Hi there! I've got a case fan with a four-pin connector. Could you tell me is it possible to connect the four-pin connector directly to the motherboard? If it is possible, I need to know where on the motherboard is the four-pin plug.
@BlueB0j No such thing as a stupid question. To unplug the 3pin connection simply pull up, just make sure you're not pulling by the wires, grab the actual connector and pull up.
Thanks for the video mate. After looking at five other videos, I finally found your one which gave me the basic, direct instructions that I was after.
I know I can use a regular 3 pin case fan with a 4 pin PWM header on the motherboard (on a heatsink). Now, can I use a PWM fan (4 pin), made for heatsinks and cpu coolers (I suppose), as a regular case fan and plug it into the 3 pin mobo plug? Or can I use a fan controller that only has the said 3 pin plugs for fans to control that 4-pin PWM fan?
im confuse, the 120mm fan thats already installed in my pc has a small black and small red wire coming from it and its connected to a molex which already has the red, two black and yellow wires, so theres 6 wires in the same connector?
@aabed31 You'll have to forgive me I'm not sure what you mean by "sqruse", did I mention this in the video if so can you tell me at what time you see it and then I can tell you the name and where to get them.
i have coolermaster haf 932, and i wanna put 4 120mm fans in the side, can i connect the 4 fans and just plug it in one motherboard fan socket? please help!
I'm not aware of any method of having multiple fans running off of one connection. If you don't have enough fan connections as the video indicated use a fan to molex connector to connect it to one of the available molex connectors.
Great guide.Fast and simply. Most people add those unnecessarily long videos showing how they screw the fan to the case and stuff, which obviously aren't needed
How do I know if I have my case fan the right way in the case? I placed it with the manufacturer's sticker facing outside of the case so it can be seen from the back, is this right?
Good question and something I should of covered in the video. You can identify which way the air blows usually by looking for small arrows on the actual fan. Do a search for "CH001151" on computerhope to see a picture example and additional information.

@STF043 I'm sure any ordinary person above the age of six would simple:
(let put this in baby steps for you so you can understand moron)
Step 1: Get a ruler
Step 2: Look at 120mm
I'm sure you don't have to be a geek to do that.
Your right, what is wrong with idiots such as you today? You don't have the brain to get a ruler?
Anyways, how the hell is some-one meant to answer 'wat size is that 120mm'
120mm IS 120mm you complete dumb-ass.
I hope those steps weren't too hard for you.

The fan actually uses 2 of the 4 molex pins.
The fan connection on the motherboard allows the motherboard to gain rpm information and stuff like that ;-)
martijnyt 2 years ago
aw ok lol :)), so if i were to install a new fan i would just pull them two wires out and somehow stick the other two in?
hawwit 2 years ago
No, the fan uses only the 12volts or the 5volts of the molex adapter (the molex outputs one 5v and one 12v rail)
The three-pole plug you connect to the motherboard has one extra wire for fan information like rpm's ;-)

lol, i just leave my case side open :) much easier
lolatmyage 2 years ago
@lolatmyage
lol same, but i put a fan mounted on the side panel leaving it at a angle so cold air is blown in whilst the hot air can come out
