America and Britain also provided massive material aid to the Soviet Union without which it likely would not have survived....in addition to knocking out Fascist Italy. firstly, I completely disagree that most do not recognize that the Soviet Union bore the brunt of the war against Hitler's ground forces. I think America enter only world war 2 when it was attack by Japan, the country which swore alligiance with Germany. America, first, came to the Pacific to aid its allies there like the Philippines and it was a tough batte in South East Asia so the war materials were poured here to fight the Empire Japan. The german airforce and navy was destroyed by the RAF and the other free navys/forces of the occupied countries. Western european soldiers defeated the german army in africa and italy. Most of the heavy fighting was done before US made a big contribution in france. By the time the US sent men for attack most of the fighting was over.
