What they mean to say is that severely trained monkey is good at this shit, just like a severely trained Chinese guy is better at cup stacking than me or you.
I do not like that these chimps are in a lab,of course infront of the camera they are going to make it seem as though the chimps have what they need, but behind the scenes they are kept in cages.Even Zoo's and Sanctuarys keep them in cages when its not "visiting time/exercise time", it is so sad-they at least deserve to be on an island sanctuary, not a man-made one. I am helping out saving the chimps every way I can on the net and by phone, I live in Canada and am moving to South Africa in 2yrs
@Mammasaymammasaw thats exactly what I was thinking, I just got finished watching that movie. I adore Apes, and plan on working with them and towards saving them for the rest of my life, I cant wait til I am done my vet-tech classes so I can move to south africa. Not that you care lol, sorry, Im rambling- CEASER IS THE SWEETEST !
Not to be a buzz kill, but it'll be most unlikely that apes and man shall live in peace. How do we know if they're toying with us all? This might sound crazy, but if ape was given proper intelligence could ALL humans treat them as people as well?
They just have short term memory the students thought about it to much. But don't get me wrong chimps are very smart compared to other animals but like I said there just hiting were it light up they don't know symbols or any of that sort. But they are more athletic and agile than us but I bet one day apes will rise and I hope we can live in peace with them
@runespas They know symbols, numbers are a form of symbols-Some also know sign language, and there are some keepers that have a chart with over 500 symbols for different things like, banana, cat, kiss, etc. and she can show them the fruit/animal/gesture and they know the symbol for it..."they dont know symbols or any of that sort"....really? I agree that I hope we can live in peace together though :) They just might be a little smarter than you are giving them credit for ;)
@runespas Huh? They weren't just following lighted patterns. The numbers were hidden uniformly so the chimps (unlike their human counterparts) were able to process and immediately retrieve a very complex visual pattern, seemingly with very little effort and concentration (one was eating while performing the task). Autistic savants often excel at such tasks, as do engineers, mathematician and visual artists
Theyr not smarter retard. Thats why we built a civilization and they still live wild in tha forest. Thats why we keep them in zoo's and do expiriments like this on them. If they were smarter it would be tha other way around
@Smithitty Depends on how you define smart/intelligent. To a theoretical physicist these sorts of memory and spatial skills are indispensable. The chimps are testing with a design that's almost exactly like the Raven's Progressive Matrices, which is a human intelligence test that quantifies general intelligence/ IQ using non-verbal measures. "Intelligence" is tied to adaptability which is then tied to the environment. Alter the environment and humans can become "stupid" pretty quickly
So what? Humans will are only thrown off because they were following the numbered sequence to navigate with, not the lit regions. If they tried this on a human who never learned to count before, then that would be a different outcome.
well, humans are advanced while chimps are eating bugs off of their friends and ripping each other's throats out to assert dominance. i think it's safe to say they aren't as smart as us lol.
@footballUSAcowboys Actually, go into the average bar on a friday night and you'll see plenty of idiots ripping out each others throats to assert dominance.
@1giblesp nah man i'm underage. but i'm sure no one around here has gotten their throats ripped out recently... i'm sure the same goes for wherever you live, and most other places. (i honestly hope it's ALL other places instead of just MOST).
chimps dont have better memory... their eyes are just capable of focusing on a larger target at once. normal human eyes can only focus on a pin point item or else they wouldnt be able to see
Everyone thinks animals are way less intelligent just because they don't make tools and talk vocally like humans. Search crazy tiger attack on you tube and you will see the true intelligence of an animal, assassination.
c'mon the chimp was trained to do that... a man could learn it too, much faster i think. this kind of "scientifically" test is making me unsure of many other things
yup ... they need it to survive in the jungle where pretty much looks the same, they couldn't survive without it. .. plus memory does not have anything to do with the actual IQ.
Interesting that this video, fits with my hypothesis of human and ape mating caused Chimps. IF you look at the DNA and chromosomes side by side, it becomes one of the most obviously plausible ways for chimps to come into being. Chimps are part human is my hypothesis..
You are one pathetic person; you can't even address a simple question. I hope that when I reach my late 50s I'm not as dishonest as you. If you were even a shadow of a man you would answer my question, if you didn't operate solely on emotion then you wouldn't bring that up every other comment. The fact is that you arent a man and you dont understand science let alone evolution. Good luck to you.
According to the DNA and chromosomes of Chimps, they are descendants of ancient human mating with animals. This is clear in their respective genomes. It is the only explanation that answers all these questions of Genetics and ERV's.
You made up a law called Genetic Stability and your basis for that law is that there is no evidence of evolution which is making a positive claim based on a negative. When someone provides you with evidence that evolution is true you quote youre made up law as an argument against evolution. Don't you see this as circular logic on your part? Can I argue a law that atoms cannot fuse together based on no evidence for fusion?
Again you don't answer my question, you base the law of genetic stabilty (which you made up) on evolution not having enough evidence. This is making a positive claim based on a negative. Do you understand that you cannot do that? Just answer this simple question without going on an emotion tangent. Can I claim there is a law that prevents atoms from fusing together since there is no evidence that atoms can fuse?
Why don't answer my question, are you basing the Law of genetic stability on the fact that there is no evidence for evolution and if so isn't that basing a positive claim on a negative one. Such as making a claims atoms cannot fuse because no one has ever seen fusion take place.
Also did you orginate the "Law of Genetic Stability and if so how do you test it and fasify it?
Why are you argument so stupid? The answer is obvious.
Show me any experiment in genetics where the offspring are not created out of the traits of the parents? Show me any genetic adaptation that is not related to survival due to changes in the environment? The facts are clear, the Law of Genetic Stability is shown in all the evidence. There is no such thing as genetic drift so far that the original creature has changed into a new genus; never has happened.
So you'd like to think. In an age when social advancement depends so much upon passing series of tests accomplished largely by "test prep" programs - i.e. "Cramming", are we not in fact advancing upon a Chimpanzee skill set? As the narrator states - humans lost these skills when they gained advanced communications skills...well maybe not all of us.
Actualy chimps do communicate with each other, their "language" is just not as complex (but complex enough not to be completely deciphered by humans).
chimps communicate extensively. their vocal cords aren't as complex as ours, and for that reason their main form of communication is body language. this is true of all animals, including humans. i don't think that anyone here is trying to generalize that chimps are indeed more intelligent, simply that they ARE a complex and thinking creature that is understimated as a whole.
This research does indeed point in the direction that chimps have superior short-term memory than humans. And that is a form of intelligence much valued by humans.
That is proof right there that they are far more intelligent than us.Yall need to understand the actual definition of intelligence, intelligence is the overall power of your brain...and that doesn't just mean power as in ability to learn.Intelligence is literally a computer CPU.And there are no different types of intelligence.
Title is misleading. Humans and chimps diverged from a common ancestor several million years ago. Our environments have not been the same since then and it isn't surprising that chimps would require a near-photographic memory in order to successfully navigate trees, branches, and other obstacles. Human aptitudes evolved in a different direction (language, etc) that did not require similar aptitudes as chimps. Its not a question of intelligence, but one of adaptation and evolution.
What they mean to say is that severely trained monkey is good at this shit, just like a severely trained Chinese guy is better at cup stacking than me or you.

All of the evidence backed with DNA shows this law of genetic stability.
There is no place in the natural world where any genus has ever evolved.
There is a complete genealogy back to the parent of the species and from there it stops.
GoodScienceForYou 2 years ago
Why don't answer my question, are you basing the Law of genetic stability on the fact that there is no evidence for evolution and if so isn't that basing a positive claim on a negative one. Such as making a claims atoms cannot fuse because no one has ever seen fusion take place.
