There was speculation that Dave Grohl wrote My Hero (the song) to be about Kurt Cobain but this rumor was proved to be false. Maybe the creator of this tribute mistakenly believed the rumor to be true, and put the song, so in this case, it is a relevant use of other music not done by Kurt Cobain. But yes, I also hate it when people make tributes with music that makes no sense.
