ever was near 23 foot, unbelievable, surely nobody will ever believe me. I was with 1 friend, the gator looked unreal on a sandbar in the Pascagoula River. Looked like a crocodile on a discovery chnl video, the kind that eats zebra in Africa. Unreal huge. I told a guy in Louisiana and he brought out a casting of a 20+ gator footprint. Crop duster pilots would see it.
@SIMPLYTEETS Yes sir, 17 is big. I think since their numbers were down so low until the 1980's I think nobody ever publicized how big they get. With the right amount of food early in their growth years there is no reason they cannot get 20 feet like other large crocodilians. I'm sure they get 20 foot in some places. Maybe not Florida where everybody thinks alligators live but in some deep woods swamps they get huge. In the years to come we will here of more.
You are braver than me my friend. I grew up in the LA swamps and played chicken with some 12 footers as a kid. No thank you!! There are some 16 -20 footers there too! Thank you for doing this and letting us chickens watch! Khat
I have a video of one in Arkansas, he is a monster, I would say at least 14-15 foot, near texarkana

12 feet is the largest you've seen? You probably have never seen an adult male gator, I would assume.
