A fabulous DVD collection! I highly, highly, HIGHLY, recommend it! I also recommend the Magical Egypt DVD collection for anyone interested in learning facts about Egypt that are scarcely, if ever, shared in the mainstream media.
evoking spirits through one's collective unconscience/the third eye is having demons manifest themselves to you through your own mind (psychologically). This "law of attraction," is no different from esoteric works such as The Greater/Lesser Key of Solomon. If anyone out there knows what the heck im talking about, then let me ask you this: Once you summon these "spirits," can you command them to change the MegaMillions lottery numbers in your favor?
The guy who thinks he can teach the Great Work is also the guy who posted the hate-filled Christian-bashing "Holiday Greeting" video. Yeah, he's in a freakin' fabulous position to actually teach what the Great Work is all about. If you see this comment, be happy, the frater deletes anything negative that gets posted here as soon as he sees it.
Sounds like he's got the Great Work well in hand if he can identify what the Great Work is not, while simultaneously keeping a lighthearted attitude about it.
No, "Christianity" is none of those things. People are. When you take a group of people with a common denominator, like race, religion, or culture, and then say that a particular set of human character flaws are exhibited by that group, you are painting with too wide of a brush, demonizing a group of humans, and marginalizing those who are within the group that are more illuminated.
If one were to say, "Christianity is a religion of pedophilia" because of the recent scandals in the Catholic Church, then one would indeed be making an unfair accusation, since nowhere in Christian writing is such supported. Here, the flaws and actions of people who fall short of the creeds of their faith cannot fairly tarnish the faith itself.
HOWEVER, to take just two of the adjectives DuQuette used - say, sex-fearing and homophobic, we can find directives within the belief system itself completely supporting them. No less a source than Christ's sermon on the mount as recorded by Matthew contains statements from Christ about "looking on a woman with lust" being tantamount to adultery. This alone has caused centuries of sexual repression. (and this is one of the surest ways to cause psychological "kinks" as it were).
Teaching to control the passions is done in other religions as well, and is not fear of sex. Sex is celebrated within marriage, it is not feared. People don't like that there are "right" and "wrong" ways to have sex within Christianity, don't like following the rules, so they misrepresent its stance to make themselves feel better about disobeying the rules. It's just like little kids who don't want to go to bed at the right time, they bitch and moan and sulk and accuse the parents of being mean.
As for Homophobia, well, there are proscriptions in Leviticus and Deuteronomy for throwing stones at homosexuals and doing other such things, so there's no way around that. There may indeed be enlightened individuals such as yourself within Christianity, but considering the actual "manifesto" of Christianity, they certainly didn't become enlightened as a result of following the Christrian creed. I really can't find anything inaccurate in the song.
And as for the Old Testament, that's the revelation of the Law. That's the JEWISH rules of behavior. Christianity teaches that we are now under GRACE. Really, you're just dressing up your hatred of Jewish culture and tradition and pinning it to Christianity when you think about it. In the New Testament, the Christian part, we're taught by Christ's example not to condemn. Anyone who does, whether they are Paul in his epistles or Falwell is a sinner.
Now, these kinds of debates go on within the Church all the time. We argue about homosexuals, gay marriage, and all that. Sometimes there's shit like the Inquisition that comes out of it, and that's shitty. But it's not "Christianity" doing anything, it's humans using a belief system to justify their own hatred. They're the ones at fault, not Christianity.
This is gross,

I think it´s kind of disappointing that DuQuette would associate his name with "the secret".

Meh. I don't think attacking Christianity the way he did is "light-hearted." It's his damage though, I'm mostly done with it.

But do you mean to say Christianity ISN'T, sex-fearing, anti-scientific, etc? It's not much of an attack since it only makes true statements.
