  • IS it top heavy?

  • @BIGHEADODY not really, i can pick it up. could be lighter i guess but wouldnt get great traction then.

  • just a matter of advice always carry a spare belt !!!

  • Nice

  • so dose it fly?

or is it a time machine?

  • so let me get this straight. you tore apart a perfectly good 4 wheeler to make a home made dune buggy that looks like something off of madmax. why?

  • Nice job on the Odyssey.

  • @1aauto Thanks!!

  • So a grand? Where do you live?

  • @eyeoftiger101 Laramie, Wyoming

  • super super super thanks for share

  • Your dune buggy will drive much better if you widen the frame about 2 feet and put wider tires on the back.

  • how much

  • top speed? check out my snowmobile gokart project

  • Looks like something from Mad Max.

I'm building my Oddy with a 440, out of a plane, and I'm wondering just how much you reckon you have into your build.

  • @cmaxO123 not real sure. most of it i had already and just peiced together...maybe from start to finish a grand...

  • Please don't let any kids ride in this death trap. Center of mass is a little high backyard engineer.

  • Just traded my ody with KEC-440 John Deere snowmobile engine just traded it yesterday for a dune buggy with no engine I have a Porsche 911 engine she is already bolted on just getting the wiring nice and pretty and have a few brake issues

  • well it would be day before yesterday My nights and days are mixed up at the moment

  • How are you going to jump this?

  • @ 2:47 is that a donkey you just passed?

  • @chainlinkdreams Yup!...thats our jackass!

  • I think your odyssey is real cool, me and my buddy are building some too, i like the flat track street type and he likes the monster ody look, electric start is real nice, once you put that much work into it, you never want to sell it,no biggie, i got 4 of them!

  • looks a little top heavy is it?

  • @MRXXL100 meh..its but not to bad..kinda like an old muscle car. not great around corners but fast in a strait line.

  • @tbr77 THANKYOU!! someone who understands the build

  • Dude, your snorkel is pointless. Water can pass through an air filter, so if you are gonna put a snorkel on you have to have it sealed and have the air filter right at the end, unless you have a self contained unit, which you don't. Good try, but not worth $1500...

  • @doomsd46 Dude, I know what a snorkel is, Its not suppose to be one, It helps pull air into the intake from the side, I know it works cause i can hear it suckin when im sitting next to it and once a month i clean a bunch of bugs and crap out of it where it connects to the filter

  • I did it!! I put a skidoo rotax 500 motor on a Baja Dune 150 frame.. and it is crazy fast!! but not so much off the gun... What is the gear ratio in your reduction box?? right now I'm running 4.7 to 1 (with a chain).. which is closer to what they run in the formula 500 track races.(with my same engine) but I really want it to be more set for acceleration... so, if you could please help, . Whats the tooth count on your gears?? any help would be awesome. that way i'm not guessing. thanks.

  • it looks like something from ghoastbusters

  • madmax much?

  • whats the size of the clutch? and the thing on the axle that the belt goes around

  • where is it located

  • @jcharlet1 Laramie WY..

  • how much

  • @jcharlet1 ...1500$

  • esta bien.. pero el filtro para aile no entiendo..

  • @shimono1000 Sólo pensé que parecía fresco y ayuda a extraer el aire pulg .. i puede notar el aumento de la potencia

  • totally kick ass!!!..

I'm putting a rotax 494 from a ski doo summit... on a 2 seater.. baja 150 frame.. (china junk).. .. but its wider so it should still be pretty safe.... love your performance.. I hope mine turns out that good.

  • @calholli Thanks man..sounds like you'll have an awesome set up too!!! yours will fly!! good luck with it!

  • must be from the midwest

  • Damn, you should widen the axles a bit. The cart looks mighty easy to flip.

  • they all scream its a two stroke i have one i just got to rebuild and it only has a 250 bombardier and it screams

  • Man that aircraft engine makes it scream!

  • I just use a lawn tractor battery wich is 12V so i wire a ground wire them like on a car or truck. If you have a 12V battery. you can follow the diagram you lights come with and it should work. For anymore questions, just let me know.

  • how do you recharge it> does the buggy as a alternator? or some kind of generator( sorry my bad english)

  • Thats the issue. it was suppose to charge but for some reason it doesnt so i charge it and it will last a while then ill have to recharge it. i need to get the engine so it will charge it on the go.

  • dude u definitely didnt build that thing for looks.

  • yeah. but it goes alot faster then I ever imagined when I dropped the motor in. lol

  • or you could buy a cheap solar battery charger and fasten it to the roof.

  • I acually mounted one to the dash and wired it to the battery. it sorta worked but doesn't seem to keep it charged.

  • where you are saling this buggy

  • Laramie Wyoming

  • thats a good deal! cool buggy

  • i think if you put any more weight up high it would fall over on its own and way to many add ons like hose clamped parts but seems pretty quick

  • dude if you fliped it you would demolish that thing.

  • looks like the odyssey on the projects page at motor psycho sport

  • sorry to say this but i dont like how it looks!! too bulky and looks like it is overweight... i love rotax engine by the way... the price is high...

  • i have to agree they are uglie but they were build tough, and with all the weright and power he has in the rear i bet that thing will stand up on 2 wheels

  • @wowshark - True, any Odyssey isn't worth more then $1000. They are a pain in the ass to get running if they die, they guzzle gas and they are tipsy even with the original engine mounted low, this thing looks like it would roll pretty easy.

  • you can probibly hydroplane that shit o my god i just got mine it is a 2008 red odyssey and i got a 450 rapter engine in it and it hauls ass but i bet urs is faster

  • Really? They quit making them in the 80s

  • the only 08 odyssey is the piece of shit van

  • nice work man!

  • 1500??

  • 2100??

  • I like fabricating too. Mine isn't as fancy and I can't get quite the power from the engine as I did when it was running in a sled. Feel free to check out my latest vid.

  • i used a snowmobile belt that barely fit in the clutch. the clutch is the orignal from the odyssey i didnt have the ability or money to change the drivetrain so i ran the new engine to the old clutch. it works well just getting them lined up is tricky.

  • All that being said, My current project is a fully rebuilt 79 that I cut the rear end off, and fabricated an entire new cage and rear end myself and put in a Kawasaki 440 F/C. Got the motor between the frame rail and the only thing i have above that is a spun gas tank on the main hoop.

  • Hey, I can respect the work put into this. having done similar to 3 odysseys, I know it isnt easy.... however, with all due respect, why in the hell did you make it so top heavy? I would not buy this for that reason alone. That being said, i wouldnt have the gauges either... you would never use them... get the gas tank lower and nix the clamp/bolt on shit and you have a decent ride...

  • well do you have any ideas where else to put it without rigging a fuel pump? im all ears

  • Well I was against the fuel pump idea initially but i gained a solid 10-15% mire power with a pump and under hard cornering or steep angles there is no bogging. That being said you have to make sure your floats are in good shape. Consistancy is primarily what you gain. I have my tank above the engine (spun tank) and dont need one but I was surprised at the increase. But everything else is down low.

  • sweeeett as hell mann

  • lol looks like a back to the future dune buggy... lol its really fuckin ugly!!!

  • U have modified it a trad bit.

  • how much

  • 2500 dollars

  • where do you live. i want to know how far i will have to go to buy it if i want it

  • Laramie WY

  • how much do you want for it if you work with me i will buy it i really want it

  • im asking 3000 OBO

  • nope but if not good for turning corners fast. i have come close but havent rolled it. its alot like a muscle car. fast in a strait line but not so much in the corners

  • And I hope youre running a filter off your snorkel...

  • Yeah. it connects to the filter before the carb as you can see in the video

  • Okay, Ive seen people do it like you have it, but the top of the filter is not filtered. Anyways, how does it run with the Ram Air system, wouldnt it be better if you sealed the filter in a box with the snorkel so you wouldnt lose pressure and wouldnt have water and crap flying off the wheels onto it?

  • yeah the top of the filter is filtered. it was the same mesh as the rest of the filter.

  • Oh, well good job on the swap.

    Good luck on the sale

  • You really need to reloated the gas tank

  • Relocate*

  • what was the part number of the belt you used?

  • i dont remember sense its been a while and im not at home to look so i cant tell ya.

  • yep still for sale. its in Laramie Wy. i have it at 3000 OBO

  • holy crap someone got zip ties for christmas lol

  • ya really.ehh?

  • holy shit...doesnt even look like an odyssey any more

  • kinda ugly but im sure it flys

  • only single speed?

  • If you look closely you will see it has a CVT style belt drive meaning it has all most infinite speeds!

  • mozzy72, if you dont have anything nice to say, then dont sat anything at all. you fucking douche bag.

  • screaming for vengeance

  • yea thats what i'm really thinking of doing because the turning sucks with it longer and we have already melted 4 coats with the exhaust.

  • i pretty much did the same thing but mine has a smaller roll cage and an air cooled 500cc rotax engine from a 1981 ski-doo but i'm just wondering if you had to extend your frame because i did so the exhaust would fit on.

  • No, i didnt have to extend the frame, all i did was mount the seat a little further forward so you lose leg room, but i also cut and rewelded the exhaust so it made a sharper more L coming out of the engine, and just to be sure, i mounted a heat sheild between the pipe and seat.

  • i was just about to agree with nuts2chinguard when i saw the engine and i said nvm

  • nice, but needs a wider wheel base youll roll

  • Haha Sounds like my jetski! Looks a little different....

  • dont tip or flip it lol

  • i no u put alot of work into that but it looks gay

  • wheredid you get all this stff? How did you do this? Thanks

  • most of it we had laying around, so i put it all together in one package...the key is to mount the engine close enough to the secoundary clutch to be sure you can fit a real drive belt thats the right width, the width of belt will make or break the speed, this one can out accelerate my friends pontiac grand prix GTP with upgrades, to 40.

  • What is the top speed can yo do in that straightaway? I think 44 we saw but it must have more

  • Its done 50 but thats all it has, with the two clutches it doesnt have much of a top end but doesnt waist time getting there. I need to get a two speed system for it.

  • wow, that thing looks like a military utv! you did a great job!!

  • i think its about a 1 or 1 1/2 inch it might even be the stock belt but i havent ran it in a while havent had much time in the summer now that the winter is coming i will have more time to mess with i will upload a video and let you know

  • is that just one wheel drive in the back? me and a friend of mine are trying to build a dune buggy and want to no if that works good

  • nope..its a solid axle from the gear box. When i get on it on gravel or sand, both tires through rooster tails

  • did you have to change anything with the axle for the secondary clutch to work or did it go right on there

  • if i were u id put rear suspention on. that things sick but i wouldnt want to roll it and ruin the beast!!! lol

  • thats awesome its funny i actually made a mount for my gps to go in i havent used it yet but thats how i was going to do it. Its a a sick buggy and you seem like you know what your doing once i make more progress on mine ill post more vids

  • Yeah the GPS is such a simple way to get an accurate speed reading... u should take a video of yours accelerating to compare to mine...how wides the belt your using?
