  • 1:09 shoulder thingy :D

  • I love this song so much!!!! -3

  • This is my duet with one of my best friends of all times for our spring concert

  • oh how sweet... but you girls aren't into gentlemen like these any more... you like big muscly gym rats with tatts and macho attitudes who treat you like dirt.... seriously what is up with that?

  • @ItsMsDori happy 17 bday

  • I turn 17 tomorrow :(

  • wow you missed the part at the end when she runs out of the shelter at the end and screams WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Dan who played 'Rolf' in the movie version of The Sound of Music (he's singing up there!), and I are premiering a show together in the Atlanta, GA, area January 27, 2012.

He is still just as charming, and would love to share an evening of song and dance with you all! More event information available on the calender page at The Earl Smith Strand website. Just google it!

  • @lianneloxar Lol, he was a Nazi.

  • omg i watched this movie and world cultures and im the only 1 who knew all the songs by heart ;D

  • I love how they randomly go on a sprint around the conservatory!

  • It's my 17th bday! ^^

  • love <3 :)

  • I still cannot believe that Charmian did the whole dance on an injured ankle! That is so cool!

  • My daughter is turning seventeen in an hour and we are enjoying this song together!!!!!!

  • sad he ended up being a jerk at the end D=

  • you know, mostly guys would just kiss you there on the spot.. but a true gentleman waits for the time to kiss you!! <3 hoping there's a guy like that!

  • Just fine. I wanted to watch this movie again after more than 40 years.

  • love it

  • and then came the war, and women realized that they could work and take care of themselves!

  • We'd be doing this in our muscial play. I'd love to take the role in this part. <3

  • tomorrow is my seventeenth birthday and I turned this on so I could sing with It. I love the sound of music and grew up with it and I feel like I've been waiting my whole life till I could turn this on and sing with it. it's easily one of the best movies of all time

  • @wermarshall07 LOL i did that too. it was waiting and waiting to be16 going onto 17.

  • Im 12 and im going to count down the next 4 years till the day i can sing this song for real

  • I'm singing this in a show

  • I love this song. Always have. Wish men were this sweet and romance was still this pure.

  • @xoalyssa21 Find a Nazi, any Nazi.

  • Wooow I'm delolusionel ive been awake over 24 houurs now. It's like six am I haven't slept I'm on my phone. Don't know why I'm listening to this... I used to listen to it when my sister was 16 going on 17, now she's 19 though and I'm going to be flower girl next year for her, wow I'm so bored I'm just typing on and on, well it seems like its on my phone. Good song.

  • @kayla1hope1

Like what? Tell you they love you then you find out he's a Nazi and then he tries to kill your whole family?

  • Whats the boys name? In the movie??

  • @plum741 Rolf

  • lol this song is so funny. like 18 year olds know anything more about the world than 17 year olds

  • @trishdadish82 The number 8 is infinity. The number 7 is the seven seals of the Apocalypse, as in the slaughtered seals in Canada.

  • Tomorrow is my 17th birthdayy! So I am 16 going on 17 :)

  • I wish boys today could be like that

  • toooo wriiiiitee oooonnnnnnnn

  • Haha I remember when I saw this movie (again!) on TV when I was 16. I turned 17 later that year.

Now I'm 19 turning 20. Oh how time flies...

  • 6 people dont know the sound of music

  • just turned 17 today too. <3 the way this song brings me childhood memories

  • i just turned 17 today! thank you sound of music for being my fav classic for 7 years :)

  • i love this...especially when it's used in the film 'beautiful thing' during the love scene...so ironic and innocent.

  • as a kid i loved this and stil am haha!

  • I'm 16 going on 17 :)

  • my dad and brother DESPISE this song. therefore i play it and sing 24-7

  • I'm excited to be able to see this because I got to see the gazebo from this in Austria

  • It's 3:30am and I randomly thought of this song so I looked it up. The Sound of Music is still the only film with constant singing that doesn't drive me up a wall. Classic.

    Vanesa

  • Sound of music is amazing a girl called

Sophie halligan in my class can sing Kurt

    Amazingly

  • very beautifull, but i don't see what this has to do with nazi's

there were worser people than the nazi's

people who captured fellow human beings, slaughther them if they did not do what they want them to do and all for self profit, that their descendants today in this day and age are still profitting from

so look at yourself before you scream nazi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i heard she still danced even though her ankle was sprained

  • its so BEAUTIFUL

    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥3

  • I wish I hadn't let cads write on my empty page lol

  • In many ways, this is the cutest dance ever. :) They were so cute together, until Rolph had to go and be a Nazi deush bag. :( Poor Liesel. Hahaha that sucks that it gets ccut off right before the cutest part. I love it when she goes "WHEEEEE!!!!!!!!!" hahaha it's so adorable.

  • How many Jews did Rolf kill before he got raped at Stalingrad?

  • Dirty dancing has nothing on something real like this

  • if my boyfriend broke out into song about he could take care of me, I think I'd marry him right on the spot

  • HEYHEYHEY!!!!!!!!! CUT

  • It's rare to find a guy trying to avoid a kiss from a pretty girl like that nowadays... :-)

  • @MechiSalve her father is his superior and has access to firearms. of course he's not going to kiss her. he values his life and career.

  • @MechiSalve if it was a hot boy ud kiss him too :p

  • @MechiSalve She was trying to get a kiss? That's subjective.

Looked like she just got closer and while doing she was singing.

  • @MechiSalve Yeah it is.

And aww...it left out the best part...where he runs away and she goes..."WHEEEEEE!"

  • this is the last day i can sing this...i'm turning 17 tommorrow :(

  • @SweetLittleElise so you're 17 going 2 18

  • when i was little i would watch this movie with grandmother over and over again wow its been so long

  • when i was little i would watch this movie with grandmother over and over again wow its been so long

  • I used to think 16 going on 17 was old and now I'm 19! its madness lol. anyway this is my favourite after edelweiss <3

  • @natflix agreed. everyone seems to love Do, A Deer (is that the name?) and So Long, Farewell. But Eidelweiss and this are so much better!

  • @ilcrox ~Doe, a deer, a female deer.~ so doe is like a girl deer

  • @natflix same! to be honest I was a bit sad when I turned 17 because I can never be a kid who can have fun all the time but I realized that I was wrong lol

  • oh myy goodness...i feel so old! im older than ROLF :'(

  • i love the character in the moive XD

  • One of the sweetest, most romantic scenes of all time in movie history.Liesl is so beautiful.Rolfe and her made such a lovely pair, why did he have to break up with her to become a Nazi?I feel sorry for Liesl :,(

  • u know the boyfriend is blonde and has blue eyes the hitler had it so i bet hitler liked him and if u since the movie the boyfriend betrays her and goes to the nazi and also the boyfriend doesn t let them go

  • i went to the set of the film to the summer house, but it was closed. all because a girl wanted to dance like hem, fell off a bench and broke her leg. we also saw all of the trees that they climb later in the film but we were not allowed to climb them

  • :) I used to listen to this everynight when I was younger

  • Every time I hear this song, I always sigh a sigh of happiness and think of my grandmother, this is our favorite film to watch together.

  • @Chainsawkoneko mine with my grandmothers too wow its been too long

  • This song brings back so many memories! I used to sing this with my daddy when I was five!

    <3

  • 4 people suck!!!!!!!

  • haha i wonder how many times she stacked over those benches while running on them..! LOL

  • 4 people have never fallen in love...

  • A child offering to take care of another child :/

  • @SilverDancer531 Well since he eventually became a nazi, he must've been part of the Hitler Youth, and so 17 was considered very mature.

  • @SilverDancer531 16/17 is not a child. They are considered old enough and responsible to look after themselves. Despite not being an adult, they can be old enough to do a lot such as drive, marry, get their own place and have children.

  • This song is magical. I just adore this movie.

I remember watching this at 10 thinking "Whoa they are old." Time flies and here I am at almost 16 feelings still quite young. ^ ^

  • @kizzy75 same here~ i was younger than the youngest child~ now im older than the eldest~

  • too bad Roth and Liesl had to broke up at last :"(

  • Best song in the whole movie! I remember the first time i watched this scene when i didnt think it was gross when they kissed! Ever since its been my favorite scene

  • Aww I'm always gonna miss being 16-17 years when ever I hear this song. I remember watching this movie when I was a little kid and when I saw this song I was like "Oh I can't wait to be 16-17!" and now I'm 19.. lol

  • She was so pretty. I loved this!

  • I'm so excited to perform 'Sound of Music' at my high school. We are so professional, some of our students went on to Cirque du Soleil and are performing in Toronto. But I think that because I'm nothing but German that I'll be casted as 'German women running down the street #2' even if I did audition for Leisl, I'll never get it.

  • the impressive thing is she is doing this scene on a sprained ankle

  • Ah yes the days of when women wanted to break out and get loose and the men were complete gentlemen being scared lol.

  • @RichardElden Yes her acting could use a lot of improvement. Actually she was only @ 9 or 10 months older than Daniel Truhitte. But you're right: she looked a decade older than him.

  • I love this, I could really relate this song.

  • her voice is just magnificent

  • ughhhh i love this song soooo muchh!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is either a song you love or hate and i love it!

  • My God, this video makes the movie look really old, but I just saw the film for the first time on Blu-Ray and I was completely blown away by the picture and audio. Anyone who likes the film should get the blu-ray. I can't say enough about it!

  • Hands down most beautiful, best film ever made.

    They cut out the "WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"

  • I named my cat after Liesl! :)

  • these two are the essence of youth and beauty, grace and elegance. They should have become major stars..

  • @Guardian223 Charmian Carr went [ had !] to go on a promotional tour for two years. She was - I think - so identified w/the role of Liesl, it was hard to get any other roles. Daniel Truhitte maybe had the same fate befall him. Interesting when you think these two were 22 and 21 years of age playing 16 going 17! Marvelous movie.

  • i love thiss movie. =]

  • the sound of music is my school paly this year, and im trying out as Liesl.

  • Im Liesl in a play that a local church is putting on in my community and I am really trying to portray the charachter as this Liesl. Im adding myself in it too but people expect THE Liesl!

  • I never noticed this but she sounds like such a munchkin! its adorable!!

  • nobody can ever beat the original!!! ive always loved this movie and this song is one of my favorites!

  • omg i absolutely adore charmian corr!!!!!!!!

  • HEY! You cut it right before the cutest part - when she goes "WEEEEEEEEEE!"

  • Now that I listened to the original again, their voices are actually not that great. But, the original version definitely is the one with the most charm~ :)

  • SO HOT LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hottie with a body

  • gosh I love this so much.

I wish my boyfriend acted like that.

  • I still have this movie on cassette =P and in perfect condition too Haha My favorite movie ever still =P

  • Little girl? I'd break up with him if he said some of those things to me. I know it's just a song, but hey, some of those things I'd punch his face in for saying.

  • I used to sing this alot when I was younger...funny, it doesn't sound as good when it's "I am seven going on eight".... :)

  • @Nutarei or 9 going on 10, thats when i first saw it

  • Lol I love his face when she plays with hair hahaha

  • @jyuyoung I think the Nazis did, in a sense, control his thinking, but I don't know if it had to do so much with the fact that he was young. People during that time were threatened, so most became Nazis out of fear.

  • Aw, it cut off the part where she goes "Wheeeeeee!" after he kisses her and runs away!

  • What does she say right before drinkers of Brandies? =P That's the only part I can't figure out... I love this song. I asl othink the dance break at the end has the best coreography in the whole movie...

  • @cantbedescribe0110 "Bachelor dandies, drinkers of Brandies, what do I know of those?"

  • The "tooooo writtteeeee oonnnnnn" that Liesl sings in the intro to the song is just SO SWEET AND CHARMING.

  • cool

  • Haha I look so much like Rolfe.

  • this is my favourite movie..its just amazing!!! my dad makes fun of it but i dont care :)

  • @shannycakes13 My fave too. What is there to make fun of?

  • soooooooooogoooodd!!!

  • cuz i just LOVE when guys tell me what to do..and nazi's. yup. totally my type. bahaha.

  • Her dress is BEAUTIFUL

  • @Buds0fMay I've always wanted it; so flowy! =)

  • @Buds0fMay I love the dresses in this movie. ;)

  • @Buds0fMay i know i coulden't agree less

  • @Buds0fMay i know i coulden't agree less.

  • everytime i watch this i wish i was falling inlove and had a scene like this LOL

... ahhh ther dance scene is beautiful 3.24 till they kiss!! cuteee

  • It just occurred to me that he's supposed to be working. Lol. I love this song.

  • ive alwys luved this song evr since i heard it

  • @eternalmoon52 Same here, and now when I sing it , it makes sense! I'm 17 tomorrow!!

  • i always wanna watch this movie but then i remember how long it is. such good songs !

  • Where is the grey area here? Did Oprah say "the entire von Trapp family" or "the entire cast"? Rolf certainly was not a lead role, but it was a co-starring role with a featured song/dance, a love story, and whose character made the happy ending possible! Dan Truhitte is someone I know personally, and I know for a fact he was deeply hurt from not being invited nor even mentioned by a single soul on the show, as if he didn't even exist or that his work didn't matter.

  • Charmian Carr has to be one of the most beautiful women ever.

  • As to the "entire" cast of The Sound of Music reuniting for the first time in 45 years.....

WHERE WAS ROLF? Daniel Truhitte is ALIVE and WELL, still sings better than ever, still dances and puts on shows and has a voice studio where he teaches out of his home in Concord NC where he continues contributes to the lives of young people almost every day. Yet Oprah found it acceptable to shun, ignore, and act as if Mr. Truhitte were dead and that his contribution didn't matter, totally shameful, sad.

  • @Vaelsung1 its only the leading cast, and rolf didnt have a lot of screen. i meen max and the woman the capten was going to marry arent there eather, but they had much more screen time than rolf.

  • My most favorite movie scene ever. I remember watching this when I was four thinking I was going to have the exact same thing. I'm already seventenn now and it hasn't happened darn!!

  • @speaktheworld

    same ;-)

  • so damn cute...and then he becomes a nazi. go figure

  • they look so happy together when she starts singing

  • Its still a beautiful song you jackasses that's all that matters!

  • WHY DID ROLFE HAVE TO BECOME A NAZI!!!!!

  • @xxcool2tintxx haha.. tragic! lol i was so pissed wen he full turned against her.. damn nazi! haha :)

  • going to do tis in a skool play made happy

  • i love how he's telling her she's naive, and she's agreeing with him, and through the whole scene, she's coming onto him... haha!

  • @Onami3 hahaha ikrr

and hes the one whos like freaking out XD

  • Adorable. I know Charmaine Carr played Liesl, but who played Rolph in this movie?

  • @jyuyoung I don't think it's an excuse but it makes sense. It was easy for them to brainwash younger people because they're more impressionable. Doesn't mean he should be let off, but it makes sense.

  • Ralph was a bit of dick even before he became a Nazi, imo. Trying to tell her what to do.

  • @olive345 The times were like that. That's what men did. Notice that he basically tells her how she feels-- it's actually a good way to show what people's attitudes were towrad women during the time period in which the movie was set.

  • Her actual age when recording the movie was actually 23. But there are so many actresses who are supposed to be (much) younger in the movie.Examples:

Jennifer Grey - Dirty Dancing - was 27, supposed to be 17

Rachel McAdams- The Notebook - was 26, supposed to be 17(first part of the movie)

Kate Winslet - Titanic - 22 years old then, supposed to be 17

It's like 16-17 is the golden age for young girls, and I feel so old cause I have just turned 18, but feel like a 16 year old girl...:/

  • @SofiaAlskarOlaSalo you're right! haha monday it's my birthday, then I'm 17:)

so I really love this song now:)

  • man , this is what my first date's gonna be like!

  • I always hate it when my boyfriend leaves me to become a Nazi....

  • @iwanticecream100 bahahahahahahaha sameeeee

  • @iwanticecream100 HAHAHA XD Clever.

  • @iwanticecream100 Yes, but the Nazis brainwashed him. Rolf was very much still alive underneath the evil the Nazis poisoned his mind with.

  • @Surfer041 thats no exuse

  • @iwanticecream100 really? thats what i live for.

  • @iwanticecream100 That's were he went?! To think that I watched this as a child, unaware of the horror!
