No, they aren't the same. The PS3 version is without a doubt the worst. Next comes the Xbox version. The PC version is better because the graphics are ultimately better (as with any other PC game nowadays), and there is more realistic destruction, as displayed in this video.
They're alot different, in subtle ways. The PC version has better particle and cloth effects. If you noticed, the graphics look much better, and there is more debris. Also, the debris stays on the floor I:E - you shoot the glass out of the window, and it hits the floor, instead of disappearing, like in the console versions. Same goes for wooden debris, etc.
@ManuelMMM1 The difference is that if you shoot a wall and the debris comes from the wall it will stay on the floor. You can literally smash everything you see. On ATI cards you can not do that.

Nvidia really shot themselves in the foot when they did that. you have to buy an Nvidia GPU to even use PhysX so it was a win win for them. i guess they got gready and said, "we should only allow you to use physx if you have an nvidia as a primary." but they overlooked how extremely easy it is to mod a driver to use physx/ATI.
Nvidia =/= ATI.. They are 2 seperate companies and Nvidia is the only company thus far to really capitalize on the PhysX capabilities of their cards.. ATI has the same power an Nvidia card has.. They just haven't gotten PhysX down pat yet.
Nvidia has offered the tech to AMD in the past... for a price.
why would nvidia allow it? it would be a stupid move. however, a wise move would be to allow it until physx becomes more mainstream and then lock it down. i have no loyalties, but AMD need to get with the times.

@TR0L0L0LO Actually, Havok has the best destruction simulation between all of these and Euphoria delivers the best character animation by far. PhysX kinda sucks beside a combination of havok and euphoria(like star wars), but it works better at cloth simulation............personal opinion
With Apex set from medium to high their is a large drop in FPS, But what you get in return is a long timeout for objects or debris to fade away. A excellent test to show this in work would be Knocking down a lamp post and seeing the time difference between low med high ApexPhysx for that lamp post to disappear. These effects work with ATI or Nvidia the same.
if anyone here is curiouse about the graghics, on ps3/xbox it will be similar to red dead redemption but in a gta IV style in the 1940-50's..only reason nvidia is featured in this video is because like the guy bellow said "promotion" you dont need physcx or w/e nvidia is promoting by having mafia 2 be played on it, youl get same over better on almost any of the 5x radeon series gc's..

@playman350 If by "consoles" you mean ONLY the PS3 which has the RSX made by NVidia which is based on the GF7 architect then you are correct.. BUT I guess since you said consoles you meant to include also the XBox 360, then get your facts right before you post something so FALSE... XBox 360 uses the ATI Xenos GPU.. sorry if this sounds dumb but wat do u mean by real time physx's, is it if u move your character his coat will move naturally like in this video or will it be stuck to the character like in gta4.
If you have PhysX, the game will lag less when having intense action, and the effects will be more detailed (as you said, the coat will move naturally)
@hurkies The guy was talking about PhysX, not what platforms Mafia 2 will be on. PhysX isn't on consoles. If you knew a damn thing about PC hardware then you'll know that PhysX is a feature exclusive to Nvidia GPUs.

PhysX is in the engine on both PS3/360, but it's like Havok Physics Engine compared real PhysX on PC. This is a promotional video for both Mafia 2 & Nvidia on PC. @1:50 it even says "Mafia 2 video captured on Nvidia GPU" which is obvious it's the PC version. Gamer4Life8910 has a valid point about the X360 controller use on PC, but I dont think its the PC version since the GamerSpawn seems like a Trustworthy(does this word have any value on the NET?) PhysX in this game will be like in Metro - mainly through the CPU. PhysX via NVidia cards will be just like some small bonus. So if you have at least quad-core processor, you're ready to go ;-)
i bet there are no side missions becuase they want to move away for those " arcade conventions " and make it more realistic which is cool but i want some side stuff and random events. That is to me what makes a great free roam game like red dead redemption
I both have both a console (360) and an EXTREMELY good gaming PC with gtx 295, SLI and 8gb ram and i can say that PC gaming will NEVER die, it beats consoles in every possible way. K/B and mouse will always kick the controllers ass. Controllers got nothing except for slowliness. You want fast gameplay and quick action, PC is the way to go, especially when it comes to FPS games like MW2 and BBC2
@NightTranceDay i have a similar comp windows vista ultimate (x64), 4gb dd3 ram gtx 280, intel core i7 920 and i have an xbox 360. Computer will always win out but i suck using a keyboard and mouse, it just feels so unnatural. However there is a software program called xpadder that maps keyboard and mouse controls to a xbox 360 controller and with it using a xbox 360 controller on a comp is awesome. Just saying.
@Tachy1022 all games look better on PC. I play BF Bad Company 2 on PC with medium high settings and it looks better than on 360. If my laptop could handle high settings then it would look amazing.
Great example of how PC hardware is leading cutting edge technology while consoles may have great games, they lag behind in comparison to PC hardware.
Obviously consoles are behind in the times, they have to be affordable and pump out great gameplay as well... but when i buy a ps3 for (229 now) hell i bought a bundle that was 400+ bucks years back ... a good graphics card can cost that much +...
and all shooters are prone to hacks... which ruins the games anywayz... So unless you strictly play offline games, have a shit load a cash to spend and wana have a desktop which is highly un-portable... go for it

A self built PC with 300 - 400 dollars US, as long as you make smart decisions (a console retails for about 300 US) you can EASILY surpass the resolution (1280 x 720p for many games) up the settings (they aren't maxed out) and you can self-diagnose which can cost alot less to repair/replace. But consoles do open games to a wide variety of ppl, and i respect that.

@gogomaester It isn't on consoles, because it's exclusive feature for Nividia GPUs. 360 hardware isn't capable of PhysX.

@hurkies The guy was talking about PhysX, not what platforms Mafia 2 will be on. PhysX isn't on consoles. If you knew a damn thing about PC hardware then you'll know that PhysX is a feature exclusive to Nvidia GPUs.

@08jminke Hi I just wanted to let your dumbass know that PhysX isn't on consoles. It's exclusive to Nvidia GPUs on PC. You can also use a 360 controller on PC and the icons will change to correspond with the 360 layout. I should know, because I use a 360 controller for certain PC games.

PS3 does SUPPORT PhysX throught Software Engine Acceleration, while the PC GPUs make use of it throught Hardware Acceleration since PhysX its available from GF8 and newer and PS3 is based on GF7.. BUT that doesnt mean it doesnt support PhysX throught software.. PhysX is there on PS3 and ofcourse NOT NEARLY as good on PC, but its there.. Dumbass..

@Koniakki This video is from the developers talking about PhysX, so of course they're gonna be playing the PC version even if it means playing with a 360 controller. PhysX is in the engine on both PS3/360, but it's like Havok Physics Engine compared real PhysX on PC. This is a promotional video for both Mafia 2 & Nvidia on PC. @1:50 it even says "Mafia 2 video captured on Nvidia GPU" which is obvious it's the PC version. Was it really necessary to talk about my username? No.

Hey 08jminke. To be honest we cant be sure of that.. Gamer4Life8910 has a valid point about the X360 controller use on PC, but I dont think its the PC version since the GamerSpawn seems like a Trustworthy(does this word have any value on the NET?) Uploader, so it would have include a Info in the Description.. Like saying: "PC version using a controller?" But if you noticed at the beginning its advertises the GTX 400 and showing a Xbox 360 footage? Indeed VERY confusing video.. :)

Some Czech review on mafiagame.cz was testing Mafia 2 preview version with OLD 8600GT and on 1280X1024 they run game on 30 FPS

GTA 4 did 90% of all you said without stupid propietary physics. And the trenchcoats look like Red Faction Guerrilla's trench, only it wasn't made with propietary physics, and it had 4X the destruction that Mafia 2 will have

And its not about they cant do it with software, its about saving the GPU being loaded with that process and give it to a totally independent other hardware. That's to copy up with the stunning graphics Mafia 2 and the all the new games for that matter, like Ghost recon Future Soldier.

@therealcheeriokilla Your either slow in the head or just acting stupid. First of, what part of the simple clear english "More realistic and dynamic" you don't understand? Realistic means it looks more real? okay? phew that was hard, dynamic means the motion is smoother ... happy with that? phew again. GTA4 - software coded PhysX means GPU have to process that, Mafia 2 - PhysX card, hardware coded PhysX, means GPU doesn't have to process that, meaning less GPU load. Simple enough for you now?

I don't see how it looks more dynamic or realistic than Red Faction Guerrilla's physics since they had to build the buildings 3d models using materials, their thickness, resistance, the amount of pressure they con take. "The motion is smoother" are you trying to tell me that Havok's physics aren't as smooth as PhysX? you haven't done your research fanboy.

The dev chose it over Havok simply because nvidia paid them tons of cash and sent engineers to 2k czech to help code the damn thing... And just in case I have both nvidia and ATi top of the line cards, I just don't like these kind of practices in any business, it's cheap

PhysX in this game will be like in Metro - mainly through the CPU. PhysX via NVidia cards will be just like some small bonus. So if you have at least quad-core processor, you're ready to go ;-)

I both have both a console (360) and an EXTREMELY good gaming PC with gtx 295, SLI and 8gb ram and i can say that PC gaming will NEVER die, it beats consoles in every possible way. K/B and mouse will always kick the controllers ass. Controllers got nothing except for slowliness. You want fast gameplay and quick action, PC is the way to go, especially when it comes to FPS games like MW2 and BBC2

@NightTranceDay i have a similar comp windows vista ultimate (x64), 4gb dd3 ram gtx 280, intel core i7 920 and i have an xbox 360. Computer will always win out but i suck using a keyboard and mouse, it just feels so unnatural. However there is a software program called xpadder that maps keyboard and mouse controls to a xbox 360 controller and with it using a xbox 360 controller on a comp is awesome. Just saying.

Obviously consoles are behind in the times, they have to be affordable and pump out great gameplay as well... but when i buy a ps3 for (229 now) hell i bought a bundle that was 400+ bucks years back ... a good graphics card can cost that much +...
and all shooters are prone to hacks... which ruins the games anywayz... So unless you strictly play offline games, have a shit load a cash to spend and wana have a desktop which is highly un-portable... go for it

@mikachuuu lol. Yeah, they are out of date, as many people DO NOT realize. You might be one to be smart enough to realize it. A self built PC with 300 - 400 dollars US, as long as you make smart decisions (a console retails for about 300 US) you can EASILY surpass the resolution (1280 x 720p for many games) up the settings (they aren't maxed out) and you can self-diagnose which can cost alot less to repair/replace. But consoles do open games to a wide variety of ppl, and i respect that.

@mikachuuu oh oops i forgot about the pc gaming thing you said, PC gaming actually rose in sales about 30% last year. PC gaming isnt dead. No, there isnt just one or 2 PC enthusiast out there, there are many many many people who buy hardware, and use that hardware not only to game, but to use as media centers, Folding@Home (which helps out medical science and so on and so forth)Just to help showcase part of 30%, more Bad Company 2 PC were sold than 2 consoles combined (likely veterans from bf2).
