Fun fact; the "arrowhead" logo was originally that of the Enterprise alone, and each ship had their own insignia instead; as far as I know, there was no special symbol for the Starfleet itself, only UFP.
Dude, you should really see the show. Has some incredible writing. Especially the first and second seasons, Recommended episodes: City on the Edge of Forever, The Enemy Within, Balance of Terror.
@JTMitchell87 Sorry ,I wrote that at 3 am this mourning .... The TOS ;shows were fun, they did a great job for what they had to work with in the 60's. That is a cool model you have and a great review. You should check out all of the TOS shows, some are really good and 1 or 2 must of had a lower budget, but all great stuff. thanks
The first Captain of the original starship enterprise was Robert T April. I dont believe he is mentioned in TOS but he apears in the animated series which concludes Kirks 5 year mission.
for me it's the other way around. I only watched about 1 1/2 episodes of NG, because from what I watched everything takes place on the ship and to me is really boring. While in TOS they went to explore different planets and was a really fun adventure type show. I like NG a little just because of data. I also like picard, geordi and riker. But nothing beats Kirk, Spock, Mccoy, Sulu, Scotty, and lots and lots of others.
zoierjgnh give the guy a break, as he said he was a TNG fan not a TOS fan.
Go back to startrek.com and troll the forums instead of picking on NU-Trekkies on youtube or even better, if you think you can do a better job then "You do a better review"!!!!
Just in case nobody bothered to mention it, the nacelles are at a distance from the main ship because of how the warp engines generate a warp field (or "warp bubble") around the ship. The technique used by Starfleet (but not everyone) generates a specific shape of field, and placing the nacelles away from the main body of the ship allows them to most efficiently work together in generating a field around the entire vessel. It has *nothing* to do with radiation or crew safety.
@RebelAdmiral wow. you need to chill out he is reviewing a toy a pretty cool one too, and he is a fan of star trek! as long as you watch the show your a fan. it does not have to be tos or tng or ds9 you just have to like the show and the messages in it.
You've seen ONE original episode? That statement pretty much photon torpedos your credibility. You're NOT A FAN? Too bad. Watch it anyway or don't admit the heresy. "I forget where the Star Fleet logo is" finishes you off. It's pronounced nuh-CELLS.
the stand actually was not the orginal starfleet insignia, the "delta" as its called was actually enterprise specific, and wasn't until star trek the motion picture that the delta became an entire starfleet emblem
great review of playmates enterprise toy are you going to review of original enterprise from diamond select toys it has the voice of captian kirk and has light and sound
Odhh and while i'm at it, i sure hope that you have lose some weight since the time you made this video cause you really seem to be disgustingly fat. That's really gross man.
Greetings. Nacell is pronounced nih, sell, with the emphasis being on the second syllable, or cell. Second, the Enterprise D was Galaxy Class and Enterprise E is Sovreign, just FYI. Third, that annoying buzzing beeping is the bridge sound, and the main reason I can't stand the original series. If they had just done the background humming and beeping of the Enterprise D and other ships of TNG and following, or even like Star Wars, it would have been tolerable, but it was supposed to sound active.
Why did you decide to "not be a fan" of TOS after seeing only one episode? Wouldn't the fact that TNG was inspired by TOS peak your curiosity? Why are you talking about the NCC-1701 in such an arrogant, dismissive manner? Just take in an episode of ENT I recommend "Unexpected" in which your hero Trip got pregnant. Very irritating video.
I can't get into the show due to it's lack of quality by today's standards. It started everything "Trek", but I can't get into it. I can't even get into the first movie and they had a higher budget.
I spoke in an "arrogant, dismissive manner" because it, like most of Playmates' ships wasn't too great in terms of detail.
Did I say I liked Trip? I've watched exactly one full episode of Enterprise and that's it. I've only watched all of TNG and Voyager so far.
I find it ironic that a black cat should drop by in the background. The original ST had an episode called Cats Paw which featured a black cat prominently.
Not trying to nitpick its actually not the original "starfleet" insignia TOS each ship had its own symbol that was the original Enterprise insignia which after Kirks historic 5 year mission ended and the Enterprise being the only one of the Original constitution class vessels to return they took its insignia and made it universal in Starfleet.
"after Kirks historic 5 year mission ended and the Enterprise being the only one of the Original constitution class vessels to return" O.o WTF ARE YOU TALKIN' ABOUT?
According to cannon information the Enterprise was the only one of the original 13 constitution class vessles to return. The rest were either destroyed or there crew killed in some way or lost if you add in the defiant. Thats the reason they gave for making the Enterprise delta symbol the universal starfleet one go look it up on memory alpha.
Ah, thx for your explination I looked it up at memory alpha and according to them you're right. I never noticed or realized this fact. Sorry if I offended you in any way with my last comment, but I found it a bit strange. Bye, Honeylard!
actually it was captain christopher pike then he gave up and then captain robert t april then it was captain james t kirk so you left out one captain its ok i correct it for you alright
I think I've heard it pronounced both ways in the series. (It's probably the same thing as in Star Wars, where Han is pronounced as both Haun and Haan).
i can honestly say out of all the star trek series' i think Voyager was the better of all, funny thing is, i SEVERLY hate star trek, yet watched all of Voyager... and have it on dvd...
What the hell are you going to do with all of these toys? You keep buying and buying and filling up your room. I know you mentioned that other room in your house, but what if that fills up? Then what?
I was just watching the intro to Star Trek: The Next Generation, and I saw the Enterprise-D fly by. As it kept flying by it seemed like the ship was a living being itself. However, that's just my opinion.
did u guys know that the guy who plays Sylar on heroes is playing Mr. Spock in the new star trek movie, aand my mom's friend's brother works for the agency that represents him.
Pronounced "Nuh-cells". TOS 1701 is Constitution class. 1701-B is Excelsior class, 1701-C is Ambassador class, 1701-D Galaxy class, 1701-E is Sovereign class. Button 3 does sound like the bridge noise, but it is louder and not as acurate.
Probably. There were a little of background computer noises on the bridge, beeps, low hums, and higher pitched bleeps. Wasn't too loud. Typical 1960's tv sci-fi/fantasy where every botton, knob and light made a different sound. In the case of TOS, it was rather decent. :)
Nice review I havent really seen all that many people do that many Trek toy reviews. I actually like the playmates version of the 1701 just slightly better than the AA version as Playmates version feels more solid and suprisingly has more molded in detail.
Voyager is my favorite series and Picard is my favorite captain. Many fans however prefer Kirk, which is why Playmates started doing "Classic" Star Trek figures.

I'll be honest, this new 2009 Enterprise looks more like something between the TOS Enterprise and TMP Enterprise rather than the Enterprise of the TOS era.
I'm just having difficulty accepting it as the TOS Enterprise after so many years of the wonderful design represented by the toy you've reviewed.
The new movie starts off before Kirk became Captain of the Enterprise. Christopher Pike is the Captain in the movie. Kirk is just a diamond in the rough brash cadet that no one wants, but will later regret not having. It is the beginning of how the original crew were formed.
I have to say I like Picard the most as well hes one of the most likable commanding officers on any show I have seen. Janeway was a good captain also she had the whole strong intelligent women thing going on for her. I enjoyed voyager more then the next generation probably due to me being to young to really understand TNG at the time it originally aired. I definitely enjoyed voyager more then deep space nine especially when seven of nine became a regular but I hear a lot of fans didn't like her.
It's like Transformers fans. Some love G1 the most and hate the rest, some love Beast Wars. Hell, some love RiD and that was the red headed step child of Transformers.
Fun fact; the "arrowhead" logo was originally that of the Enterprise alone, and each ship had their own insignia instead; as far as I know, there was no special symbol for the Starfleet itself, only UFP.

Check that link in the video description. It's very tempting to get the Art Asylum version...

my first model ever was a snap model of the Next Generation Enterprise... it was rough looking when I was done.

I believe my first snap model was of the Mach V. Thing looked great when it was finished. Course... It was only maybe thirty pieces overall.

Honestly, between the two I liked Picard more. Though as series go I love Voyager the most.
