I was wondering about hash v's hemp oil. Interesting to see that it healed his tumors. Hope he cleans up his diet though.

I'm thinking that maybe the best way to extract the cannabinoids from hemp is to first juice the whole plant so you get some of the cannabinoids in the juice with all the enzymes still intact. Then the pulp is already largely deprived of moisture so it's easier to dry out, as it needs to be to make hash from, which gets the rest of the cannabinoids out also in the raw state.

This medicine is for so many things. Do you think that raw cannabinoids are not going to be as good as heat treated ones anyway? It would work equally as well, or better. You have actually mentioned just using the juice from the leaves, and wheatgrass too! If green juices can also cure cancer, how much more with THC.

Thus I say stick to what is on the documentary - it has disclaimers about the process too. Also what Christian mentions about wasting time and money is pretty critical as in NYC it is $7,500/lb

@paulagloria I don't really know why you'd suspect me to be a doctor, as I haven't discouraged the use of hemp medicine, only question the best extraction process. Obviously the oil has shown time and again to be very effective, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others and use it myself. It is clearly the most efficient method of extracting the cannabinoids, but the best quality? Some things it has not cured, like HIV and Parkinsons, only controlled. That's why I was wondering if......

Maybe this is why Rick said he found the best solvent to use is Ether, because it has a very low boiling point (35 C) and therefore would not require anymore heat than body temperature to separate the solvent from the cannabinoids. @paulagloria - My preference would be to make the oil using Ether as the solvent of choice as it has a low boiling point of 35 C and I just found out that enzymes die at around 48 C. This solvent would however require a distiller or else you can knock yourself out with one wif. I'd still take hemp in oil form using Ethanol as the solvent as it's easier. You just need the rice cooker. Extracting the juice before using the pulp in the solvent would only be an option if growing the plant yourself.

@germanicelt Paula is right, the cannabinoids must undergo a process of gentle heating, called decarboxylation to mature the medicine to make it most effective. Doing it another way or without heat while expecting to heal is a waste of your time and money.

@germanicelt We recommend not allowing the oil when made to reach over 290 degrees Farenheit. Certainly you don't want to overheat or you will vaporize unintentionally, or burn the medicine.... hence the slow-heating device we recommend which is the slow-cooker, or rice-cooker. (A heating pot that plugs in without an exposed heating element in it.)

@paulagloria I'll take some credit for this response, as my take on this has always been - if I bake a cake without following the directions will I still get a cake? The answer is no. My fear in this is that people who are dying will not get the right information and try anything that appears to be easier than boiling solvent and avoiding an explosion, which intimidates many people. I understand that and it should intimidate you, it is dangerous.

In the meatime, we are left to do it for ourselves. I don't advocate for breaking the law, but I do advocate for healing without hurting.

@chrychek With a little common sense and basic safety being practised, you can make hemp oil safely. I do not recommend doing it inside as the fumes can build up and a spark is all it takes, like from the fridge kicking in or a pilot light on a propane stove or clothes drier. Doing it outside is best. Please don't hurt yourselves.

I like the larger message of this, but I have to disagree with this gentleman re the 14th amendment. It was about preventing states from abridging a person's federal rights under the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights (which create our civil rights.) This was needed to overrule the Supreme Court's Dred Scott decision re rights of slaves.

The 14th amendment puts both native born and naturalized citizens on the same ground and protects them from having rights violated by state governments. It just clarifies a role for the federal government protecting civil rights above the state governments.

@paulagloria - I suppose that if one were in a state which had liberal drug laws then the 14th amendment might be an issue. The DEA, which is federal, has its power in part because of the 14th amendment and other mechanisms which strengthen the hand of the federal government.

The issue has not really come up that I know of, even in California or Oregon.
