Kudos to the ambulance driver for turning off his siren when stopped at the rr crossing so that drivers could hear the train horn. My EMS brother tells me they're trained to do that.
Why was he going so slow in the first place cause if he was at full rated track speed it wouldnt have mattered whether he applied emergency or not. He simply could not have seen the ambulance in time to come from track speed to full stop unless he was going less than 15-25mph.
At the time of this video there was a 10 mph speed restriction for the curv. This train was all empty. This camera angle is misleading because the train crew can see this crossing a good 1500 feet away so when the ambulance pulled up and stop the crew seen it that second.
Thats amazing!!!! Bloody good train drivers indeed, but how did they know that the ambulance was in an emergency? I bet the Ambulance drivers felt special !
That was pretty cool for the engineer to do that. It could have made a difference for someone.

That was nice of the enginer

The train was stopping anyway.
Otherwise, after the ambulance passed, why did the train not immediately proceed? Recharge brake system? The train continued 4 minutes later.
The fat guy should have gone to the crossing to wave vehicles through.
Single track?
Nice catch!
Would also like to have seen the next crossing. Always video trains crossing in case some idiot gets hit.

You know that train had the right away to come though. That ambulance could've wait for that train to pass by.

And don't forget the idiots in the other cars going around the down barriers?
But that 5-10 minutes is the different between someone life being saved or not being saved.
