I was Ken Carters set up man and ramp truck driver for his first three years on tour out of ft. lauderdale Florida. I always said that this stunt wouldn't work, and then kenny powers joined us a year prior to this stunt due to Ken Carter injuries on a stunt. this was a second jet car that was designed after touring the country with a dodge challenger jet car. the lincoln should have been designed way different, god bless you ken Carter RIP, Steve "superwrench" Bilach

I remember when this happeded and laughed like crazy. Wonder why he thought he could do 3x that of a jump Kneivel didn't even accomplish. Absolutely piss-poor engineering and planning. Even if it had gotten up to speed, the thing blew apart as soon as it left the ramp and started tumbling right away which could have caused the chutes to tangle. Idiotic? No. This could've worked. First attempts often fail.

The ramp was not optimal. They removed the engine making the front end light. The rocket was angled slightly to firmly push the Lincoln to the road surface. With the front light and the rocket pushing below center mass and center  resistance, when the Lincoln left the ramp the rocket turned the Lincoln into a huge pinwheel that only made half a turn before emergency deployments happened. A ballistic flight would've made it.
