Martin Barre did not record the original solo on the Tull record although history wrongly credits him. Every time Barre plays Aqualung and murders the solo we hear further proof of this. The solo was recorded by an unknown studio musician who should get all the credit for one of the best solos of all time.
I realize we're all getting older, but this solo sounds sluggish and out of place in the song
