Didnt play this very much as a kid (due to just not understanding wth I was doing) but I remember popping my CD into my CD player and listening to this all day 8D
I really loved this soundtrack. Jeehun Hwang brilliantly mixed native American percussion with futuristic synth sounds to convey the idea of a futuristic animal-worshiping warrior society. I have no idea whether or not he was familiar with the Battletech universe before he wrote this stuff but somehow he nailed it.
Yet another game I just couldn't get the music to work for. Between this game and Tie Fighter I can't even imagine how music would have enriched the experience.
This is a great game. I remember playing the playstation vesion back then haha. I'll have to find it online so I can play the pc version. Hooray for DOSbox haha.
Mechwarrior 2... back when they made real, inspired music for games. The Mech2 series was one of the highlights for sure. Its combination of world percussion, western orchestra and synth was a perfect musical description for the game's world and suspenseful gameplay.
The songs should've been longer, but they had to work with the space constraints of "redbook audio" in a CD-ROM game.
Just like the good old days. I played this game in my childhood and this game kicked ass back then when LCD monitors haven't been invented yet. This music is very inspiring along with the other ones they are well worth listening too. They are like easy listening music. The composers should be proud of themselves. All hail DosBoX!
@Trappe1983 I ran it with the adaptive compatibility feature that windows 7 has. But there were a lot of problems with crashing and glitches. So I was asking to see if you had any suggestions. Have not tried the DOS box thing yet. Maybe give that a shot.
@irishbernier This link will help you play it on your computer again. The only version i know it works on is XP. Idk about any other version :P. Add this in front of youtube.com.
Gregory Alper and Jeehun Hwang composed such great music, I hope when MW5 comes out they'll have their music in it! They're just too damn awesome to waste
Ahh, *sits back remembers*

I always thought of it as a slow march, and lightly bobbed my head to it as if it was my mech doing it.

You can even play it on Vista 64-Bit via DOS Box (and some tweaks), just google for it...

@Trappe1983 Can you play it on windows 7?

@M3iscool I haven't tried to play it on Windows 7 yet but I don't think that there would be a problem if you're running it via DOS box.

@Trappe1983 It can be done. Easiest way is with a disc image; but I think you need to use the DOS/WIN version, not Titanium.

Doesn't just the DOS version of the game run on DosBox or does the Win95 version also work?
