  • Man, that is WAY too expensive and to promote this as SURVIVAL gardening is a joke. This is HOBBY gardening. For survival gardening you need ACRES of land not a few buckets.

  • women's stalkings will work well as a screen for the pvc.

  • Doesn't the pvc pipe leak bad chemicals into what you're growing? I heard not to use it for edible gardening.

  • I hope jake is still ok, I like the self watering pots you made. good job. I also have videos and I checked out your ads 4 u

  • dudeeeeeeeeeeee,u r waisting money,use he lid from the buket 4 youre botom plate,,,u r waisting buketssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • @andrewbsheets2 I've given this a lot of thought and I think you're incorrect. In order to use the lid, I'd have to buy it first. Also, I'd have to cut it down to a size small enough to go in bucket but get wedged about 3/4 of the way down. Now how do I get the lid to stay wedged where I want it? If I put a bunch of holes in the lid will it simply "taco" on me and fall to bottom of bucket? Too aggravating, and complicated... waste the buckets!

  • @NeoPrepper noooooooooooooo, yes u cut the lid 2 fit in,then i use styro cups 2 hold it up in the botom, holes in them 2 let water in,then use styro cup 4 the dirt wik 2,ive made them and they rv working great,u r waisting a whole buket that could b used 4 another plant,,i want u 2 save the planet with as many bukets as posible

  • I wonder, those fill tubes look to be 1" ID...I've got alot of 3/4" and 1/2" sch40 pvc pipe around...wondering if there's any issue using a small size fill pipe...

  • @ljbrandt500 Don't think there would be an issue. Mine are 1 1/4 but if water will flow through them, they'll work. Hope that helps. Just don't forget to cap or screen them for mosquitos

  • Sorry about that multi reply...comp was going a little wonky

  • Hey there! Great job with the container. I have my own balcony garden and have and have been considering doing one of these buckets. I saw you have an earthbox style there as well. That's what I'm using. I really like them but your tip on how to keep the water running off as well as capping off fill tube...might consider screening off the overfill hole as well. Thanks for posting this!

  • @TheXGrasshopper THanks! Only problem with screening off overflow hole is it may get clogged and the only way to unclog is to disassemble. Kinda hard with plants in it. :)

  • @NeoPrepper I hear ya. I was thinking something along the lines of window screen mounted with duct tape on the outside...duct tape is water resistant...but not water proof...it might work. I may try that. ;)

  • Great stuff bro

  • @brooklynprepper Thanks, did you see the update on how big their getting already? I've got around 40 blooms on the tomato plants already! Woo Hoo, Tomato sandwiches are in my future... Gonna try to make sauce out of the Roma tomatoes. Mmmhhh.... Red sauce.

  • Love it...I have some extra lowes buckets, thinking this will be a kool project for my kids (thumbs up)

  • @AdventuresWithDad It seems to be working well... I'll be posting updates on it every couple of weeks. I think the plants have doubled in size already and all of them have buds or blooms for 'maters. The Basil is growing like crazy too. It is a cool project with the kids. There is a video I think I talked about in my SHTF worm farm I video that shows how to do this exactly. I think I also gave a quick "how to" on that video as well. Good luck!

  • @AdventuresWithDad Go to "Global Buckets" on youtube and you'll find great instructions from a couple of kids. One sounds like Keanu Reaves, lol...

  • @NeoPrepper LOL...Oh man that's great, he really does!!...""I caught my first tube today... Sir.""

    Love that movie....

Great lead on the channel, thanks bud!

  • @AdventuresWithDad LOL, Point Break right? Fantastic movie I haven't seen it in years and now I may have too. "Excellent" (while fingering the air guitar)...

  • @NeoPrepper yea that's the one...I'm gonna have to see it again soon myself as well....gonna catch up with your vids soon bud, been a busy weekend....enjoy the weather down there and keep up the good work (thumbs up)

  • This is a great idea. I hope you will show how they grow and if all 3 plants do well together!

  • @beccawitch That is the plan. I'll do a follow up in a month or thereabouts OR if the plants die because of proximity or whatever. Totally an experiment that will hopefully yield fruit (pun intended) :)

  • I'll get goat for the mozzerella and you can make dinner, LOL.

  • @usfreedom22 That's a deal! LOL, plus you won't need a lawn mower anymore if you get a couple of them.

  • @NeoPrepper

LOL, great video, nice garden setup. Cant wait to see the update video when you get some veg's

  • 5 gallon buckets are like duct tape! They can do anything!

I'm trying to find some sprouting seeds so I can have some indoor gardening since I'm in an apartment. I do have a spot at a community garden but the 4x10 plot doesn't produce much. I sort of which I had a balcony now LOL.

  • @rooftopeagle LOL, like duct tape.... So True!
