When I was little the only thing that used to really scare me at the Wild Wood scene was the red eyes glowing from the hole... It still kind of makes my skin crawl, especially with all the growling/yelling.. What is in that hole? I don't really want to find out!
The Wild Woods scene is like different from Rankin and Bass's J.R.R. Tolkien's classics The Hobbit and The Return of the King RCV poster drawing. And it's look like the witches forest. Memorable for Halloween!
Sorry, but NO ONE beats David Jason as Toad. He's perfect! Same with Peter Sallis/Ian Carmichael as Ratty and Richard Pearson as Mole.
I don't like the American accents in this. No offense to Americans but it just doesn't go with Wind in the Willows at all. The whole thing is in Britain.
The way the characters are portrayed are like upper class British citizens and they have southern drawls. It just sounds ridiculous!
This people in Rankin and Bass' The Wind in the Willows are really amaze me as I had in my head. And this trains of steam locomotive are from germany and England of 1830s, 1840s, and even 1850s. And the song of Mr. Toad was a jazzy golden hit to me. Spell filling. And just rich.
I heard of different version but this one I grew up watching and I can't really do without except for this one because it hold so many good memories for me as a kid. And I don't care what people say, theres no other version like it. I just wish they would put it ON DVD ALREADY!!!!
I actually really love the wildwood. I watched this movie when I was about 5 years old and I was transfixed and used to watch it over again and again. I was a weird child but my sister saw and ran out of the room screaming so I guess it does scare someone in the family. I dunno this forest inspired a scary forest in one of my stories. I live the wildwood and always have. it rocks.
Roddy McDowall always has a certain quality in the way he plays animated characters...he just gives them such a....politeness, gentleness and charisma....I loved how he did Samwise in "Return of the King" too
I love Ratty's various outfits throughout the movie. Also great cheers for the late Roddy McDowall for really bringing Ratty's character to life in his voice acting. The animation for the "wind" I always liked. The Wildwood scene is well done in giving the scares like a sequence from the Evil Dead. "JOIN US..."
HAHA, I was looking for this movie, and after reading the other 2 comments I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one that got the bejeezus scared out of them as a kid by the wildwood scenes! When you're 4 years old and all of the sudden the movie goes from nice and happy to scary as hell thanx to those goddamn trees, that sticks with you for life! LOL
The music in this movie is something you won't forget. Classic and rock, just a great combination of memorable tunes. And the wildwood scene scared the crap outta me when I was a kid! O_O

who pronounces "advertisement" like that?
Inkrunner12 1 year ago
@Inkrunner12 All the people from England say "advertisement" that way, which is funny since Roddy McDowall was from England himself.
huntress1863 10 months ago
@Inkrunner12 The British. Your should hear how they pronounce privacy amongst other words.

0:57 - "Toad, come down here!" That moment is a nod to Disney's Cinderella, when Cinderella commands to Lucifer the cat: "Lucifer, come here!"

@boffinme80 No offence taken. I agree with you, that British accents suit the characters more.
