  • superquality sound , diggin!

  • You can play very good guitar! :-)

  • I am thinking of buying this amp, to run through a single Vintage 30, do you reckon that would be loud enough for small gigs? I'm not interested in clean sounds.

  • @MidnightRaid777 Its loud enough.

  • I have a friend who replaced the stock preamp tubes in this head with JJ ECC803S in V1 and regular JJ 12ax7's in V2 and V3 and swapped out the EL84's for 7189's (a hifi tube that works as a drop in replacement for EL84's) and he can actually play really heavy high-gain stuff on it and get sounds you'd expect from a high-gain metal amp with KT88's. It's extremely tight and crystal clear and sounds killer for hardcore/punk/metal tones at very low and high volumes.

  • what other amps are thoose underneath the jet city???

  • Nice Demo! Thank you for playing some clean tones. It all sounds great but I appreciate being able to hear the amp clean.

  • I guess You like Thin Lizzy a lot...

    Nice tones!

  • Seriously the clean channel tones sold me on this amp, anything can distort but clean tubes with a little warmth, that is tone.

  • I'm loads of fun with the 100 watt head version of this amp, just loaded it up with KT88s, and it sounds sweet. I got a good vid of the tone, check it out .

  • Great demo. Thanks for posting it with the settings. Just bought one of these baby's myself a month ago. Hope to record something with it and post soon on my channel. Keep rocking man! Your vids are very helpful.

  • Thin Lizzy fan I see :)

Great vid thanks. Can't wait to get mine in the mail!

  • nice video, showing us the amp and its sounds :) I can't stand the ones where some guy will stick to the heavy sounds and just do a 5 minute solo :)

  • How come this hav more gain than my amp?I have a guitar with really high ouput but the amp that I have doesn't doesn't sounds like this, like it has less gain.

  • nice demo! and... great choice of song, thin lizzy jailbreak!

  • hey, i just got the jca20h and jca12s cabinet. it sounds sort of muted and a bit muddy. how does yours sound so clear? do you think it's the cabinet?

  • @JTsoBEASTLY would that be loud enough to gig with or play over a drummer?

  • Can I use any kind of cabs through this?

  • prob my fav demo of all time, just because of the Thin Lizzy licks! *SINGS COWBOY SONG*

  • Thin LIzzy suckas!

  • wow you make this thing sound amazing, dude.

  • Thanks ! Really good demo . I'm still not sure if it's low enough volume for an apartment . What's your opinion ? Thxs again , Jerry AKA HUTCHfromBA .

  • I love and want Great tube tones but I have a real problem . I live in a attached house with many close neighbors . I desire a tube amp with good tone when it's played at very low volumes . Money is less of an issue . Any sugestions other than moving ? Thxs , Jerry .

  • Very cool demo. I have been thinking about one of these heads but I've never played one. I do have an Egnater Tweaker and I love it. Was contemplating one of these as well.. Can the Jet City produce a smoother distortion?? It sounds pretty raspy which is cool, but not quite my cup of tea. I'm guessing some of that has to do with the V30's maybe though. I use celestion G12 65's. Thanks, -S.

  • @helrazr84 Once you get the master volume up past 6 or so, the distortion is a ton smoother. If you're playing at band volume, the distorted sound is wonderful, but cleans are almost unattainable.

  • @KillerOtter918 I have an Egnater Tweaker head and its great at about half volume, much past that and it's fizzy and not good to my ears. I'll have to try one of these and maybe pair the two for the ultimate in world domination. -S.

  • @helrazr84 Yeah, just my idea. I will buy both. The tweaker is so much fun and awesome tone for both home and studio use. This thing is brutal if one push it.

  • Does the Jet City amp get loud enough to play a show??

  • how many channels are there on this amp ?

Great demo by the way :-)

  • Hi, this is fantastic and the sound I am looking for. Please can u tell me where/how I can buy this amp head - please. Many thanks.

  • Awesome! I want one LOL

  • THIN LIZZY! lol does this amp work well with pedals? Specifically Boss DS-1 distortion?

  • A couple of Thin Lizzy jams always makes a demo better.

  • Comment removed

  • Appreciate that the demo is on the Jet City Amp however, I'm more interested in the Edwards JS as I'm thinking of buying one. A few questions dude:

    1. Do you still have it?

    2. Is the craftsmanship of good quality?

    3. Can you get low action?

    4. Is the neck similar to a Gibson LP 60's or thicker?

    5. Finally (few...lol!) is it a lacquer/varnish finish or is the top nitro? (as I've been reading lately)

Sorry for so many however, really keen on them...thanks...:-)

  • Could you plug this into an 8 ohm 4x12 cab?

  • @flyhi94 Yep, apparently you can!

  • man you have some really nice gear and great clean chops. Did you get this as a beater amp? That's what i was thinking about doing. I have a couple 5150's,XXX and a Mesa Rect-0-verb. Man that's a sexy Les Paul and i'm not even a Les Paul fan. Your action looks about the same as mine though. I use Jackson Soloists and SG's primarily at the moment anyway. I had an LP standard that just SUCKED. I set it up and it still blew...chambered and sloppily slapped together...

  • Man I love this video! Seems like you've had this amp for a while now, any complaints?? I'm between this and the Marshall Class 5. Awesome playing too btw.

  • Great demo. I love the sound of these amps. The only reason I've hesitated on buying one is the lack of an effects loop. Of course a loop on a lower wattage amp is hard to come by. This amp destroys the Marshall haze (IMO).

  • Nice guitar - I've been dying to get an Edwards LP.

  • Hello! What do you think about the tunbes in this amp? sounds awesome:) Love your playing btw..

  • Great review - thank. Am going to get one this week!

  • great tone & sweet Thin Lizzy riffs

  • nice riffs. pretty great at guitar in my opinion!

  • hey man this amp sounds great, but i got a question. How high was the master volume in this video?

  • I play this head (JCA20h) through an 80'sPeavey Butcher 4X12 cab which is loaded with 4 Celestion G-12T-100's. It sounds amazing at either low or high volumes. The 4x12 setup is LOUD. I also have a Peavey ValveKing 50w and the JCA20 amp through the 4x12 cab is much louder. I use a Jekyll & Hyde stomp box in front of it on the clean channel and it's literally my dream setup. If you want completely clean on full volume with tubes, pay for a Fender. For that matter buy a solid state.

  • Duese888 I'am going to be playing this in a small den. Does it sound good at low volume? Were did you have the master set at? Do you go deaf getting to the sweet spot especially in a small room?

  • Hey Great demo ! Is this thing LOUD enough to play with a drummer ? Thanks, Matt

  • @mchapeyron well, it depends on your drummer - don't expect to get any clean sounds with a loud drummer, you know . . .

  • @duese888 thanks for the quick reply ! Makes me consider the more powerfull JCA50H. Hard to find a place to actually try though

  • The amp sounds great, also great job on the Thin Lizzy licks !!!!

  • does the clean channel still stay that clean with humbuckers at full volume? if so i'm completely sold on this amp.

  • @41224jason : No, depends on the strenghts of your buckers though . . .

  • @duese888 hmm, interesting. i just have burstbuckers on my les paul. but i imagine that would be enough to overdrive it, wouldn't it?

i think i'll just wait till the 50W version comes out

  • if you keep your volume waaaayyyy down it could be semi clean

  • are you using any pedals?

  • @cshields818 : No

  • @duese888 k thanks

  • are you using any pedals?

  • Along with a great amp sound, giving Thin Lizzy some props kicks maximum ass.

  • Finally... someone who has a clue about how to record a guitar amp demo for youtube.

  • Loved seeing settings displayed. Can you comment on the build quality?

  • Love the crunch on this amp and nice... Thin Lizzy

  • Hey there again Olaf, just letting you know (again) that you video rocks, many of my friends have ordered this amp after watching this video, ultra cool sound! :-D

I am planning in ordering on for myself as well, if I get to sell one of my other amps :-)

  • THIN LIZZY... NICE!

  • ja genau so stell ich mir eine demo vor :)

kein langes geplappere, geile settings und perfektes spiel, danke!

  • looks pretty nice, im also thinking about using it with a combo i have but the combo is a 2x12" cab.

its either this or the Blackstar HT-5, the distortion i'll use mostly through pedals so its the crunch and clean im mostly interested in.

  • @najtrows they both have great crunch but I have an HT5 and I can say for sure that the clean is better on the Jet City.

  • R.I.P.

    Phil Lynott

  • great tone! great playing!!!

  • whats that beautiful song you played at 0.24

  • Your vid channel was as entertaining as your comment here. LOL.

  • @COBHC694 that's pretty good then anyone who needs more then a 4 on the pre gain section of a 6505 to play fluidly prob shouldn't own the amp to begin with

  • What cabs are those?

  • It is not really a cab, it is a combo with a V30s.

  • GREAT VIDEO! Thanks for sharing!

    Happy Trading!

  • is it good for van halen

  • how is it for metal?

  • loved it, as long as it has thin lizzy riffs tha's fine :D:D:D

    keep rockin

  • oh yes !!! the warm of a soldano amp yum yum ^^

  • nice demo, the head really looks huge though for a 20 watter

  • I'm saving up for this amp. What a great price too!

  • I think this video represents what we can consider to be a truly professional you tube video guitar amp review. Thank you, nice job!

  • where is the cabinett

  • he is using the speaker of the combo amp underneath, you can see the mic in front of it.

  • this sounds more like a marshall type amp right? can you get that SRV marshall gouvenor thing out this? or that hendrix sound?

  • really great.I'm getting this amp.

  • Amp sounded great, and then I heard THIN LIZZY and had to slam it with 5 stars. Thanks!

  • If you don't mind, can you quit your day job and just do demo's on youtube!!! Great job!

  • Finally someone who shows his settings on a demo! Thanks!

  • Killer tone! Death to nu metal.

  • Great demos!!! I think this little amp might find it way to my rig here pretty soon.

  • Awsome demo. Good sound quality, organized and to the point (no talking), Jet City should have paid you to post this. Love the Edwards. .

  • Wow, very nice tone. gonna have to check one of these out in person.

  • Cold Sweat... Nice!

  • COWBOY SONG!!!

  • Very nice playing man, sounds really awesome through that amp!

  • duese88, Trying to decide between the jca20h or the bh15h. Do you have any idea which amp has the most CLEAN headroom?

  • Sorry, I have never tried the BH15.

  • Comment removed

  • @sanctuarysucks

If you change the tubes, i.e. to some from Electro Harmonix, they have both a shitload of space for clean.

You have to choose which tone you like more.

  • Thanks for the info. I need to A/B them. I hope a GC gets them in stock near me. I would change to jj tubes like I do on all my amps and possibly a MM transformer. The Jet City is 50 bucks less...........I have seen the inside of Blackheart amps and they are perfect to mod. Kind of leaning toard the BH15H. Thanks again.

  • Got any links to any info on how you modded yours?

  • i mean value

  • Would you mind posting a schematic for your gain mod? I just ordered mine and i'd be very interested in boosting the gain. Im guessing maybe just trace out where the gain pot leads and see if there is a resistor there and lowering the volume...

  • You can lower the 1M infront of the pot, the the cathode of V1B to 1k and the interstage resistors between V1B and V2A from 1M/330k(g) to 470k/470k(g) . but also - please - decrease the gain pot value from 1M to at least 500k or you will end in mud land.

  • Ok so the 1Mohm resistor is lowered to say... 500k? and the cathode resistor for V1B to 1Kohm,

V1B and V2A to 470k ohm for both

And the Gain pot to 500Kohm.

Thats is correct? If so i will try it an post clips of the dues mod!=)

  • If you know the resistor numbers of the parts you replaced that would be great, all i can find is a schematic for the atomic 16 and not much on there is labeled.

  • For the dip sh*t that want's a player with more skill are you here to listen to the amp or are you looking to sign the next Steve Vai? I personaly don't want to listin to some guy blaze the fretboard when I want to hear to the amp. Less is more.

If you want to see what it can do go try one out with your playing technique. Two people with diffrent playing techique will make the amp sound completely diffrent!

  • nice Thin Lizzy riffing!

  • With room level, what do you mean, as low as not to disturb others in the house? im curious if i could get enough gain for 80s heavy metal at apartment level.

  • Well, buy one in your local GC then and post some blues then. lol

  • they don't have it yet at my gc. but i would be interested in trying it out. i didn't mean disrespect, just that i am intrigued and would like to hear more.

  • I've modded mine directly after this clip, not that I didn't like it, but I needed some more gain, a loop and a second channel to switch between clean and crunch.

I'm sure soon there will be a lot more clips available - lots of guys I know just bought one.

  • that is actually pretty good for me, i don't use a loop, or switch channels. just an od, or boost pedal for more gain. so it might work for me well stock. how is the headroom?

  • i might have some amp questions about a original '57 fender tweed deluxe. seems likie you are pretty handy with building/modding amps.

  • Just shoot me a mail within YT then, I'll have a look.

  • is this amp loud enough to stay clean in a rehearsal room?

  • Nice review man! Awesome cleans plus stunning tube distortion, this is definately my amp! :)

  • Really nice video, thanks for posting!!!

  • Mal ein richtig geiler crunch sound, schön juicy. Netter Amp

    5 *

    Robin :o)

  • Sau cool, den werd ich mal antesten :)

    Klingt richtig geil :D

  • I've been waiting for more demos on these great mew amps. Lots of gain available, but the cleaner and crunchy stuff sounds great too. Great job on this one!

Where did you get this amp? Do the retailers have them yet?

  • Dr. O! Well done. Thanks so much for doing this and for posting. They sound better than our own clips...

  • nice playing, really great :)

  • Awesome! Like I said on HCAF, you may have just convinced me to get one.
