  • Here's a bit of intertextuality. The Klingon theme is almost note-for-note taken from the great British composer Ralph Vaughan William's 4th Symphony, which is awesome. Check it out!

  • From when intelligent AND action packed Star Trek films were made.

  • @BaboonLoveMonkey

They still are. The 2009 reboot was the best in years.

  • @crazyrabbits ok. #1, spock says a supernova threatens to destroy the galexy. no supernova would destroy a galexy. if you make a black hole is doesnt close, so the moons, and planet that spock was observing from would be destroyed as well AND ....... they made kirk a dooshbag, he seems like a guy from jersey shore.

  • @nightreaper999

Anyone who misspells the word "douchebag" has no right to be commenting, let alone using Youtube. You need to go back to school and get a primer on using proper sentence structure and punctuation, because very little of that made sense.

  • we need more star trek.

  • TO ALL PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE THIS VIDEO..YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED TO LIKE THIS VIDEO.......RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.............

  • almost a Wagner Opera quality to it. half expect to see a Dragon appear.

  • Perhaps today is a good day to die! Prepare for ramming speed! -Worf.

  • @Reggier2d2 But there is another ship coming in Sir!

    Its the Enterprise!

  • the borg queen dislikes this

  • while i miss the borg music from best of both worlds, i do love goldsmith's four note portentious borg theme....just awesome. compare what goldsmith does with a four note melody compared to toto with their main theme from Dune....both simple, one film audio menace par excellence, the other the main theme to Dune.

  • 0:45-1:07 sounds like the klingon battle theme

  • @Mrtrekkie156 Yes, it is. In the film is when worf appears in his ship, the Defiant.

  • @Mrtrekkie156 yeah it is.It is the scene where mr worf is punching on the console

  • @663voyager Perhaps today is a good day to die....

  • Today it's a good day to 1 people die!

  • red alert, all hands to battle-stations. engage.

  • At 0:45 .... In My Mind I Hear Red Alert Sirens O,..,O

  • QAPLAAA!!!

  • @ironhidewatson P'Taq! ;-)

  • This is an epic score! I love it!

  • The borg theme is fantastic

  • love the music at 0:59 - 1:07, back to the bad guy music from wrath of khan, except this time its for Worf's appearence

  • @mring007 except that the soundtrack for WOK was by James Horner, who also did the music for STIII: SFS.

  • @mring007 not khan, that was always used for the kilingons

  • @FashTurbo actually your correct...savage music though :)

  • @mring007 Yeah, it also shows up in some TNG episodes but the arrangement isn't quite as good as Goldsmith.

  • Star Trek first Contact is probably the best TNG movie made, and it is made better by Jerry Goldsmith's brilliant music. He was a fantastic composer and the music he did for star trek brings me out in goosebumps every time i hear it. Can we have more please?

  • Klingons always had the best music themes

  • "PREPARE FOR RAMMING SPEED!"

  • Haha I love the little Klingon addition for when we see Worf, preparing in typical fashion to ram his ship into the cube.

  • man this music makes me nervious

  • in this peace, you can tell which parts belong to the enterprize, the Defiant, and the borg cube. the others are a little hard.

  • When I first heard the Klingon theme mixed in this, I was hoping for a fleet of Birds of Prey backing up the Federation in their struggle against the Borg

  • This is one of my favourite Star Trek themes it's awesome especially the part where it plays a remix of the main TNG theme

  • oh shit..Red alert!

  • Fake bullets? ROFL!

  • STIMMT! Kein Feind war je besser als die Borg. Die Idee eines Hybridwesens das von einem Kollektiv gesteuert wird ist echt genial und finster

  • The Borg are The Best Star Trek Villains! =D

This is My Favourite Star Trek Movie! XD

  • I dont know i was always partial to the Space Propes that only spoke WHALE hehehe.

  • @DaddlerTheDalek no, it has to be khan. second best villain of any movie. ricardo montalban was great in that. m bison played by Raul Julia, from the original street fighter movie, is first.

  • Helm - it's the Borg!

1st Officer - Red Alert all hands toBattlestations!

    Captain - Engage!

  • 0:45 Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam!

  • very nicely done :)

  • Love this theme. I can play most of the film out in my head to it!

0:28 that part is just perfect for the Borg cube moving towards earth

  • cool,respect.

  • I'm a sucker for strong, deep thematic material, and no one did it better than Goldsmith.

  • oh i put pumps down isent of up :(

  • This is such a great score. Goldsmith's themes--both Jerry's and Joel's--are flawless.

  • @NeroBlack2200 They're a true example of the expression "Like Father, Like Son."

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 Well said. Joel definitely needs more mainstream work.

  • Great use of the Klingon Theme from The Motion Picture.

  • my fav part, i also concider it to be better than the original, only problem is that its short

  • The Borg space battle in First Contact is the best scene in ANY of the Trek movies (however, I admit I haven't seen the new one yet). It's exciting, there music's great, the effects are still amazing, TONS of ships, Trek's arguably most dangerous foe made it great. Also, having the Defiant there made for a nice little tie-in to Deep Space Nine!

  • Kirk vs. Khan in ST2, Kirk vs. Chang in ST6 were better in terms of dramatic effect. The battle in First Contact may be the best in terms of visual effects.

  • I agree, that's one of the reasons that FC is my favorite Trek movie so far. No. 2 is The Wrath of Khan, And I think the new one may be #3.

  • Borg spankingly awesome

"Perhaps it is a good day to die!...prepare for ramming speed!!!!"

  • Sir there is another starship coming in..WTF....Its the ENTERPRISE!!!!!!

  • great film. great score.

  • Probably the best score in the history of trek films.

  • ST 2&3 are in that top group too.

  • Maybe it´s a Good Day To Die! ;)

  • qua'pla!

  • Does anyone know where I can get an extend version of the theme from the first 15 seconds or so? I absolutely love it!!

  • callevahacm, there are two themes in the first 15 seconds. The first is based on 'The Great Barrier' cue from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and the 2nd is a variation of the 'Enterprise' theme (best heard in 'The Enterprise' from Star Trek: The Motion Picture). Look up 'Star Trek - The New Enterprise' video on You Tube.

  • ENGAGE!

  • Quote: Data; Star Trek Generations:

    "Oh, shhhhit!"

(Right before Enterprise D crashes onto Veridian).

  • "I believe I speak for all of us when I say...to hell with our orders!"

This theme and all of Goldsmith's Star Trek music is artwork! :)

  • i love it how mr. goldsmith inserts a klingon battle theme, very nice. and the cute part was, during the klingon battle theme, the scenes on the film show Worf on the Defiant.

  • This theme is AWESOME!

"Set a course for Earth..... Maximum Warp"

  • Jerry Goldsmith was great! :)
