How to Install a Map in Garry's Mod 10 [HD]

Well, the problem is that I'm having trouble extracting the map rp_skyhigh because there's some folders that show maps and materials, i know how to extract the bsp files, but I don't know where i need to extract other things for the map, too.

@godofdead2 yes you do because garrys mod is a mod for hl2 so it needs to be installed

@Hamodey1 Go through this directory: My Computer / *hard drive* / Program Files / Steam / Steamapps / *your user-name* / Garrysmod / garrysmod / Addons; this directory should lead you straight into the addons folder where you can distribute SWEPs, Models, Entities, NPCs, and many other things that are not maps, new skins, or Backgrounds. @AndyMay96 That's pretty easy too; The New Explosion effect only effects Rockets and the SWEPs that use RPG ammo... Go to: My Computer / *hard drive* / Program Files / Steam / Steamapps / *your user-name* / Garrysmod / garrysmod \  And then just place the "Materials" folder into that file and click "Yes to all" when it asks you if you want to replace it. It will take all of the materials you have and put it into that file. And booyaa, you've got an awesome explosion effect.

@23xboxlive You will need the Steam version (the legal, paid version) for everything to go smoothly. Steam releases updates and patches regularly, which fixes (or in certain cases, breaks) Garry's Mod. Overall, it's handled better the legal way.

rp_evocity_v2d , it will go to the other folder,,,

But if u download a map with name 'gm' Example:

gm_construct_2010 It will go to the garrys mod folder ..

'cs' ex: cs_office = Counter Strike folder, and so on...

@drage95 you probably don't have the proper games to be able to play it. Sometimes you need CS:S or DoD or sometimes even HL2 Games. Getting these will not only give you another cool game, but they will be added to Garry's Mod.

yes, just exract the files anywhere, then move the BSP file (the map). usually you move it to C:ProgramFiles/steam/steamapps­/user/garrysmod/garrysmod
