i'm not sure how or why, but this show is way better than iron chef america. its like there's more pride, honor, and respect on the line. this version has some real substance to it.

i searched on imdb.com that the american version is a 6.5/10 score where as the japanese version is 8.7/10

@TimFrith24 yes, his first name is Kenichi. In Japan and most Asian countries, the last name is said first so it can get kind of confusing.

@eugene680 I tried to make my own Prawns in Chilli Sauce- they were nice but wouldn't have been as good as Chen-san's. I did eat his Mapo Tofu at the Iron Chef event and it was fantastic

I'm confused, in another episode (Battle Rice) it said the challenge (Masuyoshi Kimura) was Chen Kermin's top apprentice. Now this episode says Takashi Saito is Chen Kermin's top apprentice. But where does it say he can't have two?

yeah, the only good chefs worth watching on Iron Chef America is, of course, Masaharu Morimoto and Mario Batalli

unfortunately, the show usually has Cat Cora, Michael Symon, and Bobby Flay mostly appearing now

And Batali has mostly left Iron Chef America. Which really stinks. Though Mike Symon isn't that bad, he still doesn't really match up to the original Iron Chefs.

I heard Batali and Morimoto temporarily left to focus on their respective exploits. Batali is working on a new series with Bourdain and Morimoto is tending to his new restaurant. They will be back.

I agree that Symon is good but not really match up to the Iron Chef, honestly the only person on Iron Chef America to really match up to the original Iron Chef, not counting Morimoto, was Mario Batalli although I think Alton Brown does a great job on commentary
