  • @siickgil18 Yes you can, you can go to the store and buy the BOV. then make sure to buy some 2 in ID transparent hose, and some srews, also you are going to have to buy some duct tape. than open the hood of you car, find the intake pipe and tape the BOV, the srews and the hose all together how ever you want on the intake pipe. you will have a bov on a non turbo car. just stick your head out the window and make the pshhh sound when you let go of the gas.

  • @Bum4Lifizo The blow-off valve regulates boost pressure. If boost exceeds a certain threshold, the valve opens and dumps the excess air to atmosphere instead of into the engine, keeping you from either producing more power than you want and/or blowing your engine.

    A splitter is just half recirc, half atmospheric realease. so yes 50/50. blow off is complete atmospheric release.

  • @RyIzzle dont try & correct me, only to do so half way! if a pressure relief vents to atmosphere its a bov regardless if it is 50/50. bypass & diverter valves bypass the compressed air to the low pressure side of the intake. so in reality you can call a 50/50 /split bov whatever the fuc u want! really doesnt matter as long as you understand its function & purpose. hell you could call it a bitch for asking :)

"i'll let you think that " & i would really like to see you recirculate your bypass valve back to the intercooler. lol watch compressor surge implode your turbo. the point of a bypass valve is to bypass the turbo not reintroduce it, you know that the intercooler is after the turbo not before it dont you? quit reading wiki & get some hands on exp!

    And u can recirc back to the intercooler, look @ Forge's website, they have a DV relocation kit for VWs, which take it from the hot side of the turbo to the cold side. thanks come again.

It relocates the DV from the hot side (turbo outlet) to the cold side of intercooler (between IC out & throttle body in) like the evo x is stock. however IT DOES NOT RECIRCULATE back to the intercooler if it did there would be no point! IT RECIRCULATES to turbo inlet or atmosphere NO MATTER WHAT! not the fucking intercooler. hope you learne something

  • yes u need a turbo for one it basically releases excess pressure when u come off the throttle

  • @BigKleib34 Yes its for a turbo, it helps prevent pressure surge, when you're flooring it and building that boost its all fine and dandy, but then when your foot comes off the gas and the butterfly closes, the boost has no where to go, so it trys to pass back through the turbo causing pressure surge (youtube it) so a BOV helps release that extra pressure instead of hurting your turbo.

  • Turbo lag has nothing to do with the size of the turbo. All turbo's will lag unless you have an anti-lag turbo system, which will greatly decrease the life of the engine. Since a turbo is driven by exhaust gasses vs. belt driven like a supercharger anytime there is a reduction in the amount of exhaust gasses coming through the turbo there will be lag. The exhaust gasses are what keep the turbo impeller "spooled" up.

  • @traumadawg1 You are confusing blow of valves with pop off valves. Blow off valves open whenever you lift the throttle and vent the boost pressure, not when a predetermined boost level is exceeded. Pop off valves are a safety precaution and will "pop open" if your boost pressure spikes.

  • dude your wrong, all 4g and dsm egines come stock with diverters. 4g63s leak when venting to atmosphere. If you have a 4g63 its best just to upgrade to a evo 9 mr diverter. I own an evo 6.

  • lets ur turbo spool up faster the next time u put the pettle down by releasing it, instead of pushing it bak thru the turbo... it is easy to install, if u know what ur doing, do some research, but it aint that complecated

  • evo 10's already had BOVs it was just rerouted back into the intake for additional feed, in turn muffling the sound, yes it is easy to install, and basically a BOV discharges excess air in the system when the intake manifold locks up to shift, so it basically dispatches the remaining pressure giving it that unique sound

  • SpoonFed, your thinking of an external wastegate venting to atmosphere via a screamer pipe. All standard turbo`s and some aftermarket ones are interally waste gated so cant be vented to atmosphere.External wastegates have the choice of dumping boost back into the exhaust system or to atmosphere which is illegal, mainly due to noise and the high temp and velocity of the exhaust gas

  • you can vent internal wastegates to atmosphere too.. just get an aftermarket downpipe off your turbo. :)
