I had a yz 490 out of the crate that smoked my buddies tt 500 that was bored and stroked to a 750.POWROLL and all goodies.Three quarters throttle, easy. It also smoked most 750 street bikes in a drag race.
This is a great classic video! That TT600 had one great rider on it, he was right on the IT490's ass the whole time! When the IT490 first came out, it pummeled the other bikes in it's class but now I'm seeing this TT600 sure giving it a run for it's money!
I think the red and white TTs came in around 85-86. I had an IT200 and my buddy had a TT225 and I would kick his ass constantly. It was great cause he was such a loud mouth! Long live the ITs! I have a restored 81 white IT175 just like the one I had when I was a teenager!
I have a TT600 and it is one VERY powerful machine. However, I've always wanted to try out an IT500 since a bike that size in a 2 stroke just sounds SICK!
Any idea why the version with sound is no longer available ? I have tried contacting the guy who posted it a few times but he never replies. ( Want to buy a copy !! )
holy cow ,thats a great vid there ! i had a it490 and now got a wr500 which was bored out to 530 ..dont see many of these bikes at all now . my model is one of 1500 made .
I Have Found The Old Vhs Tape ....( Must Around 1984 (tt600 Has A Red Seat )And Have Been Trying Up Load The Version With Sound....And It DOES SOUND BETTER !!!
(but Can't Get It To up Load Uploader Keeps Crashing ..A Real Pain
This such a great video. 20 years ago I would have been wanting the TT600 to get in front, these days I am turning back to my 2 stroke roots ! The IT's were such good bikes in their time. Come on, post the original cut with the sound please !
I would of expected the IT to do better its lighter and 2stroke right, still the guy on the TT did really well to stay with the other bike,I had a TTR600 belgarda kick start only a pain if I stalled off road, loved that bike I was gonna convert it to an SM but moved abroad oh well.
I loved when my dad could get his old 490 started, it was so fun to ride except it had crappy tires and weak suspension) his didnt have a headlight or anythin, i guess it had yz parts on it?
omg thats an amazing amount of power you can see the guy just hanging on lol thanks for posting the vid it really made me see how fast old bikes can be
I owned an '83 with a ported engine, pipe and extra fins welded on! (for better cooling) What a fun bike that was. It was tuned to compete with CR500's and it did. I ran 16/42 gearing most of the time and had a tag on it. Thank you for posting this video! It brought back many good memories. While today's bikes are better, the old IT had some really good points.
You could see that the two stroke was pulling just a little harder out of the hole, I have a YZ 490 and it hooks up the same way, in the long straightaway the IT stayed ahead by the same increment he gained in first gear, a classic example of two stroke versus four stroke, you'll find the same result against the new Fourstrokes as well, Big bore two strokes are awesome !

yeh,, they got some go. But they were just so horrible to handle! top heavy, loose tail... great in the open, too much of a rhino on the track.

The two guys riding the bikes need some credit here. They were obviously good riders in their time. Both bikes DEMAND respect !!! Dave R
