Try using your afterburn to land, if you go out of the map, and then use your afterburn to face the runway you can simply glide into the runway, where your wheels automatically open out.

Firstly, your afterburn is very helpful. Use it. You may need to go slightly off the map, but you can turn into the runway. Then simply cut off your engines and let it 'glide' onto the runway, your wheels will automatically open out.
