  • 2k12!!!!

  • G.O.A.T. for centers. defend like russell and could score like Wilt..you will get another MJ before you get another Hakeem

  • This guy makes me so freaking proud to be Nigerian YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAH!!

  • Class Act! I wish i had the opportunity to watch hakeem in his prime(Started watching in 02). Can anyone recommend some of his greatest games? I know his finals series' when the rockets won have some of them, but anyone know some others? Thanks!

  • @rahPS324 1986 WCF houston vs lakers. twin towers with Sampson

  • This fills me with Nigerian pride. He is the king.

  • see if i can get this mother fucker for my indoor soccer team..........throw him in net. BAM NO GOALS SCORED

  • haha peen pon haha

  • He really is a good guy after the 94 champ and the MVP win he was getting big money offers from nike and reebok for a shoe deal he turned them down and let some cheaper company make them cause he said he wanted all kids to be able to have them and not just ones with money. class act

  • @ssjwes wow i didn't even know that. so much more respect :)

  • I´m 33 now and I grew watching him playing at his best, and believe me all u youngsters: Forget about shaquille, not even mention dwight howard (who´s dwight whoward?). Hakeem was the best center since kareem ( i would say even better than kareem). Ask shaquille what happened in the 1995 finals...

  • Yeah, Hakeem seems to be a very calm and gentle person, even if he speaks with a little tinge of African accent, so what? Anyone has a problem with it then bugger off! I think that his Nigerian roots should be visible, that makes him real, a person who does not deny its origins or try to conceal it. And I agree, nowadays NBA superstars are so much different as people as the stars from the past. I am proud I grew up watching players like Olajuwon, Jordan, Robinson, Drexler, Malone, Stockton...

  • todays nba players are so self-absorbed. me.me.me.me.me attitude.

its refreashing to see such a humble person..

  • Why was his college team called 'Phi Slamma Jamma'?

  • @thegov08

Because he and Drexler were dunking on everyone during the 83 season...they only lost b/c they were outcoached by Valvano in the title game.

  • @thegov08 nah that was his fraternity or something including him and clyde drexler and other ppl who dunked good

  • Next to Jabbar's sky hook, his turnaround fadeaway (before his decline in later years) was the most un-defendable and piercingly effective offensive shot ever IMHO. In his prime it was absolutely sick. Next to MJ, he was my favorite player, so for an eight year run I really liked watching the finals. I almost didn't mind MJ playing baseball once I realized it meant two rings for Hakeem. Great, great player...

  • best center ever

  • so funny how he makes a squeeling sound before speaks

  • Proof that all Islamics are not wackos....however, a young man with a ton of money can be iratic at times.....I was returning from Austin one Sunday night, and was flown past by at a high speed by a black Mercedes.....license plate "Akeem"

  • Proof that all Muslims are not wackos? Not even 1% are.. But too bad the media portrays Muslims as all extremists. Don't bring religion into this if you are going to be bias/stereotypical. And regardless of whether you are trying to not be a stereotypical person, you are doing it.

  • Hakeem is my fav legend along with MJ

  • yea i agree. nba in the 50's 60's 70's 80's and 90's where the best. those decades had the best players that where usually excellent in penetrating very tight defense and had outstanding offense and had plays and teamwork like no other. players like Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon where one of them and damn he was an awesome center. these days in the you can't find a center that has the finesse like Hakeem. and who can do another dream shake this days? the NBA now is not as exiting as it was before.

  • Man I miss him and players of his integrity. "The N-B-A just ain't what it used to be 20 long yeeaarrrsss agooo"

  • You are 100% right, We were so lucky to have been around to watch the NBA of the late 80's and 90's. When i was a teenager, i used to get excited to stay up and watch ANY nba game late at night (i live in the UK), and now, there isn't one single game that i would bother watching at 2am in the morning!. Hakeem had so much talent for a big man, great touch round the basket, and superb work ethic on 'D'.

  • @SixFoHopper Have you ever heard of Lebron James...? You should look him up he's not too bad.

  • @romanator14 . I think you have mis-read my comment, and have missed the point of it. Its not just about single players, the game itself has changed.

  • i hope hakeem can help hasheem thabeet become great like him!

  • him patrick ewing and chamberlain were my three favorite centers

  • he sounds like the cookie monster.Great player though.

  • Africa stand up

  • The guy speaks French, English, Arabic, and about 3 Nigerian dialects and you're going to diss his linguistic skills? I'm sorry, but GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.

  • @Sierra688 God bless u

  • you cant even live

  • foo...stfu...i bet he knows more languages than u....dumb ass idiot....

  • @vijanatrix I thought it was English he was speaking. English is one of the official languages of Nigeria. But I presume you ignore that. Poor guy, you have internet and all the information of the world but still ignorant as a hen.

  • Hakeem was one of a kind. The best thing I can say is that his game had NO weaknesses. None. How many players can that be said about? Only the all-time greats ever achieve that level of skill and perfection in their games.

  • my role model, nigerians stand up and clap, i am

  • Hakeem 0lajuwon

    is

    a

    BEAST!!!!!

  • i love this guy one of the best centers

  • I LOVE YOU HAKEEEMMMM!!!!

    no homo lol

  • I LOVE YOU MAN !!!

  • i think the he is the best center at all

    even than champirlen

  • Man...he would SMASH chamberlain in the most elegant, graceful, Hakeem way. Haha

  • the greatest center of all time.

  • class act!!! he is the GOAT!!!(greatest of all time) MAshallah a great representative for us Muslims and human beings PERIOD!! They dont make them like this guy too much, broke the mold! He is very humble when he didnt have to be, the BEAT in the CHest is a beast!!! GOD bless him and everyone taking time out to watch this video!

  • @rahizzzzl Olajuwon is definitely great but anyone who thinks he is better than Michael Jordan is nuts.

  • @dirac17 I think I might be going a little nuts...

  • @dirac17 I agree with brada. He is great, but MJ is on a different level all alone at the top.

  • @dirac17 I think he is better. If the draft was today and we knew what each player was going to be. I would take him because he's a big man. Skill wise athletic wise and etc Olajuwon had every tool in the tool box like Jordan. Imagine if Olajuwon ended up in Chicago New York or bigger market than Houston he would have been just as known as Jordan. Perhaps he is coached by Phil Jackson or Pat Riley.

  • He is so humble

  • It's amazing to think that one of Houston's favorite sons is from Lagos, Nigeria. Dream brought so much joy to H-town sports fans from 1980-2001 and did it all with dignity and class.

From the Phi Slama Jama days on Cullen Blvd. to two NBA titles, Dream did things we'll never see again. When you earn the respect of Bird, McHale, Parrish, Magic, Kareem, Moses, Dr. J, MJ and Barkley on the court, you've done something.

  • champ, what is this?

  • lot of people say, Wilt, Russell and Kareem are at the top. But my favorite center to watch is definetely the dream, what an amazing player.

  • the best footwork ever!!!!!!

  • unstoppable,,, his soccer bakcground helped...

  • Greatest Modern Center Ever. Only Wilt and Jabbar can dispute him as the Best Center Ever.

  • But im talking about all around: SCORING, REBOUNDING, OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING, SHOOTING, STRENTH, DEFENSE, SHOT BLOCKING etc. I agree with you that if Arvydas is probaly the greatest passing center yes and if he would have entered the NBA in the early 80s when he was fit he would have made an impact like as of Ewing, Robinson just to name a few but i don`t think he could reach the level of Hakeem offensively and defensively.

  • Yes I am including Arvydas in the top 10Centers Ever but not in the top 5. I think there have been better rebounding centers, shot blocking centers and scoring centers than Arvydas. But yes if Arvydas would have entered the league in his prime the 80s and healthy he would have gotten better stats especially in the scoring departament. And yes, he is probaly the greatest passing center

  • u make a goodpoint i was talkin to sam cassel lastnight he said ur same statement...!

  • and russell

  • Hakeem Olajuwon is amazing. One of the only players to ever get a quadruple double..

  • no doubt greatest center ever. active like kg/ power like moses/ fundementals before td. BALLERINA like no other equals "THE DREAM"

  • idiot

  • to that guy jvcforce1.yo you suck big time for saying shit like Motumbo is better and please stop acting like your down with Magic and dr.J cause you ain't.Hakeem is better then Motumbo face it cause if he wasn't how did he won back to back championships and finals MVP's?.so why don't you go watch that sellout Queen-Lame while i watch someone who is religious and left his mark in the NBA.

  • Is it possible that this guy is underrated? I would say he is top 3-4 bigs EVER

  • him and wilt chamberland

  • Please use appropriate language

  • ur talking gibberish lil boy, just cause hakeem don't have his shoe line doesn't mean he ain't got no flavor. Shaq got cheap shoes look at how many championships he got and how many people he dunked on. Hakeem is a religious person hes not as a money seeking wolf like jordan and other player

  • una gran pendejez es la que tienes tu

  • Actually Hakeem did have his own shoes, they were Spaldings. The reason he chose them was because they were cheap enough to where any kid could buy them, even those who don't have the 'bling' as you put it. Hakeem was a good person that thought about other people instead of himself. Jordan, as great as he was, only thought about the money, he was in it for himself.

  • Muslims are graceful, compassionate people. It is mandatory for all Muslims to give charity.

  • Stay humble asswipes.

  • Hakeem Thats My Hommie for life!

  • damn mate, time passes by..the best center in the 90`s. No question. I remember him since 86-87. the greatest center...by the way do me a favor...dont even compare hakeem with mutombo... please

  • yh im a muslim,

  • I'm not a muslim, but Hakeem must be a real blessing for all muslims in america. You can't find a better person than Hakeem so down to earth and such a clean player. He's representin' you guys very good, shows that every muslim aint a terrorist like everyone in US seems to think.

    THE GREATEST DREAM!

  • this guy was one heck of a player even though i don't like muslims lol

  • r u a racist or something?

  • hakeen the dreamer

  • He looks ripped! :D

  • Mashahallah good humble brother..dont need the bling...hes modest...hes a good muslim

  • Yea, But look at that shirt! I mean wheres the bling??????

He's not that good! Never once saw him on MTV, or in a music video!

  • peteranton what the fuck are you talking about? I bet you're one of those fucking allen iverson fans you bitch. i bet you like stephon marbury and some shitty ball players like that. it's not all about the bling you ugly motherfucker.

  • its called modesty, hes spends most of his money on charity, and if youve never stopped to look at it, all the people on mtv or in a music video, none of them are smart with their money, and none of them have any class

  • the greatest all around player ever

  • is michael jordan

  • shut the fuck up. do i say that hakeem is a bad player? no. so fuck off

  • dude you're from the freaking netherlands, how much baksetball would you know anyways? dikembe mutombo higher level player than olajuwon? are you out of your stupid mind

  • fuck you racist,do you think people from netherlands don't know shit, then who is francisco elson from the spurs huh,a dutch person and i didn't mention mutomb's name punk.and call jordan what you want i don't care.go think first before you say about something

  • yeah the guy's a an African descent, and he's one of the most mediocre guys on that team, he'll never be a starter with all the other quality big guys on that team, and btw you did mention mutombo before this post

  • Hakeem was great, but i'm down with Magic Johnson and julius Erving,Bill Russel,Jordan and Willis Reed(some don't know him.But Hakeem is a super basketball player from africa next to Dikembe Motumbo, especially his style of playing ball.

  • u weren't even around when magic johnson and julius erving was around. You definetly weren't alive when bill russel was dominating with the celtics. The reason I know this is that no one in the right mind would say that Hakeem is below Dikembe Motumbo...Mutombo isn't even close to Hakeem's level.

u gotta watch the games back then...u can't just read the stats

  • punk i wasn't around when magic and julius where there but i wasn't during Russel's Celtic dynasty but still i don't hate Hakeem and i DIDN'T SAY THAT MOTUMBO HAD A HIGHER LEVEL PLAY THAN HAKEEM!.jeeez is like those guys cause they are my favorite you hater, you wasn't around too when they where around fool

  • Haha, retard. Did you just say that Dikembe is better tha "THE DREAM"? Boy, you're way off.

  • can't you read fool,i didn't say motumbo was better then this guy sucka

  • Then please go back to grammar school and learn how to write please, jvc.

  • you need too learn too mind your business and shut your white momma's ass up

  • peteranton u're a moron

  • what a cocksucker you are

  • 1. how is he cocky

    2. "how has more money let me ask u that"...what the fuck are you saying

  • peteranton you ugly motherfucker. You don't know shit about basketball do you? Go suck your mother's dick you dick riding faggot! Your mother's a ho you ugly bitch!

  • you've got more bling? just cause you're vain(if you know what that means) and Hakeem cares about more than just "bling". I bet you're just a stupid ass wigger who gets all his money from Mommy and Daddy. BITCH!!!!!

  • jordan knew bentley, biches, gambling, shoe deals, cologne, bling, but that doesn't mean shat, hakeem olajuwon is one of the nicest and caring guy you'll ever meet

  • He is without a doubt the perfect center. Size, strength, footwork, attitude. I have been watching basketball for more than 27 years and have never seen a center like him. There have been centers with better numbers, but not by much. He was the best defense center ever. Russell was blessed to have many allstars around him, Hakeem was pretty much a one man wrecking crew during the back to back championships. He went thru Robinson, Ewing, O'Neal to those championships. All Hall of Famers.

  • you could tell the interviewer was very unconfortable in the presence of the big nigerian!

  • He is the best basketball plyer there ever was!!!

  • that guy interrupted hakeem while he was speaking. THATS MESSED UP! THe Dream is in the top 3 greatest centers ever for sure. Such a good person too.

  • Started playing bball @ age 17. Amazing how fast he was able to pick up the game & dominated his defenders w/ his wide arsenal of post moves & legendary footwork during his career.

  • i met hakeem in real life he signed my bball and everything dude was chill real chill

  • thats funny i met hakeem a couple of times.. and he was a very nice guy. with the exception of when he threw me out of his mosque when i was hooping there. i guess it was my fault though. i kept cussing..

  • Hakeem was the best center I ever saw play and I'm a Spurs fan no bias here. Just the truth he was ridiculous.

  • He played in the Dream Team? I didn't know he changed his nationality. Funny how he played in the Dream Team and his nickname was The Dream.

  • yeah played in the 96 dream team. He got his citzenship

  • Here my unbiased Nigerian view here. Not sure about Hakeem being the best center ever. But he is certainly up there. Had the foot work, quickness, ball handling, could pass out of the double team, a ton of offensive moves, great great defense, and won the NBA title with no major star on his team (albeit while Jordan was on sabatical). With those stats I would say he was certainly the MOST COMPLETE CENTER that ever played the game.

  • "...won the NBA title with no major star on his team ..."???? I think you forgot Clyde Drexler!

  • how about the first title

who was the best player besides him

    kenny smith cassell horry thorpe.

are you seriously telling me these guys were stars.

  • No body asked Jordan to leave, so stop with the won "albeit while Jordan was on sabitical" crap. Jordan came back in midseason wore 45 and dropped 50 on the Knicks. They reached the playoffs and got beaten by the Magic, who go swept by the Rockets in 95.

  • excuse me sir, what are u talkin about sir??? so who in your opinion is the greatest center evr??
