I took the farm on the right (melee attack with grenadiers) and hold the building. When the prussians came I sent ~5 companies of infantry (Old Guard, Young Guard) and perhaps 1-2 cavalry to confront them. They were annihilated.
After that I took those troops and flanked the Brits on the right and did a simultaneous feint attack with 2 infantry on the left farm to bind their forces
I played on highest difficulty and and it was pretty easy because Old Guard and Young Guard are just insane.
you play Good but you need to have faster command speed,i mean you need to speed up your hands man so that you can reform your men quickly on your extreme right.
what difficulty are you on? I heavily attacked wellingtons left flank then turned his entire line. I barely had any men left when the prussians came but I was able to route them as well. I thought about circling all the way around to the right like you did but I was afraid the prussians would attack my disorganized army during the movement
@LiverpoolTuber well, considering he won more battles than Alexander the great, Frederick the Great, And Peter the Great... combined, without ever being titled "the Great"... i'd say he was a freakin genius
@GenericAsianBoyLTD I'm not saying he wasn't a genius and battle number isn't particulary important, it's decicive battles that win wars and that's why I think people like Lord Nelson are one of the greats, all great military men, don't think we could single one out :P
@LiverpoolTuber i was just responding to your question. and my opinion is: if you are possessing enough tactical brilliance that your strategies are still used 200 years later, that's what makes you a great commander
I kept the prussians under arty fire as i split the British down the middle, I then branched out from there and made the rest of the british flee, I took heavy losses, but I refocused all my forces and charged the prussians, and and sent my cavalry around there backs. and thats how I won...
From wat I saw in wiki on napoleons plan on waterloo, he divided each of the prussian and british forces. I saw the map, and thought what if he stormed the prussians first, then went around the other army and encircled their army with a pincer formation, I think that would work
Went for left flank (bombed the building) and right flank(captured the building) almost simoultaneously, focusing more on the left flank, which caved in quite easily. While fighting britts i also dealt with the prussians - 3 infantry units and cuirassiers were all that it took to crush them.
Overall only the 8- and 12- pound artillery routed.
The britts like to charge at your artillery, i used that to charge their backs once they hit the artillery.I find that i only need artillery early on.
I won by moving my cannons and troops to the left firing canister shot and destorying the two units of troops and the house from there i moved my men and cannons and cavalary onto their right flank and took it from there
I stormed Papellotte first, with 2 units of Fusaliers, brought up 2 units of Grenaiers to assist in the assault to come, and then, I braced for the Prussians, I see that to win, you have to do two things... 1: Assalut from the right, they are the farthest from the foot guards, they are the least defended, and the Prussians arrive from there. 2. Defeat the Prussians BEFORE you face the British, if Napoleon had finished off the Prussians, he might, and probably would have won at Waterloo.
@Destroyer831642 Thank you for sharing how you fought the battle of waterloo. Please if anyone played Napaloean total war please share how you fought this battle.
@vycaso first I concetrate all my inf on my right. than I order an attack on pappelotte with my grenadiers. followed by my main army. I set up a line the the right of pappelotte after I took it and I attack the british infantery and cavelery their. then I set up a line facing the british flank. then just wait for the prussians to arrive and kill them with your cav and inf. they run fast and are exhausted. an easy target. the rest should be simple
It seems to be stupid but the book i've read said that if napoleon got the hugomont (the left of him and the right of wellington, he could easily crush the right flank of wellington
It seems to be stupid but the book i've read said that if napoleon had got the hugomont (the left of him and the right of wellington, he could have easily crushed the right flank of wellington
And btw, I'm trying to use 2/3 of the force to crush the prussian, hiding the rest and atk the brtish flank when they come to my right. Let's see if it can work.
@Destroyer831642 no he wouldn't, he was forced to fist battle the british,as wellington stopped his retreat form quatre-bras at wateloo, the prussians were still kilometers away when the battle started, they surprised napoleon
@vycaso I first disabled the artilery on far right and attack Papellot with 2 fussiliers and 2 divisions of grenadires and open fire with artliery on the black watch and all made in square formation and waited for prussians when they come the british will attack intercept them with 3 divisons of fusilers and young guard and the the other force contretate on prusians and with the cavalary flank gen Bucher
Napolean had a great mind of commanding armies in the battlefield like its second nature. Napolean had a gifted military mind that guided him on the battlefield. Naploean would use that gift to make France the greatest empire in Europe, crowning himself Emperor of France. Napolean's gift however great was no match against nature. Napolean's gift was useless against the cold Russian winter. Cold and hungry Napolean was forced to retreat westwards.
@V1D3OG0D If I would had fought the battle Wellington wanted me to, Wellington would have won. You can just look at Wellington's position and can tell that many French would have died on a forward advance. I decided to march my men on his far right flank, position my men across the hill and advance forward which can also make their artillery ineffective. But then I had encounter British allies on the right flank, I had to advance quickly while they were not formed in rank, encircle and destroy.
@vycaso I had to encircled the British allies on the far right flank of Wellington's position quickly while they were unorganized destroy them quickly before the Brits intervene. Wellington made a big mistake which gave me the upperhand by moving his army out of his defensive position towards my men, now wellington fights Waterloo my way. I knew victory would be in my hands.
BTW this battle is stupid because its a major struggle for power almost till the end of the battle between wellington and napoleon and then Prussia enters the battle as reinforcements with about 70% of their force as cavalry and then the brutish and Prussians go on the major offensive allowing the British to do their famous prisoner execution cannons at point blank range
that skirmish with the Prussians gave him the advantage with out dealing with them right away he most likely would of been crushed the way he was playing
I like your tactic of outflanking the British on the right i tried the same on the left flank and ended up winning as well but with a LOT of casualties. All thx to my old guard holding hougomont ;)
I don't like your way of playing. You don't use square formation, you pack your troops in small squares instead of making many long lines... try to circle your opponent and fire him from all sides... just my opinion
@vertical3life well i dont like ur way of playing square formation is gay and a calvary charge could easily breaak a long line, if u were napolean u would lose paris in a week
I love how Wellington just sits there whilst you move your entire army to his flank even though he could have surrounded your forces between him and the Prussians.
not tooo BAD but u need alot better tactics u could of taken alot less deaths if u would of actually set a boundary when the brits came instead of a all out attack
a sloppy vistory, try taking it off the easy level. and by the way, for all you armchair napoleans out there, understand this: the concepts of warfare never change, only the weaponry. only in failing to understand how that affects those principals would lead to someone like napolean losing a battle nowadays, but great commanders are great because they know the keys to victory do not change, only their application. as someone once said, "amatuers talk tactics, professionals talk logistics."
the problem with this strategy is u could be easily outmaneuvered with huge heavy cavalry coupled with some infantry on either left or right flank that flank can be easily destroyed with one gone the other would be so easy, if i were to play against u i would take u out one flank after the another...i might sound arrogant, may be its the way the AI made u play
@KrazzyKan ... If someone from the 1200's was sat down in modern warfare he would obviously not know what the fuck was going on. This isn't like the romans compared to the middle ages. You are trying to slap napoleon accross two centuries because he wouldn't understand modern warfare.
Well played! You forced the Brits to react and didn't let them lead the battle and that's the key to victory!
But why did Wellongton waited so long to move and attack you? It was obvious you were coming from the east. Your army was mostly there and he just waited till you destroyed the Prussian to strike back in a chaotic and disorganized way... He didn't even tried to support his allies or to destroy the few soldiers you let in front of him.
He didn't wanna leave his fortified hill aka awesome tactical position, the problem with that is that he changes his mind just at the time he shouldn't have. But i guess thats just due to bad AI
It's very refreshing and entertaining to see Napoleon winning Waterloo. It was most entertaining to see Napoleon and Ney charge into doomed British foot soldiers and also British cavalry breaking off attack and retreating at point blank range from French infantry.
