  • Autodesk supports SOPA. Boycott them.

  • @AmeriProud67 Autodesk does not support SOPA. Autodesk considers intellectual propertiy rights important but does not think SOPA is the proper way to handle the issue.

  • @Autodesk Thumbs up for this comment.

  • I just wish that is came with a ultra training dvd. You pay $3000 for the programme then dont even know how to use it. Im not bitching just saying how hard it is.......

  • what program did they use to make this?

  • @xAuraDesigns The content in this reel is created using a number of Autodesk products but most commonly 3ds Max, 3ds Max design and Maya. Most of the CAD style content started in Autocad, Revit or Inventor.

  • @shawnhendriks in order of those products what are the best? n can u send me a link of where to get them?

  • what's the song name?

  • what is the name of the song?

  • game at 1:30 ??

  • autodesk loves their customers everyone uses maya but when im creating a human or some type of creature I use Zbrush cause its a much faster workflow cause your painting on the object. the downfall to this is your working in high polygon count where as with maya your working with low polygon so maya has in advantages but autodesk to me makes the best 3d programs for games, movies, and television.

  • its impossible to distinguish the differences between Maya and max vray renders today the only difference is in the interface of each other but one thing is for sure, most of people turn to maya because they hear that movie or that game was made in maya the only thing that makes professional companies turn to maya is because of the programmable interface and capability of making easier scripts and 3d gears to make what they desire with a better work flow but any thing is possible in the two

  • @NiaSilva I agree with you NiaSilva it really is the MEL Script also above all that Mayas Animation is much better than 3Ds Max's The paint tool is now available on 3Ds Max 2011 which is a good thing I suppose, its a great little kit

  • @NiaSilva for me 3ds max is alot easier for making games even tho i use both

  • impresionante

  • why the hell are some clips recycled?

  • Someone knows the name of music? Thanks. Or any band sound like.

  • Los mejor de autodesk I like :D

  • :* I love you autodesk :)

  • A lot of the footage is reused from the 2009 showreel. Too bad.

  • @LHD231 Section 8

  • @LHD231 Section 8

  • @LHD231

    Seciton 8

  • Autodesk tools are awesome!

  • What rendering software are they using? Cant be max's default crap render - How do you stop the god-damn flicker in the animation renders? anyway good video.

  • @directorlog mental ray..the autodesk render engine

  • @directorlog

it can be cubase , reason , fl studio ... reason for the samples , and for live playing and proff. mixing they´re use cubase .... DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE SONG ??????? sorry for my motherfucking english

  • Anyways, im not gonna argue with anyone who says that 3ds max doesn't come with v-Ray, I will recommend them to use the 2011 or the 2010 version of 3ds max because guess what? In those versions it comes integrated with the program , oh and by the way for those that didn't know autodesk bought v-Ray so it now comes included with the program.

  • @Gscxel I downloaded 3ds max(student version) and it did not come with V-ray, nor have I read anything that says it does.

  • @Gscxel I think you mean mental ray, not v-ray

  • @Gscxel What? Mental ray comes with 3ds Max, not V-Ray?

  • @Gscxel I'm not sure where you got this information but autodesk did not buy Vray and it is not included with 3ds max. Mental ray and Iray are the included renderers along with scanline.

  • @Gscxel Actually is Mental ray not V-ray, there is a difference

  • 5 people listen only Justin Bieber

  • whats the song-s name?

  • Beautiful

  • very nice

  • Those guys are real pr0s, I always wanted to be like them :P, and now after seeing all these, I think I'm going to academy :P lol

  • I feel like an utter noob with 3D max after watching this

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Anyone know what the song is called? for this video? :D cheers

  • Autodesk are the best! no doubt about, they killed the competetion, they closed the market to their products, great business actually in my opinion we don't have no choice...it gotta be autodesk if you wanna be a Pro!

  • @aissajez911 I agree its gotten a bit ridiculous. Maya, 3Dsmax, and XSI at one point the biggest rivals bought by one company

  • muy bueno, 10!

  • can i achieve parametric designs like in 1:08-1:10 with the help of autodesk products without scripting?

    thx in advance

  • It's just great! Excellent work! Rich!

  • Just imagine viewers, what the experience would be like to work in team part of mult-million dollar industry just to enhance the world of technological problems to better solutions by using Autodesk for Autodesk clients. ''Imagine it so you can create it.''

  • 1:35 what game is part of this sequence?

  • @pablo23slide Its call Stormbirds...

  • @marceloflix Thank you very much for answering. =)

  • @marceloflix Anyway, I think you're wrong ... Stormbirds not the game that I've asked. I speak of the 1:34 minute game in which there is a long-haired white guy with a sword.

    Somebody answer me. Thank you.

  • @marceloflix After searching a bit I found it. It was the computer game The Witcher.

  • @marceloflix After searching a bit I found it. It was the computer game The Witcher.

  • @pablo23slide Hohh!!! Ok my bad ;P

  • O MELHOR EDITOR DO MUNDO PARABÉNS

  • i love autodesk maya and 3d max,amazing,suparb,gr8.

  • Autodesk is the best :)

  • 1:50 is that an ipad? I like how you are now showing users acturaly using it although the screenshots look a little super imposed. Anyone got links to the Mac Guff (Glasgow) shots at the beginning? (id like to see the full clip)

  • Live long...., Newtek

  • I love you autodesk :-*

  • Adapt and survive is what we artists do best. You'll never change big corps and your words mean nothing to them in their money making ways. So, just take what's offered and make good use of it. Remember, your tools are only as good as your imagination. Not the other way around.

  • the year is 2010 .

maya and 3dsmax has old stuff that needs improving for over 10 years.

    let me give an example,

I still cant unwrap uvs with ease in 3dsmax nor maya. it would take me much longer compared to some other tools.

why dont they look at the uv tools out in the market and improve? this is ridiculous.

  • @mavinova83 Which other uv tools are u talking about?

  • @jaandhruv I am using uvlayout pro. it is incredible.

  • Ya, this is a pretty crap show reel. This doesn't look like a reel from a company that practically OWNS ALL the high-end 3d packages, and finishing systems.

  • agreed...

i mean i expected to atleast see 2-3 feature films.

2 moths ago they were so proud to have been used in the making of avatar...

and now nothing in the showreel???

    weird..

  • this may be a joke.

  • This reel could be much much better.

I think this reel reflects what I think is wrong with Autodesk - they have too many software applications that cover a lot of professional fields and they want to show a bit of everything - from visual effects, to street design to plumbing. Jack of all trades, master at none.

  • This is their like shittiest showreel yet... seriously... i miss alias

  • I have to agree with a lot of the comments here. Were all of these shots done purely with 2010 as it ships? That is, no plugins or extras? I argue that if you want to show off how good a piece of software is, it shouldn't rely on paid-for additions.

I also agree with the poster who spoke of something like V-Ray being included... it should include now "standard" rendering features and speed by default.

  • Autodesk should integrate V-Ray into 3ds max and Maya maybe then I'd consider actually paying for it ;)

  • @SoSoRandom123

Mental Ray is good render, so why they need to integrate Vray?

  • @SoSoRandom123 V-Ray is not made by autodesk so they would have to pay for the license then pass on the cost to you. even if they were able to get a discount and get you the license half off thats still an extra 500 dollars for a renderer that doesnt fit into all workflows. people would complain about the fact that they are paying for a V-ray license when they want to use Renderman, Maxwell, Brazil ect. Maya already ships with Mental Ray which many people prefer and find more powerful than V-ray

  • @tman152 ofcourse there would be a discount if v-ray came with 3dsmax. in case of people not wanting to use v-ray, it could be made optinal upon purchase. a lot of people don't use mental ray either, but it comes with 3dsmax anyway. in this case they would be given a choice of getting 3dsmax with a renderer they prefer more.

i work in architectural viz and the majority of designers i know use v-ray. many people would welcome this addition to 3dsmax.

  • @SoSoRandom123 3ds max does have V-Ray!! i have it

  • @Gscxel maybe someone installed it and you don't know... or who knows what cracked version of max you have ;)

'cause V-Ray doesn't come with max... or maya... It's 3rd party, it's independend, stand-alone. You have to install it, and it's not included in any autodesk product.

  • @SoSoRandom123 maya is autodesk..and the showreel above s all mental ray..mental ray is much more better than v ray if u can use it ..its just alot harder..and i mean alot

  • @SoSoRandom123 That wouldnt be a bad idea, adm mental ray is just as good to be fair

  • does anyone know the name of the song?

  • Great reel, a little conservative if you ask me.

I would like to read the opinions of real professionals about the software autodesk owns, the people who really use it for a living.

  • didn't impressive me =/

  • Perfect ++

  • I think Autodesk has become mostly corporate nonsense, taking out each year a new, incomplete version of 3ds max instead of working on a read good and complete version. 3ds max still doesn't have a terrain generator or a fluid/water generator it relies onto much too many plugins and the render time are not as improved as advertised. I love this software and I admire their creators but they have sink into corporate too much nowadays which is a pity for both them and us, the users.

  • punctuation is a skill.

  • Autodesk just care about money.

We(customers) are just the way for this company make money.

  • Pretty mediocre if you ask me. This is the result of buying companies with no apparent reason, just to create monopolies. Maya used to be my favourite 3d application, until Autodesk bought it. Now it's a mixture of futile features and messed up menus. Working with Maya is like driving a tank to buy cigarettes. I miss so much Alias and they amazing inventions.

  • @ermalkoci I second that - Autodesk would do itself a favor by opening competition back up

  • Autodesk want everything and do not care about the customers. Always buy softwares to avoid the customers to have choice.

One day, this company will buy the blender to force all customers to spend money.

    Sorry for my English.

  • @stenionet I agree, it's just a matter of time for autodesk to buy blender, just like how they bought maya

  • @stenionet fortunately Blender won't get sold.

They want to earn they money like you want in your business. They by owning most of the 3D software they can push the prices whatever they want and people who needs it to work, is forced to buy expensive licenses.

  • @stenionet well thats called a smart business

  • @stenionet sad but true.... you heard about Sculptris? Z-brush bought it... i hope that this soft will dont disapear in time.

  • @stenionet blender license(gnu gpl) makes it so that blender will ALWAYS be free.

  • @stenionet Theirs no doubt it wont happen, Autodesk is the one and only legit company to delivery these amazing 3D/animation software equipment. Its the leading brand used by all or yet most professionals only 2-3% may be against this. Autodesk has a clever approach, lazy people can get 3ds max, learn less but yet do powerfull work, or People with high interests and want to learn everything can go for Maya.

  • @Hayri491 Are you stupid? Your saying Maya is more professional and better than Max? That obviously means you don't know the full potential of Max. Instead of adding 1 and 1 to get 2 dividing 48 by 12 getting its square root gives the same result, and more complex. But that doesn't mean its better..its just retarded. Do you know that in the gaming industry Max is tremendously used more than Maya? And thats for many reasons: Biped being one of them. So before you generalize you should think first

  • @xXxBladeStormxXx erm They are both good but Maya is abit more advanced, 3Ds max is a simplified version of Maya... Yes industry uses 3Ds MAX more im not saying 3Ds Max is shit, Maya is more complicated so their fore I may ask you that question. Are you stupid? some great games were made using Maya in the games industry. Mate 3Ds Max is a simplfied version of Maya that is all...

  • @Hayri491 Max is not a simplified version, its a different thing. It has biped. Does Maya have Biped?

Max is used more for gaming which is basically low poly - high detail textures. Maya is used more for VFX and movies.

  • @xXxBladeStormxXx actually your wrong, Maya is used for games aswell as movies. You can do Bipeds on Maya, you can do much more on maya with organic models, muscles and movement. I think 3Ds Max has the same amount of function except for the new one which is released on 2011, saves time fixing up the human muscle applied to rig and how it should react I forgot the actual name for it. You can make Low Poly on Maya aswell with high detail thats nothing new

  • @xXxBladeStormxXx Max is simplified, I believe you never touched Maya. Yeah its lacking on some features which 3Ds Max has well when I say lacking I dont mean its missing its just on Maya Biped is abit more time consuming for us to make as everything is made manually but thats good in a way, you get a better undersatnding and so what you want how you want. You can google this, Ive used both softwares but I am more comfortable with Maya Interface, its more advanced than 3Ds Max,use both youll see

  • @xXxBladeStormxXx

I'm not a user of any of it, but wanting to for yrs.

I'm on the MacPro 2x2.8 Quad core Intel Xeon 8GB 4-1TB drives.

Surfing the Autodesk site, it's req to have the 4.1 series MP, & mine is 2008 3.1 model. I'd think this guy could handle some version.

Can PM me what my options/limitations might be.

Throw in preferred forum links related to review. Thanks

  • @Hayri491

I do not believe there people defending monopoly.

Only the company that makes monopoly profits and consumers are left with expensive products.

  • @stenionet Huh?? im lost

  • @stenionet not care about customers ? what do u talking about ?.almost every game or movie is made with max or maya because it have's so much more then other 3d program's also today u have motion builder for better animation second composting program like toxik it's very powerfull it made almost every wish for the costumers to come true :S. and please stop with blender talk. noob program

  • @stenionet Blender is open source software, coordinated by a non-profit organisation, so no risk of Autodesk buying and burying it.

And go through the right channels, you will find that Autodesk love their customers.

  • @stenionet Are you kidding me? Autodesk go out of the way for customers.. Also lets cut the hate, and appreciate art.

  • You know what would be really cool, if AutoDesk could combine the powers of Maya, 3DS Max and MotionBuilder to create one almighty 3D program - and they could also build a game engine that would easily integrate the features of this almighty program.

Oh no, some other 3D artists are coming to kill me for saying such "evil" things !

    HELP !!! ... AHHHHHH !!!

  • no this year is good maya 2011 is so mutch better than 2010 they have made so mutch stuff better a put in some new things to make it esay to use

  • All the images on this show reel are the same on the others show reel of the past 2009,2008 etc...

This year they don't have nothing even on they software..This year sucks on improvement on their programs, specially on Max 2011...They have to put an option to go back and save your work flow in a 2010 version of max.

  • Not much left to do.

  • I couldn't agree more.

I sure hope the upgrade will be half of the usual upgrade price cost I know they have nothing new in those progs. They really don't.

  • Amazing! Autodesk rules the 3D world

  • Autodesk is the best of the best... and i'll become an autodesk profesional!!!

  • incredible

  • 0:09 is the ending of Resistance: Fall of Man for PS3. That's weird they put that in there since the game is 4 years old, and this is a 2010 show reel xD

  • Yeep this is how autodesk work :P

  • amazing, and id expect nothing less from autodesk, but what is the game at 1:30

  • Oh, I just love these show reels. :)

  • What's the movie/clip/game at 1:36 and at 0:48 ?

  • @spider853: at 1:36 i think it is 'the witcher'

  • ya it is

  • at 0:48 it's from a game that got canceled called "stormbirds" from THQ

  • this is so innovative!

  • A lot with 3DS MAX there. Didn't see MAYA

  • @DanielManahan

doesnt mean, that there isn´t Maya Stuff inside.

    There was also motionbuilder shown.

I´m Animator for 20 years now and I can say, that it´s not in anyway everything, what Maya, Max and other Autodesk products are able to produce.

I don´t like that showreel so much, as it´s just shows standard work, nothing really innovative and re-inventing...

well..not bad, but not for a long time yet perfect!

  • greatness

  • holy FUCK.

  • Insanity! Amazing!
