Halo 3- Awesome mix of both, although indivudally not as good as the others

Wars was actually pretty nice. Halo 2 gave the biggest window to Covie society. Something I HATED. The original Halo portrayed the Elites as these dinosaurine, xenomorph style beasts. Then comes Halo 2:Anthropomorphization Evolved. It took that hard science fiction style of CE and replaced it with religious politics. Now Halo 2's story wasn't bad, it just didn't feel like Halo to me. With Reach, there was no coherent/relevant story until the f*cking ninth mission.
