  • I strongly suggest supporting it while cooking with a pot, or especially a pan, because it is top-heavy. Three good sized rocks, or firewood logs in a "tripod" formation around the vents makes you need to reach, and avoid a dangerous parameter, where the "stack", can be accidentally bumped over.. as a precaution in my opinion. That being said, finding those materials usually isn't too difficult, and needed anyways. The KK is the Best SHTF stove I've come across! I'm getting a 2nd one as a backup

  • Thanks for showing the small version of this Kelly Kettle. Since we use it for 2 persons we go for the large version.

Good tip, do NOT forget the water cap ;-) *BOOM*

  • @mariusvanwitzenburg Well if your life got boring ... it could be the little Bang you need! HA!! Thanks for watching

  • I purchased the smallest Kelly Kettle and found it works like a charm with a Trangia alcohol stove. Why burn alcohol? Well, you might be visiting a park that doesn't allow you to burn anything but liquid fuel.

  • what a great idea! looks amazing too, thank you

  • yes it took long to get started, u cut out a bit of the video, these things are a nightmare to start, u need a trangia stove under it

  • @danwormald Actually not hard to start at all. Just a simple matter of good fire starting skills like any wood stove.

  • Great review - thanks.

  • @Festool4 Well thank you kindly!

  • Good review Gorge Rat. I'm sure the Kelly Kettle has its place... a bit on the large size considering it's only for a pint of water, but still a great bit of kit.

  • @ForViewingOnly Thank ya ... yeah it's a bit bulky but fun to use ... for sure! Actually thinking about getting a large one for use at home on the patio!

  • I want your hat!

  • Yep, I like the Trangia too, a blonde Swedish beauty ;o)

Ah, the Kelly: that's a real efficient boiler!

    Greetings, Tim

  • I am leary of ordering something that will bend or crush inside a back pack. How durable / sturdy is this ?

It looks like a great device for camping.

  • @frankgon4 Well of all the burners and kit you could carry the Kelly Kettle is about the toughest I've seen ... I think in a pack or in the outside of the pack where I carry mine ... when I take it ... I've not even dented it yet. Certainly haven't inflicted any damage that would break the inner seal. It's a sweet piece of gear. I might be buying a large one for car or family camping ... the small like I have is perfect for one ... maybe even two ... but barely.

  • @RallohE Perfect. What I needed to know. I could not tell if it was from thin sheet metal.

Sounds like a winner for my pack. I have been looking for a stove that did not use fuel. My upside down empty coffee can would get bent sometimes.

  • @frankgon4 Oh I love it ... but my go-to kit is a Stainless steel Bushbuddy which nests inside my Snow Peak 900 pot, inside my Reflex cozy ... and I carry a Trangia Alky for those days I just wanna cook breakfast from my hammock! BUT ya can't go wrong with the Kelly ... I love boiling or cooking over mine.

  • It might be heavy, but... no fuel to lug around. Depending on the length of the trip it could be lighter than a small stove with a mountain of fuel.

  • Got one for Christmas as well. I've already used it three times. My neighbors must think I'm strange cooking outside with this contraption, but it's so much fun!

    Cheers!

    James

  • Ha ... try doing it and filming ... looks like your out there talking to yourself. Gives the neighbors a whole new level of considering you strange!

  • @RallohE I think I'm going to get rid of my Med sized Kelly Kettle and get a small one, as I usually camp alone and the small one will fit in my pack better.

  • @jntroisi Never owned the medium but I really like the size of the small model. Should work nicely for you and solo camping. I've been using a Bushbuddy more and more with an alky back-up.

  • @RallohE Interesting. I was about to build one this weekend, but I have to sort out the size I want. They do look very efficient if you can build them to burn the wood gas, not just the wood.

    Cheers!

  • Another nice review there old chap!

  • I have it and love it!
